Guardian’s
Nightmare
The
Last Princess of Latura Book 1
by
Darren Simon
Genre:
Middle-Grade/New Adult Fantasy

Charlee
Smelton is an average thirteen-year-old girl struggling to adapt
after her family moves to San Francisco. She thinks her biggest
obstacle is facing the bullies who brand her a nerd and a dweeb.
She’s wrong. Her life is about to change—for the worse. First,
she receives a gift of the ugliest, most old fashioned bike she has
ever seen. Try as she might to ditch it in the city, she just can’t
seem to escape that very mysterious two-wheeler. Then come the
visions of a world across a dimensional divide, a princess in fear
for her life and a dark knight pursuing her. Are they just dreams or
something more? For Charlee, everything she ever thought she knew
about herself soon crumbles as she starts down a path to discover her
true self, and she will need that hunk-of-junk bike more than she
could ever imagine. Without it, she might not be able to find the
hero in herself—the hero she must become to save her friends,
family, her city—the world—from an evil only she can defeat. An
evil she allows into this world.

Guardian’s Return
The Last Princess of
Latura Book 2

A
month has passed since fourteen-year-old Charlee Smelton discovered
her magical abilities and faced her great aunt, Theodora, in a life
or death struggle to protect Earth. A month has passed since she
tricked Theodora back across the dimensional gateway that brought
Theodora to Earth. Since then, Charlee—now fully aware that she is
part of a noble bloodline from another world…another dimension…has
grown stronger in her magic, aided by her protector, a shapeshifter
sent to Earth to protect her.
But
the terrible dreams won’t stop.
Theodora
lives, and if Charlee’s dreams of death and fields of spilled blood
are true, her great aunt has avenged herself on that world across the
dimensional divide.
Charlee
knows what she must do. The fight is not over. She must travel across
the gateway to the home of her ancestors and face Theodora one more
time. But doing so may cost Charlee more than her life. The same
medallion her great aunt desires so much—a medallion Charlee
possesses—could make her just as evil as her great aunt.
Can
Charlee stave off the twisted tendrils of the medallion long enough
to defeat Theodora—for good—or will evil consume her? Can she
even survive so far from home? Her only hope may rest in the Lord of
the Dragons, but that beast turned his back on her grandfather long
ago…

Darren
Simon resides in Southern California where he works as a college
English teacher after a career as a newspaper journalist. His love
for writing began with a love for reading when his grandmother gave
him a wonderful gift—a brown paper bag filled with comic books from
the 1960s and ’70s. From there, he moved on to Choose Your Own
Adventure
books. Eventually he discovered the works of J.R.R.
Tolkien, which solidified his interest in writing epic fantasy and
science fiction tales.
So
far, he has focused his writing on middle grade and young adult
fiction to inspire young readers just as he was inspired to read and
write at a young age.
He
self-published his first novel though iUniverse and immediately went
on to write the second book in the series. Upon completing the second
book, he decided to seek more traditional publishing. After countless
rejection letters, a small independent publisher—Divertir
Publishing—decided to pick up the series, a fantasy about a
teen-aged girl who learns her family is actually from an alternate
dimension, and only she has the power to protect Earth from a
sorceress from her world—who just happens to be her great aunt.
Divertir republished the first book, titled, Guardian’s
Nightmare
, in 2015. The second book in the series, Guardian’s
Return
, was released in April.
Darren
has also written another series—a young adult historical pirate
fantasy set in the golden age of piracy, mixing historical pirates
and pirate hunters with his fictional characters in a time-traveling,
swashbuckling tale. The first book in that series, The Dangerous
Legacy,
was published in 2016 by Tell-Tale Publishing. The second
book in the series, The Deadly Waters, is due out later this
year.
All
his books are available at Amazon.com and Barnes&noble.com.
Darren,
who lives with his wife, Sandra and two sons, Daniel and Jacob, and
two crazy dogs, in the Valley, is continuing to write and develop new
stories, including a young adult novel now in the hands of literary
agency.

I
love writing that inspires. Foundational to the human spirit is the
love of a good story. A good story makes you yearn to live your best
life, to fight for things worth fighting for, and be swept away in
heroic events. I’m not one for shock and awe, but a story that builds
slowly, using mystery, suspense and adventure to draw the reader
along. I hope you’ll check them out! Currently, these books are

I
have always had a passion for writing, and a special place in my
heart for Epic Fantasy. Inspired by others who have paved the way for
this genre, I have many stories to tell, and plan to bring them all
to you.

I
started going to a fantasy world in my mind many years ago, and the
adventures of Peter and Alexandra were my escape from the harsh
technical world all around me. The twins were enthusiastic,
energetic, eager to go out and explore their world, and willing to
take on any challenge necessary. I have often said that I travel to
the Upper Aren and come back and write about it, and I really do feel
that way at times.

My
own eclectic interests fueled the twin’s activities, as I have done a
little of everything in my life. I suspect it’s because of my adult
attention deficit disorder, and a need to try everything at least
once.

I
hope you enjoy the adventures of my characters and they become a part
of your lives, as they have long been a part of mine.

The
time has come to end their punishment or the world.

For
nearly destroying the world in an ancient war, the Ashanti were
cursed by the Goddess Mhyrah with lifespans of less than a decade. To
regain normal lives for his people, Beh’kana, the Ashanti King,

After all, he already killed his closest friend to gain the Ashanti
throne.

But
his defeat at the Earth Gate nearly cost him his life.

Lavinia
did not seek to be named Guardian of the Spheres when she touched
each to gain control of elemental power. But now that choice has
propelled her to being the key to stop the Ashanti. She controls the
gates that allow magic into the world. And she must close them or the
Ashanti will cross into the spirit realm and gain power beyond
imagination, enough to enslave or destroy the world they once sought
to rule.

But
with the closure of each gate, an elemental power is lost.

Only
two gates remain open. Magic is faint. Just when the fight grows the
most desperate. To win needed help, Lavinia has promised a man who
once tried to kill her best friend that she would open the gates and
restore magic again.

It
might give them the power to fight the Ashanti or it will give their
enemy the world.

As

A

Waki’tani, mythical lords of the wind

Friday, June 16th, 2017
Y’keta
The
Sky Road Trilogy Book 1
by
Sandra Hurst
Genre:
Epic Fantasy

Banished.
Cast out. Powerless. Y’keta is exiled to the small village of
Esquialt as his father’s punishment for his rebellious spirit.
Village tradition gives him one Cycle, from spring to spring, to earn
the right to stay.
The
villagers have a legend about mighty beings called the Waki’tani,
mythical lords of the wind and lightning who can shapeshift into
human form. Y’keta knows the truth behind these stories. Could there
be more to them than just tales shared around the campfire?
If
Y’keta reveals what he knows to the villagers, it will tear their
history and traditions apart…but sharing his secrets may be their
only hope for survival when Esquialt is threatened by the brutal,
ferociously destructive Utlaak.

Loosely
based on the Thunderbird of North American legend, Y’keta is an epic
fantasy set in an ancient world where legends walk and the Sky Road
offers a way to the stars.

Hi,
my name is Sandra Hurst, the author of the Sky Road fantasy
series.

As a child growing up in England stories and legends
surrounded me, I learned how important imagination was. When I was 8,
we moved to northern Canada and the legends changed. Stories of the
Fae and the little people were replaced by legends of the Thunderbird
and stories of the woodlands. I never stood a chance. What could I be
but a writer?

Growing
up in Northern Alberta gave me a great love and respect for the wild
lands and indigenous cultures which made its way into the worlds I
create.
A
mythmaker at heart, I started writing poetry in middle school and
graduated to epic fantasy.
Myths
give us a way to interpret the world past our normal experience. To
ask questions and explore answers in a larger-than-life game of ‘what
if.’ We need to make room for myths and mythmakers in our fact
driven world. To give space for worlds that are brighter and clearer
than our own. For it is in doing so, that we have room to become more
fully human.
My
first book,
Y’keta,
is loosely
based on the
Thunderbird of North American legend, Y’keta is a Young Adult, high
fantasy set in an ancient world where legends walk and the Sky Road
offers a way to the stars.
I
now live in Calgary, Alberta with my husband and son, both of whom I
love dearly, and have put for sale on e-bay when their behaviour
demanded it. My day to day life is a balance between my outside life
as a paralegal counsellor and my inner life as an author/poet. In
between, I work on courses to improve my writing, learning the Cree
Language, book reviews and blogging on my website, and studying
mythologies from around the world.

Jamie
began writing stories about the man from Mars when she was six, and
she never remembers wanting to be anything other than a writer.
Everyone told her she needed a back up plan, so she pursued a Ph.D.
in American literature, which she received in 1998. She started
teaching writing and literature at Auburn University. One day in the
midst of writing a piece of literary criticism, she realized she’d
put her true passion on the backburner and neglected her muse. The
literary article went in the trash, and she began the book that was
to become The Goddess’s Choice, which was published in April 2012.
Her other novels include The Soul Stone and The Ghost in Exile. In
addition, she has published a novella, Demons in the Big Easy, and a
collection of short stories, Blood Cursed and Other Tales of the
Fantastic. Her short fiction has also appeared in the

. . . and the tortured soul. Her poor characters have hard lives. She
lives in Auburn, Alabama, with her husband and four cats, which (or
so she’s been told) officially makes her a cat lady. She still
teaches writing and literature at Auburn University. She is the

The Order
The Order Book 1
by A.C. Donaubauer
Genre: Epic Fantasy
About the Book

A clumsy step, the wrong branch to hold on to and a bump on the head to leave her unconscious – no more than that causes Eryn’s life to turn upside down and to suddenly find herself in the capital city as a prisoner to the king.
She is determined to keep her magical abilities a secret in a kingdom where magicians have only ever been male as long as anyone knows. That doesn’t work out that well, though. The Order, the governing body for magicians, and the king seem to have their own plans with her, none of them caring in the least that she just wants to leave that blasted city behind and return to the peace and quite of her profession as a healer.
And then there is Enric, a high ranking magician in the Order thanks to his considerable strength, who seems to find watching her struggles an amusing diversion.

Commitments
The Order Book 2About the Book
Ram’an has, to Enric’s great relief, left Anyueel again to return to his home country – which leaves him to figure out the challenge that Eryn still presents to him in more than one area of his life.
Eryn is restless, unnerved by the Order’s demands and her own urge to do something useful. Thus an expedition into the woods to teach the herb gatherers in the city how to provide her with acceptable goods seems just the thing to do to pass the time until the new healer’s place is ready for use. Ten peaceful days of collecting plants far away from the city. Or at least that’s the plan.
