Author’s post:

Today, I want to respond to a comment submitted by one of my reviewers. This person stated that she felt cheated by the relationship of Jewel and Patrick at the end (yep, spoiler alert- but it’s still worth reading – don’t worry, I won’t go into too much detail here). It was mentioned that their relationship seemed too short. I did this for a specific reason.

The title of this story is based on Harley and Jewel’s connection, not Jewel’s life in general. So, no matter who Jewel found to heal her broken heart, that love would never compare to the one she shared with her first true love, Harley.

Therefore, I didn’t want to elaborate too much on Jewel’s relationship with Patrick. I gave just enough information to let readers know how Jewel was coping with life and moving on, once she accepted Harely’s death.

In my own words, I tell my readers, “I told the story the characters wanted to tell. That’s it.”

I’m not an author who fills the pages of her books with fluffy material, just to up the page count. I write whatever length chapters or books needed to tell specific stories, or parts of a story. That’s who I am.

Hopefully, you guys will realize my reason for doing this, once you experience Harely and Jewel’s one-of-a-kind love.

No one ever replaces a first true love. People just learn to love others in a different way.
