Ten agonizing months have gone by since Therese faced off against her
parents’ murderer at Mount Olympus, and she suspects Thanatos’s
absence is meant to send her a message: go on with your life. She
tries to return Pete’s affections even though her heart aches for
the god of death, but when Than shows up to take her hamster’s
soul, she becomes infuriated when he says he’s “been busy.” In
cahoots with her new friend, who’s gotten in with the Demon Druggies
at school, Therese takes a drug that simulates a near-death
experience, planning to tell Than off so she can have closure and
move on, but things go very, very wrong.
Eventually she learns Than has been busy searching for a way to make her a god,
and he’s found it, but it requires her to complete a set of
impossible challenges designed by Hades, who hopes to see her fail.

The Gatekeeper’s Daughter
Book 3
In The Gatekeeper’s Sons, Therese and Thanatos, the god of death, met
and fell in love. In The Gatekeeper’s Challenge, they did everything
they could to be together, even break an oath on the River Styx. But
the Olympians don’t tolerate oath-breakers.
In this third book in the saga, The Gatekeeper’s Daughter, Therese may
have finally succeeded in becoming a goddess, but if she wants to
remain one, she’ll not only have to discover her unique purpose, but
also make some allies among the gods. Artemis sends her on a
seemingly impossible quest across the world, while Than searches for
a way to appease Ares. To make matters worse, her baby sister’s life
depends on the outcome of her quest.

The summer Meredith turned eighteen was filled with romance and laughter – two young men sought her hand, and she chose the one she thought would make her the happiest. He certainly was the most handsome, and the wealthiest, and could offer her the most pleasant life. But that turned out to be a mistake . . . one she would regret for a very long time.
In a strange twist of fate, now she’s being given a chance to set things right. Will she be able to live down her past, or will her
foolishness keep coming back to haunt her and keep her from ever being happy
with the man she loves?

Snippet:
Luke ate a hearty
meal, but Meredith only picked at hers. The butterflies in her stomach had
turned into lead weights. She could hardly wait until she could excuse herself
from the table. As soon as the dishes were stacked and the water to wash them
was on to boil, she grabbed Luke’s hand and dragged him outside.
“What’s all the
rush?” he asked with a chuckle as soon as they were out of earshot of the
house.
“Don’t you have
any idea how badly I’ve needed to talk to you? You’re my best friend—I need
your advice.”
He leaned on the
fence that surrounded the property and rested his foot on the bottom rail.
“What’s going on?”
Now that the
moment had come, Meredith wasn’t entirely sure where to start. “Well, you
remember Mr. Bingham.”
“Of course. He’s a
hard one to forget. A fancy suit and a lot of bravado.”
“He’s more than
that,” Meredith protested. “He’s smart and attentive, and he’s . . . well, he’s
interested in me.”
Luke turned to
face her. “What do you mean, he’s interested in you?”
Meredith felt heat
coming to her cheeks. “When we were outside on the porch last night, he said .
. . he said he’d like to get to know me better. As in, to get ready for
courtship.”
“But . . .” Luke
shook his head. “I’m not quite sure what to say to that, Meredith. I always
thought . . .”
When he didn’t go
on, Meredith prompted him. “What?”
“I just always
thought that you and I would get married someday.”
Meredith couldn’t
possibly have been more surprised. His words hit her chest like she’d been
kicked by the cow. “Us? Luke, are you crazy?”
“Apparently I am.”
The muscles in his jaw worked, and she could tell that he was struggling not to
say even more.
“I don’t mean to
be harsh. I just never thought of us that way. You’re my best friend, a
brother, someone I can always talk to. I assumed you felt the same way.”
Luke shook his
head again. “Funny how two people can see the same thing in such different
ways. I’m in love with you, Meredith. I have been pretty much since the first
day we met. There was something about you that just spoke to something in me,
and I thought that someday, it would all come together. Maybe I should have
talked to you about it, huh? Made sure we were on the same page?”
Meredith leaned on
the fence and buried her face in her folded arms. This was horrible. This was
absolutely horrible. How much time had Luke wasted on her when he could have
been out with other girls, girls who could return his feelings? She felt sick
inside knowing that she could never give him what he wanted. All they could
ever be was friends, and this conversation might change that too. Everything
would be awkward between them now.
“I’m sorry,
Meredith. Maybe I should have held my tongue.” He touched her back, much the
same as he had so often over the years, but now it held more meaning. “I’m happy
for you—I really am. If Mr. Bingham is the right man for you, I’ll wish you
well.”

He’ll carve a melody from the solid wood surrounding his heart

Thursday, March 23rd, 2017

From the award-winning author of the bestselling novel The Soldier’s Bride read the story of a carpenter who gave a music box to a young polio victim, but held the magic of the melody inside his heart.

He hesitated only half a second before lowering his head. There was something there, behind his eyes, in his soul. Something that seemed familiar to Sophie. She didn’t know Leland, but she recognized that haunted look in his eyes. He had lost someone. He had weathered the storm and still manned his ship, sailing forward through life.

Here’s a little about this story:

World War II has ended but the scars
of the war have carved deep grooves in Sophie Wright’s heart. Now a widow with
two young children, she returns home to Aspen Falls and meets Leland Halverson,
a handsome carpenter who appears interested in her, but afraid of a
relationship.
Leland wishes he was worthy of the beautiful Sophie, and he adores her two children, but his past still haunts him. Sophie knows that Leland fell apart after his little girl died and his
wife left him, but she doesn’t know the real reason why.
Meanwhile, David Alexander, a decorated bomber pilot has returned to Aspen Falls, and Sophie catches his eye.
Confused by the two vastly different choices of men, Sophie searches for answers from a heart that has betrayed her before.
When Sophie discovers a message inside a music box that Leland once owned, the pieces start to fit together. The enchanting melody urges her to share the secrets of her heart so that she
can understand his. Leland knows the tune from the music box well and if he can find the courage, he’ll carve a melody for Sophie from the solid wood surrounding his heart.

Can a Princess be handicapped?

Tuesday, February 14th, 2017
Just in time for Valentines and for your favorite lady, a new clean, young adult, medieval fantasy romance hit the market today. “A Golden Princess,” book three in A Royal Romance Series of Anna del C. Dye is a stand-alone story. You will find an array of characters, fears, love, endurance and heroes, between its pages. Enjoy!

About the book:

Small for her age, Princess Nyala is determined to be noticed and someday rule with fairness and valor in Kaloma. All changes when she looks upon the stars and they predict her accident. After she awakens to a broken body, her father takes to his goblet and she steps into power in her kingdom at sixteen.

Her father said that no man would choose a half-broken princess. Is that how Prince Nicolao sees her after the accident? Her heart is unsure and out of fear she keeps him away to avoid a broken heart.

As soon the other kingdoms in the land determine the predicament of the Royal House of Kaloma, they too will prey on her vulnerability to steal her kingdom. She will have to confront new foes or lose it all.

What other said about the book:

Review by Roseanne Wilkins: A Golden Princess is a story about overcoming hardship and finding true love. This story is a clean romance suitable for pre-teens. I enjoyed the story of love and loss and finding love again through hardship. There aren’t many tales put in a medieval setting that involve strong female characters, especially characters who are physically challenged. Much of the relationship-building between the main characters is told in past perspective after Princess Nyala is injured. Moments are lived through her memories. When Nyala accepts her injuries and moves forward, the story takes off. It was good to read a story where the main character has to face a life very different from what she had planned. I love happily-ever-after’s, and Anna del C. Dye knows how to deliver.

The summer before we
turned thirteen, Aislin and I got to spend a whole month away at camp. It was
one of those all-purpose places that had a name worthy of Thoreau or a
retirement home. The camp had something for everyone, from hiking to skits, but
they stuck Aislin and me in different cabins and we rejoiced. Aislin was in
Bunk 3 with Jill and Bekah, who taught her how to sail and talk to boys. I was
in Bunk 9 with girls who wanted to try makeup and fawn over Derrick Ferrell.
They traded diving lessons for eyeliner tips.
New friends aside, we
couldn’t stand ignoring each other, so we ate dinner together and teamed up for
canoeing. We once swapped bunks and would have gotten away with it if Aislin’s
counselor hadn’t noticed that I had been cured of my hay fever.
Just after the Fourth
of July, disaster struck. Aislin’s counselor pulled me aside to ask where she
was. I hadn’t seen her and the same went for her friends and counselors. I
headed to my bunk after dinner in case my sister turned up there.
Shortly after dark,
Aislin started throwing rocks at my screen. I snuck out of the bunk and found
her hiding behind a birch tree. She was crying and naked and promised to tell
me everything if I could bring her some clothes and a tampon. I brought both of
them without asking questions and while she got changed, I sought out Nina, her
counselor.
Aislin told the
higher-ups that she’d gone skinny-dipping on a dare and someone had swiped her
clothes. Terrified that someone from camp would see her, she’d hidden in the
woods until night. Nina was sympathetic to the awkward teenager, but
skinny-dipping and going MIA were both against the rules. Aislin got kitchen
duty for her infraction and got told that the next time, parents would be
called.
Once we were alone,
Aislin told me that she’d spent all day with wings and the conviction that
she’d gone bonkers. I had no reason to doubt her, but I witnessed her
transformation the next day to prove that it wasn’t a hallucination. After
seeing my twin sister’s hands sprout feathers and watching her shrink to swan
size, I’d wondered if I was bonkers too.
When Aislin went
missing again, I knew exactly where to find her, but there was no way I was
telling Nina. So I shrugged miserably and said I hadn’t seen her that day.
The camp director
decided that both of us had problems with authority. My parents didn’t believe
that, but they didn’t argue when we were asked to leave camp early.

book

My Review:

Courting the Countess by Donna Hatch
This is a great tale about a young lady who gets caught in a compromising encounter with a notorious gigolo. Because the rascal is a second son, her father demands that his older brother, Richard Barrett, twelfth Earl of Averston, marry the girl. All the while Elizabeth hopes that Tristan will come through and elope with her, his true love. To her utter distress, Tristan has taken to his passion of wooing any woman that needs some loving.
The tale is not a new theme but is delivered powerfully and entertainingly. The characters are round and believable and stay true to their roles. I enjoyed the reading and the clean tale in this book. Courting the Countess by Donna Hutch is indeed a great read and a wholesome entertainment. I recommend it to those who enjoy clean historical romances and any young adult that enjoys this genre.

tour-banner-2

About the book:

Twenty year old Diana Forester, a country bred young woman fears that her inexperience and uncertainties has driven Mr. John Richfield away. On arriving back home from London, she learns that he is already there, ready to continue their acquaintance. If Diana thought that it was difficult in London, courting takes on a whole new aspect when Diana’s younger siblings become involved. She finds herself dealing with her own feelings, her sister, her younger brother, jealous members of a house party, a jilted suitor, and a highwayman as she falls in love with the charming Mr. Richfield.

cover-4

My review:

Chaotic Courtship by Bethany Swafford is not your typical Regency Romance. It has the expected drama but also a mystery involving a Highwayman. The characters are lovable and they are sound in their roles. The story is lighthearted, enjoyable and clean.

Diana is of age and as all young lady in this time of their life should find a husband. Her dowry is not a big one and two gentlemen have asked for her hand. The first one was her best friend and she could never love him that way. The second one is quite influential in many ways, which make her believe that he will be disappointed with her humble origins and soon be off to his own life.

Imagine her surprise when he arrived in her hometown even before she did. All seam perfect until her sister and her best friend decide that her husband to be is the notorious Highwaymen. The rumors could ruin him and how would he take it if he knew it was her sister who started the rumors?

The book:

book

When charming rake Tristan Barrett sweeps Lady Elizabeth off her feet, stealing both her heart and a kiss in a secluded garden, her brother challenges Tristan to a duel. The only way to save her brother and Tristan from harm—not to mention preserve her reputation—is to get married. But her father, the Duke of Pemberton, refuses to allow his daughter to marry anyone but a titled lord. The duke demands that Elizabeth marry Tristan’s older brother, Richard, the Earl of Averston. Now Elizabeth must give up Tristan to marry a man who despises her, a man who loves another, a man she’ll never love.Richard fears Elizabeth is as untrustworthy as his mother, who ran off with another man. However, to protect his brother from a duel and their family name from further scandal, he agrees to the wedding, certain his new bride will betray him. Yet when Elizabeth turns his house upside down and worms her way into his reluctant heart, Richard suspects he can’t live without his new countess. Will she stay with him or is it too little, too late?

This inspirational romance by EC Jackson is book two of the Hope series and is a standalone book.

My Review:

In A Living Hope by E. C. Jackson readers will find faith in Gods plan for each of his children. The main characters are religious and faithful normal people that struggled to fallow what God has in store for them. A few verses from the Bible are quoted and use to illustrate what the character is learning or visioning as a message from God to them. It isn’t a preachy book at all and is a clean romance that will help you see yourself between the pages.

Sadie was engage to a wonderful young man and believe that they were pick by God to belong to each other…that is until she has to help a shallow student from flunking a class. The guy obsess with the attention he gets from the opposite sex decided to get Sadie just because she doesn’t care about him. Now she want back in the relationship and have to struggled to get Kyle to see her as an adult with a different personality and strength than the confused girl he was engage to.

In all, I enjoyed A Living Hope by E. C. Jackson, for its entertainment and morals values. I would recommended to Adults as well as Young Adults the same. It could become a teaching tool for anyone who has fallen in love lately.

Synopsis:

That is, until the cops come around looking for him on suspicion of murder. When that very same best man, Foster McGuire, ends up bleeding in Audrey’s closet, she has no choice but to try and get him off the hook for a crime he didn’t commit.

Too bad there’s too many people, from an irritating homicide detective who’s way too attractive for Audrey’s own good, right to mob bosses, who don’t want to see Foster McGuire tell his story. Audrey is no detective. In fact, she’s a children’s librarian. However, there’s always room for some good old investigation work between story times, and she’s going to use the skills she knows to follow a trail that starts with murder and ends with betrayal, with a whole lot of guns in between.

My Review:

The Librarian Shoots a Gun an Audrey Scott Mystery by Amber Gilchrist is an investigation tale full of surprises and some humor. You will find diverse and interesting characters throughout the story. The Librarian Shoots a Gun is a murder mystery that will provide you a few hours in a world full of conspiracy and real life. It is a clean, delightful mystery solved by a small but very intelligent woman.

Audrey is a Librarian in charge of the program for kids in her home town of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is more than thirty and not yet married. Her cousin is getting married and the family decides to introduce her to the best man. The problem starts when he disappears from earth and is being hunted by the police for murder. The wedding is off, and the investigating policemen thinks that she knows where the guy is hiding. Since she has never seen the guy, she gets put out by the policemen and their suggestions. When the best man enters her room in the middle of the night, Audrey defends her five foot body with all she has, and breaks his nose. It is after this incident that she realizes that the best man doesn’t have anyone else he knows in Tulsa, and that he really wants her to help him. She starts her own investigation to prove the best man innocence, and gets entangled with the mafia, dead people and crooked policemen, but the most dangerous part is when her heart decides to fall for the wrong man.

The Librarian Shoots a Gun is not a romance, so don’t expect a happy ending, but you will get all the mysteries resolved. It is great reading for even a Young Adult although it is meant as an adult mystery. You can’t go wrong with this story.

My review:

A Gateway to Hope by E. C. Jackson is a beautiful story about a Christian girl that is to quiet for anyone to noticed, including her family. One day she does something out of character for her and leave town for two weeks with out telling her family before hand. Why you wonder? She is going to become engage with the guy she is in-love with to help him get his position back in his father dominion business. It all work perfectly until the get back to town and his other girlfriends try to get him back.

This book is about faith in Gods plans for us and open mind to fallow his ways. The main character is a religious girl and small passages in the bible are quoted in a few place throughout the story. Even so there isn’t a lot of preaching in this book just a pleasant remainder of how we can have a better life if we listen to God and let Him help us.

A gate away to hope is a nice pace story that will help you feel great and you will be rotting for both main characters. It has great moral values that need to be share more often in romances. This is a simple and clean romance tale for all to enjoy without reserve. A Gateway to Hope by E. C. Jackson is a great reading material and a well-done book. Happy readings.

Existence by Carolyn Frank

Sunday, May 29th, 2016

My review: 5 stars

Existence by Carolyn Frank is a YA book with likable characters and real life problems. Josh is a new student at his high school and first day he get stack with Ester the weird girl in his class. There is mystery about her and possible murder in her family.

For his part Josh come from a trouble home. They had to move in a hurry and his mother had to go back to work because of it. His father is a grumpy man that wants to live his dreams through Josh without any care of what kind of life his son is living because of it. Pretty much a micromanager and a negative man that seam to have a problem being alive and letting his family have a life of their own.

Tuesday, May 17th, 2016

“A Lost Faith Is Never Too Far Gone”
Serena is devastated when her lifelong friend, Aminadab, is banned from Zarahemla for abandoning his faith and persecuting the saints. To add to her despair, she loses the rare ruby her father entrusted to her and she feels all is lost.
Unbeknownst to her, Aminadab finds the ruby, and takes it as his only reminder of Serena. As an outcast, Aminadab and his company of dissenters seek refuge among the Lamanites, who happen to be the very people who killed his parents. Not only is his anxiety high for being surrounded by these bloodthirsty people, but he quickly discovers he’s in the middle of a Gadianton plot to start a war between the Nephites and Lamanites.
Selling the ruby soon becomes the only option Aminadab has at escaping the volatile life he finds himself in. However, this act might forever banish him from ever being in Serena’s graces again.

In D Vansen’s Book of Mormon adventure, Aminadab must choose which side he’s on in a reflective journey of self-discovery, while Serena must stay faithful and hold onto the hope that a lost faith is never too far gone.

D Vansen lives in Northern Utah with her family. After serving a LDS mission, she developed a love for the Book

of Mormon and its eternal truths. She claims that if you ever want the scriptures and its characters to come to life,
plot a novel from them. She loves all things artistic, unless it involves combining food ingredients. Thank heavens
she has children that will help with that specific talent.

What a treat this book has been for me. I truly enjoyed the tale and the characters in it. I believe this is an excellent piece for young adults as young as 10 years old and up. It is a great book to learn about choices, repentance, forgiveness. It will also help many to make better choices in their lives and stay closer to the faith of their fathers. It is excellent material without being preachy and is presented in a non-threatening way. You enjoy a clean read from the first page to the end.
Serena, is devastated when her best friend Aminadab is banished from their city because he is associated with a radical group some members of which had killed some members of the church of God that she belong to. The same day she loses her father’s precious stone, a treasure that was passed to her by him and the lost off it that will bring great sadness to her family.
How can she keep the faith when all seems lost to her?
In this book you will find a great tale with some elements from the Book of Mormon and some elements from the author’s imagination. In all it works beautifully, but is not considered doctrine. It is an excellent work of art. I loved it.

My Review: 5 stars

Where Shadows Dwell Book 1 by Author Juliannne Kelsch is a murder-mystery-romance with abuse. I enjoyed this story all the way to the end. It is a sweet romance that includes a mystery, many bodies, and two people who are trying to make it through life with their hearts and their bodies intact.

As fate would have it, they find each other under the most interesting circumstances. However, they both have to trust in each other before they can let their hearts be healed by the love from the other.

But what can you do when the twists keep making you break up? Read this book and find out.

The characters in this story are lovable, at least all the ones you should love; and hateful all the ones that should be hated. This entire story will keep you interested to the end, and leave you feeling warm and cozy.

This is a refreshingly clean book with violence, not to descriptive or gory. I would recommend it to adults and young adults alike. It will help you define rules that you should live your life by if you have common sense. It’s not preachy, but teaches good morals; a thing that should never be out of fashion. What a great job, read away.

I received a copy of the book from Loving The Book in exchange for an honest review.

Love Under Construction blurb

What do you do when your boss makes someone else the lead on a big renovation project that should rightfully be yours? You quit. On second thought, that might not be the best idea, but Charlee Jackson has never been one for second thoughts. Instead, she lands a big contract of her own. She’s jumping into her new life—work boots, tool belt and all. Now she just needs to form a company and hire contractors and buy supplies and get an office and not fall in love with her former boss’s son. Yeah. Definitely not that last one.

51a+BEDXopL._SX336_BO1,204,203,200_

You can’t date someone who works for you, but now that his dad let Charlee walk out the door, Peter Elliot is considering his options. Charlee was their top renovation expert, his best friend’s sister, and the only thing that made the drudgery of running a large construction business bearable. But how do you date a competitor, especially one your father is trying to drive out of business? It would be stupid to make your dad angry right before he retires and hands the company over to you. Right?

When Charlee and Peter are scheduled to work on the same Indulgence Row house, their feelings and priorities are put to the test. They need to make a choice, and they better be quick about it, because the whole mixture is curing fast and threatening to crumble to pieces.

My Review: 5 stars

Love Under Construction by Danyelle Ferguson is a delightful clean romance that will help you escape your life for a few hours. It is the kind of book that you want to read on a lazy day with a cool drink in the summer or a hot cocoa in the winter. Either way you will find it a great escape from your everyday life. The ending will make you say “Ohhhhhhhhh” and sigh.

Love Under Construction is a great story about two normal people that need to sort out their feelings for each other and their personal ghosts. It is fun to see how Charlee, the main character grows and the different things she learns and the progress she had during the telling. Peter also has some growing to do, and they need to learn how to relate to each other.

Being her own boss means a lot of pressure falls on Charlee’s shoulders. This is a pressure that heightens when she discovers that Peter, her brother’s best friend, may have feelings for her. However, the problem only arises when Peter’s father comes between them, out of revenge, and pandemonium breaks loose.

Love Under Construction is a clean book even for YA, but it is intended for adults. Enjoy…
