Genre:
Romantic Suspense

On
the surface, Giselle Duzido could be called many things.
Sassy,
determined and breathtakingly beautiful.
But
one thing that would never come to tongue, is broken and fragile;
because she’s learned to keep that part of herself locked up tight.
The veneer she chooses you to see – has it all. Her designer brand is
on the rise from her original base in Sydney, to two more stores in
Los Angeles and New York; a part of a world she has always fit into
seamlessly.
Career-wise?
She’s flourishing. Social status? Almost famous!
But
scratch just beneath her surface and there it is, eating away at her
insides. But at some point, doesn’t Sel deserve to have the happily
ever after?
She
may look just like another twenty-something woman, searching for that
earth-shattering love…
But
it’s all just a camouflage.

From
the earliest age I was a born storyteller. Ask my parents and they
will tell you I had a gift for making a simple event seem like an
elaborate one. Purposely? No. Innocently? Yes. It was my imaginary
world that initially led me to believe I wanted to be an actor. All
of that role playing and living in fantasy… it was an obvious
direction for me. However, becoming quite uncomfortable with the
limelight quickly saw that dream diminish. Over the years I turned my
world of fantasy into stories, and eventually began writing them
down. Before I knew it, ‘Cut’ had been completed. When I am not busy
writing my next story, I am a working mum, housewife and sometimes
hockey wag 🙂 In other words, probably some kind of circus act who
specialises in juggling 😉 I hope you enjoy my blog, where I will be
posting thoughts, other books I am currently reading and even sneak
peeks of my novels. I encourage any feedback, comments or direct
messages via my contact page should anyone wish to get in touch. I am
so thrilled to be sharing my journey and hope you enjoy my stories as
much as I enjoy writing them. Dream often. Believe always.

Song

Corners Book 2
It
only took one look into his eyes for her to know she was in trouble.
Adam
Bricklin has heard the melody in his head for years, the melody that
told him if a decision was right or wrong. When he met Ragan Newlin
the song told him she was the one. He was devastated when
circumstances tore them apart. It has taken three years for Adam to
finally move past the heartbreak he suffered when Ragan left town in
the middle of the night. No note, no email, no text. She was just
gone. Now he has a new girlfriend, a new album in the works, and his
daughter is doing well in school. Until the day Ragan returned to
Fairfield Corners.
Ragan
came home to celebrate her parents’ anniversary, hoping they would
forgive her for not telling them about her marriage or her son. When
she discovered that Adam was still living in Fairfield Corners she
hoped her secrets were safe; secrets that drove her away three years
ago, secrets that could change their lives forever.

Horses
were one of my first loves, and writing soon followed. As a child, I
spent hours writing poems, and short stories (about horses). My
parents realized that I was horse-obsessed and decided to buy me one
after taking riding lessons for two years. I think they hoped that
all of the hard work, and hours spent mucking stalls would help me
give up this expensive hobby. They were wrong. Writing is still a
passion of mine, although now I primarily write fiction. My first
novel, Red Rock, was published in 2010, and big surprise, there are
horses in it. My second novel, The Three Month Plan was released
August 2013.
Other
Loves: My family, yoga, skincare and makeup, sushi, and raising money
for pediatric cancer. I have two rescue dogs and would have more if
there weren’t zoning restrictions. I’m always trying something
new, as I tend to get bored very easily. Thankfully, my love of
driving around with the gas light on fuels some excitement. I love
novels with happy endings, and am a hopeful romantic. My latest
obsession is browsing Netflix, and I can name all 50 states in
alphabetical order in under 30 seconds. Do I feel a wager coming on?

To
date I have published three books, KILLING SOFTLY (an erotic mystery

Book Three, LEX TALIONIS.

What could melt a Heart of Stone?

Friday, February 17th, 2017
Heart
of Stone
by
Rob Buckman
Genre:
SciFi, Action
Mike
Grainger had enough of killing and death, and all he wanted now was
to be left alone in peace and to forget the past, finding a quiet
place, high in the Rocky Mountains where he could live his life.
Maybe now he could put the ghost that haunted him to rest. Here,
death and destruction were forces of nature, something he understood,
and respected, yet even as he watched a storms moving across the
mountains another storm swept towards him, one that had nothing to do
with the weather.
To
Roland Hawkins’, his world revolved around money and power, and
gaining a fortune that nothing could destroy. To him, disposing of
people who stood in his way meant nothing. He felt no remorse when he
ordered people killed to fulfill his ambition. Now he wanted an
insignificant section of land high in the Rockies, and to consummate
his latest business deal he’d arranged the death of the previous
owner. To his consternation, the land slipped from his grasp before
his agents could obtain it, and due to poor judgment and timing the
land was purchased by another. In fury, he ordered the property be
obtained by any means necessary, thinking his power and money would
protect him from anything. Nowhere in his calculation did he consider
the new owner, Mike Grainger, thinking him nothing more than some
local hick to be disposed of as quickly as possible. Bribery,
extortion, and murder were tools to Roland Hawkins and used to
justify his ambition. Mike Grainger used death and destruction as a
tool to keep what was his. To him, life and death were meaningless,
his own included. It would have all been so easy if Kat Ballard
hadn’t stepped into the picture. She gave him a reason to live, to
care, and pushed the stakes even higher. Now, it was not just a
question of fighting a pack of hired killers on their trail, but
staying one jump ahead of them. He now had to consider someone else’s
life, as well as trying to discover why Roland Hawkins wanted his
land so badly.
Together
they fought the mountain, the mercenaries, the elements, and each
other in a wild death hunt over and under the mountains, finding love
and losing it. Now he was mad. Roland Hawkins would pay a high price
for his ambition: his life. The hunted would now become the hunter.
No quarter asked, or given.

Gray Chronicals 1
by
Rob Buckman
For
Mike Gray, his life was a series of mysteries and unanswered
question. Even the man who raised him, his paternal grandfather, was
a question mark. Beyond the love, understanding, and nurturing lay
the unanswered question of why a disgraced ex-Royal Naval Admiral
would pulled himself out of a bottle and take upon himself to bring a
one year old child home as raise him as his own. The question of why
his family, the Tregallion clan, refused to come to his aid went
unanswered. Even so, between them they build a life for themselves
until the fateful day he died. After that, Mike fled across the
stars, swearing he would never again take the responsibility for
another person’s death. Fate and destiny had other ideas, plunging
him into one situation after the other where he had to take command,

future of the free stars hanging in the balance, Mike reluctantly
accepted his destiny, and the part he must play. For better or worse,

fanatic using nuclear weapons destroyed not only US cities, but his

of a gun and cannon, and from the air. Yet in victory came defeat as
he found three hundred years later in the world he woke up in. One
far different from the one he’d left behind when he went into cold
sleep. Now he had to find a place in this strange new world, one

I

am a 65 year old retired mechanical engineer, ex-soldier, ex-sailor,
have mined and prospected for gold in the Amazon jungle in places no
white man has ever been, and generally tried to be a ‘jack of all
trades’ and turn my hand to many things. This came in handy when I
started to write, as I could draw on many different experiences, both
positive and negative to build my stories and characters. To me,
writing is similar to another activity that men do alone… no, not
that, I meant fishing (lol), in that it gives your mind a chance to
wander down strange pathways, and try to answer the question ‘What
if?’. Like many self published authors did before me, I posted my
stories before I had the means, or readership to edit or proofread
the stories, for which you have my apologies, and have attempted to
correct that oversight.  Like any good author, I try to write an
entertaining story of interest to a particular group of reader, i.e.
Sci-fi fans, and not to win an English essay contest, composition
award, or a spelling bee. With luck I have achieved that end, and beg
your indulgence, and hope you will overlook any irritating errors you
still may come across while reading and not let them detract from the
your overall enjoyment of the storytelling.
At
the moment I am working on Book Three of both ‘Echo of Tomorrow’
and ‘He Who Dares’.  During my ‘spare’ time I’m also
working on several short stories and plotting out sequels to a couple
of my other short stories.

The Undead Must Die by Penny Brojacquie is comprised of episodes one and two in the first book of the Order Of The Black Rose Series. It is great reading for anyone who likes adventure with a good plot. The setting is an island in Europe across the Mediterranean sea. Penny gives you a great idea of what it looks like there.

The story tells of an ancient people that is devoted to saving mankind from their own wrongdoings. Like in a great tale, there are other ancient people in it too, but these are the evil doers. The Order of the Black Rose are the good people and they are running out of time to save mankind from becoming mindless zombies with extraordinary physical powers. It takes one bite from an infected person to contaminate another, and there are many waiting to be unleashed on the cities of mankind.

The Order of the Black Rose knows where the paper containing the antidote recipe is and they also know there is only one person who can decipher it, Floriana. Floriana doesn’t know anything about The Order of the Black Rose and, because of the lack of time, they have to kidnap her to keep her from falling into the wrong hands. She can’t believe what they want, because their tale is hard to swallow and she is just an art student; how is she supposed to save the world? To see if she helps or not, you will have to read the book. The Undead Must Die by Penny Brojacquie is a wisp of fresh air in this genre and I enjoyed the clean contemporary story a lot.

A REFERENCE TO MURDER
by Kym
Roberts

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Pub
Date: 5/16/2017

SOMETIMES YOU GET WHAT YOU NEED .
. .

Charli Rae Warren is back home in Hazel
Rock, Texas, spending her time reading, collecting, and selling
books—at least, the ones that don’t get eaten first by her
father’s pet armadillo. Running the family bookstore is a demanding
job, but solving murders on the side can be flat out dangerous…
The Book Barn is more than just a shop,
it’s a part of the community—and Charli is keeping busy with a
fundraising auction and the big rodeo event that’s come to town.
That includes dealing with the Texas-sized egos of some celebrity
cowboys, including Dalton Hibbs, a blond, blue-eyed bull rider who
gets overly rowdy one night with the local hairdresser . . . and soon
afterward, disappears into thin air.
Dalton’s
brother also vanished seven years ago—and Charli is thrown about
whether Dalton is a villain or a victim. After a close call with an
assailant wielding a branding iron (that plays havoc with her hair),
and some strange vandalism on her property, she’s going to have to
team up with the sheriff to untangle this mystery, before she gets
gored . . .

Three career paths resonated for Kym
Roberts during her early childhood: detective, investigative
reporter, and . . .nun. Being a nun, however, dropped by the wayside
when she became aware of boys—they were the spice of life she
couldn’t deny. In high school her path was forged when she took her
first job at a dry cleaners and met every cop in town, especially the
lone female police officer in patrol. From that point on there was no
stopping Kym’s pursuit of a career in law enforcement. Kym followed
her dream and became a detective who fulfilled her desire to be an
investigative reporter, with one extra perk—a badge. Promoted to
sergeant, Kym spent the majority of her career in SVU. She retired
from the job reluctantly when her husband dragged her kicking and
screaming to another state, but writing continued to call her name,
at least in her head. Visit her on the web at kymroberts.com.

Tell us about your writing –  What genre do you prefer to write?

I write science fiction/fantasy books. Very low on the science, very high on the fantasy. I have a giant-sized imagination that’s extruded from my brain like a slushie at the gas station, and such a genre is well-suited for me.

What books, stories, other publications that you’ve written are your personal favorites?

I don’t think I have a personal favorite, I’m happy with them all. Essentially, I write stories that I like to read. I’m fairly minimalist when it comes to floral descriptions, I’ve been taught plot is king, and I’m a really good plotter.

Anything new coming up?

The next book in the series is Book 10: The House of Bloodstein: Perlamum, followed by The House of Bloodstein: Mentralysis. I’m very excited for this series. It should be a lot of fun.

What gets your creative juices going? Do you write to a music, and do you want to share your playlist?

I love writing at night–that usually gets my juices flowing. When I listen to music, I usually listen to darker, more depressing sort of tunes. One of my usual soundtracks is “Bella Lugosi’s Dead” by Bauhaus and the soundtrack to the Fear Effect.

What about you as a person? What do you do to relax? Favorite movies or tv shows? Hobbies?

I have all sorts of interests. I love caving, I love crawling in the deep unseen places. I also love wandering through huge, craggy buildings like hospitals and old hotels. I really can’t say what my favorite film would be–I have many that I love, and the list changes all the time. My current favorite TV show is “Vikings” on the History Channel though I also like “Longmire” on Netflicks as well.

What color would you wear if you had only one choice?

Red and Gray (I’m a Buckeye fan)

“Man’s heart away from nature becomes hard.” Standing Bear

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016

My Review:

ma--towak

Matowak Woman who Cries by Joylene Nowell Butler is a murder mystery that will keep you glued to its pages with a good plot and inviting deliverance. It moves nicely to get to the twist at the end.

A very important retired lawyer and diplomat is killed in his house after breakfast, and his wife is the main suspect.

There is a lot of racism going on in this book, related to the Native American characters and those who think white people are better than they are. The policeman in charge of the crime is a Native American and one of his suspects is his white boss’ native American woman that lives with him.

As in all good murder mysteries, this book has secrets, twists, abuse, a gun and a body. I enjoyed the theme and the characters, what I didn’t like at all was the unnecessary swear words. They seemed to be used at random and did not necessarily feel natural to the conversation. I knocked one point off the rating for making me listen to them. I recommend it to adults who like murder mysteries and don’t mind swearing in their reading.

Happily Ever After

I remembered opening my eyes for the first time that morning. The sun shined bright through the curtains and coffee filled the spacious room. It was my wedding day. After years of promises and plans, the day was here. I pushed the comforter off my legs and stood from my hotel bed; I was really getting married. My mom and sisters rushed into the room, calling out congratulations with wide smiles and busy hands. They bustled around me, pulling me in all directions, waiting to get ready for my day.

Shortly after we all dressed and ate breakfast, we made our way to the salon for hair and makeup. The day had not flown by like I thought it would. Everything was scheduled and timed perfectly. The only thing I needed left to do was put my dress on and walk down the aisle with my dad. Hours later, pictures with my bridesmaids were done, I stood in the back room waiting for the ceremony to start.

As the music cued and everyone else walked down the aisle, it was my turn. I didn’t anticipate the nerves I felt. I knew exactly who I was marrying. Kyle was my best friend, my confidant, my other half. He was my everything. There was no reason to be nervous, but I was. My father took my arm and led me down the aisle. My eyes never left my husband to be. He was handsome. All the nerves I had been experiencing had disappeared. We were joining our lives and becoming one for eternity. I couldn’t have been happier.

Story Excerpt, From Chapter 3: the Wunderlucks:

As they headed for the exit, somebody sitting in a passing booth stuck their foot out, nearly tripping Sam. She stumbled a bit and caught herself on Kay’s shoulder. A hint of quiet snickers came from those seated at the booth.

Kay stopped. “Good sir,” he said. “I do believe you did that on purpose.”

A man in the booth stirred. “And what of it?” he asked in a deep, rumbling voice.

“What of it? You attempted to trip my wife, who just happens to be the Ne-Countess of Blanchefort.”

The man stood. He was a veritable mountain of flesh, brawny, broad in the shoulders with a smallish head with cropped black hair, square chin, and a thick neck. He wore a gaudy insulated spacing suit composed of shiny red material trimmed in bright yellow. His boots were heavy Macco boots meant for space or high altitude work. His three companions in the booth all wore similarly colored attire. An assortment of half-finished drinks sat on their table. Kay recognized them as the people who had taken the painting from Castle Bloodstein.

They snickered and cat-called at Sam.

“So, they’re making Monama dishwashers countesses now?” the female in their group said as she smoked a menthol. “We knew the Vith had no taste and little class, but this?”

“Serve me another drink, Monama . . .”

Kay was momentarily taken aback. He’d never faced such brazen rudeness, especially in the middle of his own village. He was enraged. “You four bravos had best mind your civility.”

“Or what?” said the sour female.

“Or, I could have the lot of you arrested. I could have you executed too. The old laws are still in place.”

The female looked Kay over. She took a luxurious pull from her cigarette and then flicked it at him. “Oh,” she said in a slow growl. “I doubt you’ve the balls for something like that.”

Phillip stepped forward. “If I were you, I’d reserve yourselves and offer an immediate apology to the Ne-Countess.”

“The day we apologize to Monama trash will be a bad one indeed,” the female said, flashing her teeth. She had brownish-silvery hair pulled tight into a net. Her bangs were waxed into curls across her forehead.

“I wonder,” another man at the booth said. “Is the Monama for sale? I’d like to buy her for an hour or two.”

Kay’s hand went to his CARG, ready to unsaddle it and lop their heads off. Sam restrained him. “It’s alright, Kay, we needn’t waste our time with these foolish people. Let’s go,” she said in Anuie.

Hearing Sam’s native language encouraged more poor behavior from the group. “Will you listen to her?”

“Sounds like two pigs having sex, doesn’t it?”

“Hahahahahahaha . . .”

Sarah was fuming. “How about we take you outside and beat the living tar out of the lot of you right here and now, how about that? Nobody talks to the Ne-Countess of Blanchefort like that while I’m around! Got it?”

The rest of the people in the booth stood up. They were all of exceptional size. The lady in their group engaged in a fierce staring contest with the shorter Sarah. The first man spoke again to Kay.

“We heard you were some sort of Vith hero. You look like a little Nancy-Boy to me. I am Ernst Wunderluck, and these with me are my kin: Aiken, Rusty, and Clara. We are the famed Wunderlucks, adventurers and

treasure-hunters supreme! We are the pride of Remnath!”

Wunderlucks? Kay recalled their name was carved on the table in Lady Chrysania’s gallery.

Phillip stood firm. “I notice the thick necks, low brow, small cranial size, and limited apparent intelligence. The lot of you look to be members of the House of Jocanda. Am I correct?”

Sarah laughed. “Jocandas? You mean that stupid House that declared war on the Sisters way back when? You’re a pack of Jo-Boys then, for real! Ha, ha, ha!!” She slapped her leg and howled. “Why don’t you go

find a Sister to vomit on, Jo-Boys.”

The Wunderlucks all turned a shade of red to match their suits.

“We’ve Hospitaler’ed people for less,” Clara said, sizing Sarah up. Clara might have been very pretty had her face not been puckered into an ugly scowl.

“Shaddap, Jo-Boy!” Sarah said.

Ernst fumed. “Nobody calls us that, understand? Nobody!” He reached out to seize Sarah by the hair. Sam shot out and took him by the wrist. She wrenched him off his feet to the floor. Chatter in the bar

immediately ceased. The rest of the Wunderlucks drew weapons from their suits.

“Not so fast!” Ki said coming up from behind, her SK pistol drawn. “What’s going on here?”

“This is a private conversation, Magistrate,” Ernst said, engaging in a test of strength with Sam from his knees and not having much success. “It . . . doesn’t concern you.”

Pop! His hand broke in Sam’s grip and he sweated in pain.

“Drawing weapons in my village in a serious offense, boyo. Your welcome’s officially worn out. Take your things, pay your tab, and blow. I catch you lurking around here again, you’ll all spend time in my jail,

got it?”

“Is this Vith justice?” Rusty Wunderluck asked. “The Monama just broke my brother’s hand.”

“Seems to me your brother had that and more coming to him. Maybe he’ll find his manners next time,” Ki responded, her finger on the trigger.

The Wunderlucks looked amongst themselves and then returned their weapons to their holsters.

“Fine. We’re going. This is a crap Flop-Town full of Frag-Wagons and Whimple-Poles anyway,” Ernst said. Sam released him and he stood, his hand an ugly shade of purple. The Wunderlucks tossed back the remains of their drinks and headed to the door.

Ernst turned back. “Oh, one last thing, Blanchefort. We heard you got a letter from Bloodstein. Stay out! We’ll do the collecting, right? Us, not you, she contacted us first. That’s our adventure and our spoils. I see you and your trash wife meddling in our business again and I’m not going to be so nice about it.”

Rubbing his wrist, Ernst and the rest of the Wunderlucks went through the door and were gone.
