What makes you passionate about writing?

Reading is what makes me passionate about writing! I’ve loved books for as long as I can remember. I was raised in a family that values art and literally learned my ABCs from beautifully illustrated fairy tale books, books on mythology, and even comic books. I discovered The Lord of the Rings when I was 11 and fairly quickly read just about every fantasy book I could find in the bookstore. I began writing after that—because I’d run out of things to read but still wanted to live in those worlds.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? (more…)

Rachel McClellan, where are you from?  New Hampshire
McClellan-85
If you could travel to any time in history, when would you visit? I would love to travel to when Queen Elizabeth ruled and take notes on how she managed to rule a male dominated society for decades.
If you could have dinner with any of your characters, which ones would be? What food would you serve? I would love to have dinner with Llona and Liam from my Fractured Light series. They both like King crab legs, one of my favorites!
If you could travel anywhere, on earth or off, where would you go? Hogwarts for sure.

Curse of the Elfs the new high fantasy by Anna del C. Dye

CurseOfTheElfsCover

The wizard Zolotan has ideas of his own and creates beings without souls, for the sole purpose of doing his bidding. All seems right, until he joins his creations and attacks the wizard’s stronghold. After a magical battle he is defeated. However, the old sorcerer’s unrepentant deeds cause the wizard council to chastise him severely.

By chance he survives his punishment and the elfs cross paths with the dying wizard. On his deathbed Zolotan asks the elfs to take him far away from there to heal. The unsuspecting elfs know he won’t survive, so they wait. Losing patience the wizard, in his delirium, curses them to a slow death. It is a threat the elfs never take seriously until a hundred years later when their people come down with a strange sickness they can’t explain.

They are baffled by it and don’t know if it will follow them if they return to their motherland. Their only glimmer of hope lies in a servant of kings who must learn to love the elfs before he will attempt to save them. But no one, elf or mankind, has ever heard of this man. Can the best healers in the land find this savior before their immortal race is gone forever?

The Dream Walker will visit you

Monday, June 22nd, 2015
Question 1 Michelle, what makes you passionate about writing?
Answer 1: That is hard to answer. I love writing because it gives me a medium to express my feelings, my soul. I can do it anywhere, anytime. All I need is a pen and paper. The paper does not judge my feelings, my actions. It doesn’t tell me I told you so, or If you only had listened. It is a medium like no other. I can write short poems, long stories. I can write true things that happened, or make things up. The possibilities are endless. I can create characters, worlds, magic systems. Though like a famous quote, sometimes the best stories are the true ones.
roundcube-9
Question 2 Do you have a writing routine?
Answer 2 I try to write at night, after all of the homework, band practice, and dinner is done. I don’t really have a routine. I handwrite everything first in a big notebook. Sometimes, I get ideas when going for walks, or listening to the radio. or from a quote or something I read so I will jot down the first couple lines, and finish the rest later.
Question 3: What is the title of your book?
Answer 3: I have two books out in my young adult fantasy series, and a short story. They are The Dream Walker, Land of Mystica Series Volume One, The Dream Walker Returns, Land of Mystica Series Volume Two, and Ichra’s Quest A land of Mystica Short story. I also have a short poetry book out called Rainbows and Dreams.

What is the Secret of the black eyed boy?

Thursday, June 18th, 2015

Laura, when did you first know you wanted to be an author?

I was quite the bookworm as a child. It wasn’t long before I wanted to write my own stories. Writing is just something that I have always done.

roundcube-7

What makes you passionate about writing?

The initial idea. I normally get them when I’m in the shower or washing the dishes and BANG. Once the seeds have been planted in my brain, I can barely wait to write it all down.

What was the pathway like for you to get your first book published?

I might sound excruciatingly annoying now, but it was remarkably easy. I wrote my book with relative ease, I loved the idea and I was bursting to write that first novel. I think I needed to prove, (more…)

Do the Super Bad, Super Villains need an Academy?

Sunday, June 14th, 2015
Kai, tell us where you were born.
I was born and raised in small town Wisconsin. The village of Brown Deer to be exact. I’m very proud of my midwest roots. I think the crazy winters helped me gain character and the wholesome people helped keep me grounded.

What is the most difficult thing about being an author?
Oh, that shifts daily. Heck, maybe hourly. The waiting. Marketing. Unfavorable reviews. Avoiding social media snark. Editing. Big huge ugh to edtiting! There is a lot of difficult. Luckily there is lots of good fun, too. Favorable reviews. Reader communication. Classroom visits. Monthly lunches with fellow writers.

Who has made the greatest difference for you as a writer?
My husband. He has supported me 100% of the way. Encouraging me during my many insecure moments. Cheering my successes and commiserating my failures. I don’t believe I’d have made it to my first publication if he hadn’t been in my corner.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?
Super Bad is the third book in the Super Villain Academy series. I always knew (more…)

Can her matchmaking aunt convince her that love is worth pulling her nose out of a book?

Love in Light and Shadow by Amazon Top Seller Lucy McConnell

Mercedes O’Shay has sworn off gorgeous men because they have a tendency to break her heart.
