The Revenants are coming.

Only recently woken from their centuries’ long slumber, the dragons are unprepared to face them. But when a legend is uncovered, revealing the existence of a lost tribe of mages, hope flickers to life.

The race is on as Tyler Durand and Anwen Kaida rush to find this missing tribe while the others prepare for their last stand. But time and numbers are against them, and Anwen fears that even if they find the lost mages, it will be too late.

Snippet:
Walter looked between the two, watching the invisible sparks fly. Leslie was a force to be reckoned with, but she was no match for Tyler. “You know,” he commented, “I would pay to watch you and Anwen have a go at each other.”
Anwen gave him a dirty look. “Really? What happened to being my friend? I thought you were on my side.”
The veteran shrugged, aware that the others had turned their attention to him as well. “Oh I am. I just think it would be interesting to watch. In fact, I’d pay good money for that opportunity. You’re not going to improve unless you can go against someone who’ll test your skills. Why not her?” He pointed his thumb at the Walker.
“Are you kidding me?” Anwen balked. “She’d make mincemeat of me! Even Courtney’s better at this whole mage thing than I am! And you want me to go up against the best person in this place? Are you insane?”
Walter only smiled as he folded his arms across his chest as he made himself comfortable. “You want to learn your craft? I can’t think of any better way. Margo would say the same thing. You know she would.”
Anwen shook her head. “Can you please leave my mother out of this? We all know she was an overachiever who pushed everyone to their limits. I really don’t need this right now.”

Snippet:
The bullet struck just left of her chest, near the
shoulder blade. She lost balance, twisting from the force. With eyes wide open
in shock, she stared at the man who had taken everything away, her freedom, her
family, and now, her life. Her feet continued to twist as her head whipped
around, sending her over the roof’s edge as thunder rumbled through the air. A
scream of agony was forced through frozen lips, and then was silenced as the
rain came pouring down.

Snippets 1:
Courtney stopped abruptly as the scatterings of a
cave-in came into view. “Oh no,” she whispered, one hand to her mouth. Moving
slowly, she noticed a body slumped in the hallway. “Please don’t be dead,” she
said over and over again as she moved closer. She couldn’t help but wonder
which of her friends lay there, and what had happened to the other.
The closer she came, the more detail came to light. She
recognized Tyler Durand as he lay on his side. His light-colored hair lay limp
against his head. His skin was unnaturally pale. At least she didn’t think he
was dead. It took a lot to kill a dragon. But just beyond him, a little more
out of the way, lay Anwen Porter. And she wasn’t moving.

“Kas” by Karlie Lucas

a Rafflecopter giveaway

“Most teenagers don’t have a voice talking in their heads, but that’s pretty normal for Kas. It’s been there her whole life, giving her directions, keeping her from harm. When the voice advises against the family picnic in the mountains, she’s sure there’s a reason, but convincing her mom is another matter. While in the mountains, Kas accidentally stumbles on a gateway to another dimension. Almost immediately, her life is in peril. From a disembodied man known only as Milord and a hoard of hooded men who want her soul, she doesn’t know who to trust in this strange place where dreams become reality. As Kas learns more about who she is and how she came to the Waymeet of Worlds, it becomes clear that someone is lying to her. But is it the voice she’s known her whole life or the new friends she finds in Milord’s castle. Choosing the wrong people to trust could cost her soul and prevent her from fulfilling her destiny.”

And a fun Author interview question

.      How did you come to write this particular book or series?

Kas started out as a sort of Beauty and the Beast story that I wrote in high school. Over the course of ten plus years, I wasn’t satisfied with the basics and tore it apart over and over again. After piecing back together the patchwork I’d made of it, it became what it is now.
