by
Laurisa White Reyes
Genre:
YA Contemporary

On
Christmas Eve, a horrific car accident leaves Carly Perez without a
mom. After a year of surgeries and counseling, Carly’s life is
nearly back to normal—except for the monsters—vague, twisted
images from the accident that plague her dreams. When her father
insists on spending their first Christmas alone in Guatemala with a
slew of relatives Carly has never met, she is far from thrilled, but
she reluctantly boards the plane anyway.

That’s
where she first spots the man with the scarred face. She could swear
she has seen him before. But when? Where?

In
Reu, the Guatemalan town where her father grew up, Carly meets
Miguel, her attractive step-cousin, and thinks maybe vacation won’t
be a total waste after all. Though she is drawn to him, Carly’s
past holds her back—memories that refuse to be forgotten, and a
secret about the accident that remains buried in her subconscious.
And everywhere she turns, the man with the scarred face is there,
driving that unwelcome secret to the surface.

Secrets
and Souls
Prequel
to The Soul Guide
by
Kelly Stock
Genre:
Urban Fantasy

Set
forty years before The Soul Guide, this is a story of Bertram and
Mellissa…

“You
think I don’t know that you’re keeping secrets from me? I am not
the only liar here…”

The
last thing Bertram expected after his grandfather’s death was to
find himself the owner of Clayhill Manor, a decrepit mansion with
little going for it other than musty rooms filled with moth-eaten
furniture and mice. But at least he gets to maintain the solitary
life he’s used to. That is, until red-headed beauty, Mellissa,
walks into his home and changes his life forever.

With
one touch of her hand, Bertram finds himself part of world he never
knew existed. Where he is the Caretaker, and Mellissa the Soul Guide.
Where doors appear out of nowhere and he’s the only one who can see
them.

Together
they must face a strange new world hidden just beneath the surface. A
world which contains the pure of soul and malevolent creatures that
lurk in the dark.

But
Mellissa holds secrets within her, secrets that hurt her heart. With
a past that she’s unwilling to share with a man who is falling in
love with her, can they put their feelings aside and fulfil their
roles or will her secrets tear them apart?

Apart
they are weak, together they are stronger, and the Mephisto are
always watching.

Reviews:

I’ve
just finished the soul guide and I’m feeling very impatient for book
2! This is a great fantasy read, intriguing, with characters you
really want to know more about! It’s hard to believe this is the
author’s first novel, there’s so much detail and depth to the
characters and story. Well worth a read.”

Wow!
I could not put this book down. The way Kelly writes encaptures you
and takes you to another place. Her vivid imagination and the way she
describes every detail enables you to picture in your mind being
there with Sybil on this spiritual journey. It only took me two days
to read and I can’t wait for the next instalment to see what happens
next.”

This
book, well written and with a great story line, had me hooked from
the start and I can’t wait for the next one in the series.”

The
Soul Guide is a unique, fast-paced, beautifully-written book.
Immediately it sucked me in, and it was hard to put down. Kelly Stock
has woven together a story with interesting characters and a truly
imaginative plot. In a way, reading this felt like gazing upon
beautiful artwork. Every chapter revealed a new layer of the story,
intriguing me further and making me even more curious about what was
to come. What a treat this book was to read!”

Tortured Souls
The Soul Guide Series
Book 2
Releases
October 21st!

Still
reeling from the secrets revealed within the Veil, Sybil finds
herself getting more than she’d ever bargained for. Having to manage
her new gifts is hard enough let alone having to cope with the
barrage of memories that aren’t even her own.
Could
becoming the Soul Guide be the biggest mistake of Sybil’s life or her
bravest decision yet? She couldn’t tell you, to busy dealing with the
responsibility that her new role brings and avoiding the growing
residents of Clayhill to find out.

And
yet, hiding away isn’t an option.

With
the arrival of terrified young Estelle, Sybil is forced to face
reality and become the warrior she was destined to be. There are far
worst things happening beyond the safety of Clayhill and she doesn’t
have the option of turning a blind eye, especially when the ‘worst
things’ involve her own beloved dad.

With
Estelle’s revelations, action must be taken. Can the unlikely group
work together to save the children locked away in the depths of the
Masters home or will the Mephisto succeed in tearing them apart? Read
book two of The Soul Guide series to find out.

In
Tortured Souls, alliances are made, friendships are forged, hearts
are broken and the battle of light versus dark has truly begun.

Born
and bred in London, UK, Kelly is a 38 year-old multitasking mum,
wife, colleague, friend, daughter, sister and lastly, but by no means
least, writer.

Her love of
writing started when she began her Creative Writing degree at North
London University in 1999. She hasn’t always wanted to be a writer,
her first job of choice was a Vet, but that dream died when she
realized she was allergic to most, small, furry animals. But, she has
always loved to read, and that’s where her passion for writing
began.

After finishing her
degree in 2002, she didn’t put pen to paper, or fingers to
keyboard, until thirteen years later. Life, in all its wonderful
glory got in the way. Then when her youngest went to school full-time
she had precious time on her hands. It was during this time that
Bertram, Sybil, and Alec were conceived and her first novel, The Soul
Guide was born.

In her spare time you
can find Kelly, reading, bringing up her kids the best way she knows
how, and trying desperately not to make a fool of herself on social
media.

Like two pieces of a puzzle, they fit together perfectly

Leave the Pieces Behind
by Shirley Anne Edwards
Genre: YA Romance
Bree
Apollo is an average fifteen-year-old girl: she loves chocolate,
baking cupcakes, and her neighbor, the hunky and all around popular
seventeen-year-old Foster Quinn. Except Foster is clueless about her
feelings for him, instead treating her like a kid sister and begging
for her homemade desserts. As a fellow chocolate lover, he should be
Bree’s for the taking, if it weren’t for his oh-so-perfect
girlfriend.
After
she overhears Foster making fun of her to his friends, she’s
devastated. And not even chocolate can take away the pain. She
intends to wallow in grief for a boy that was never hers to begin
with, but Austen, her eccentric new neighbor has other ideas.
The
strange boy down the street always wears a black fedora, walks
barefoot, and focuses all his energy on building a treehouse in his
backyard. For some reason, he’s elected Bree to help him. At first,
she turns him down because he acts too awkward and takes everything
she says literally. But after learning of his autism, she decides to
help with his construction (forgiving him for not being a chocolate
fan), even though she doesn’t know a think about power tools.
As
Bree and Austen grow closer, Foster notices Bree no longer worships
the ground he walks on. He wants her to go back to that doting
version of Bree, but Austen has become more important to her than
she’s ready to admit.
Austen
may just be the one to help her move on from Foster.
Like
two pieces of a puzzle, they fit together perfectly.

Snippet:
The door to the workroom opened and
the young princess entered. Her hair was as black as midnight and
adorned with a simple gold circlet. Her skin, the color of moonlight, appeared
even lighter against the dark blue fabric of her gown. But her most striking
feature was her lips the color of ripe strawberries.
“I heard yelling,” she
said.
“I dropped something. I didn’t
mean to disturb you, your highness,” Anessa answered.
“That’s a lovely necklace. Do
you need help putting it on?”
“Yes. I’ll ring for one of the
maids.”

“Oh, they’ll never come. They’re
too afraid of being turned into a toad by the Witch Queen.” She clasped a
hand to her mouth. “I’m sorry. You’re her. I meant no offense. They’ll do
anything you ask. They’re just afraid of magic after what happened to
Mother.”

Recently forced into
the underwater city of Atlantis, Emma Harris has managed to avoid marrying the merman who brought her, but her grandfather—the Sea King—insists that joining with the abusive Merrick is inevitable. When Emma discovers a poison that might
restore her human lungs, she goes in search of the rare creature that carries it, prepared to try the poison no matter the cost, so she can return home to her family—and to James.
Since his girlfriend went missing, James’ depression has destroyed his chance at a basketball scholarship and incurred the wrath of his uncle, who was once his strongest supporter. When the police inform him that he’s a suspect in Emma’s mysterious disappearance, James sells his beloved motorcycle to buy a boat so he can find Emma and prove his innocence before going on trial for a murder he didn’t commit.
With destiny against them, it’s only a matter of time before both are imprisoned forever.

Snippet:
“What is fire? How
does it change a fish?” Maia planted herself on a stool near Emma’s dressing
table, riveted by details of another way of life. “Will you tell me all about
the land? Tell me where you’ve come from and the ways of human people, and I
will show you where you belong and the ways of the Mer.”
Thoughts of James
and her family engulfed Emma, stealing her ability to talk, and move, and exist
underwater. Everything here was different, even language. The Mer would never
understand what she’d lost, because they didn’t understand emotions the way she
did, and some feelings couldn’t be explained. But maybe if she told someone,
unloaded some of the burden, she would at least find the strength to go on.
She rolled onto
her side and faced Maia over the edge of her hammock. “Fire is like holding
captive a slice of the sun.”
“But the sun is
dangerous, my Princess, as is the air.”
Emma remembered
the warmth on her shoulders, the brightness in her eyes and the breeze in her
hair as she drove her convertible up the coast. How it felt to breathe, to
recognize scents and feel the difference in altitude whenever she went anywhere
far. The sweltering heat of dry sand beneath her feet, grass under her fingers,
the cool, rough stones in her cove that lacked formations and moss. She
remembered the fear of her past, the pain of fists connecting with her face and
body, the stabbing wounds inflicted every time judging eyes trailed her in the
halls at school, and finally understood that what had happened then was part of
another lifetime.
That was before.
Before James had come into her life and forced her to feel again. Made her
proud to be who she was, regardless of what that meant. Her past had no bearing
on her future, and only as little or as much meaning to her true self as she
allowed.
“The sun is a
wonder, Maia.” She rose from her hammock and used the mini-spear—intended for
opening clams—to draw a round sun on the sandy floor. “Glorious and warm. A
bright orange ball in the sky that forces people outside, urges plants to grow,
and heats the surface of land.”
A memory James
flashed in her mind—the fervor in his eyes, the security of his embrace, and
the ferocity with which he’d defended her and Keith, despite her initial
resistance to his advances. “The sun and its fire can transform water into air.
It burns with the zap of an eel, and squeezes as the tentacles of an octopus
around your middle. It can turn white skin red, and then make it fall off,
leaving behind pale, new layers.”
Maia shifted, but
her attention remained riveted on the circular pattern Emma carved into the
sand. “I don’t believe I would like fire.”
“Fire dwells
inside me,” Emma told her, entranced by her own hypnotic drawing. “Fire. Not
water. I have to find a way to go home.”

He smelled the raw river of Shadow tech, then he saw it: The claws …

Thursday, October 26th, 2017
Lord Belmont’s life ended in Clovis, in the impenetrable darkness beneath the ground where forbidden rites were once held. Lady Gwendolyn was his love, body and soul, and the Demon in Blue Light killed her.

Every year, on the anniversary of Gwen’s death, he returned to Clovis to stand in the cold desolation, hearing the wind moan through the lonely passes, feeling her loss all over again.

On this anniversary, he wasn’t alone in Clovis. He heard the noises rustling in the brush. He smelled the raw river of Shadow tech. Then he saw it:

The claws …
The flicking tail …
The maniacal, glittering eyes fixed on him …
“I’ve been waiting for you,” it said in a grating voice as it attacked.
* * * * *

Far away, across the cosmos in a city of wondrous crystal towers, two people watch in horror as the desperate scene at Clovis unfolds. They had worked so hard, sacrificed so much, even argued for it before the gods. They convinced the gods they were right, that they knew best, and everything would go well.

But, things weren’t going well at Clovis.

If this situation went poorly, then ages worth of work would be lost, and, just possibly, the universe might come to an end.

“I can’t believe you guys get up so early to swim,” said Kelsey.
“Don’t
remind me,” said Erica. She looked like she was ready to fall asleep at the table.
“It’s only three times a week,” said Mel, “and it’s not mandatory, but anyone who’s serious about swimming makes it.”
“Not
Aerin,” said Erica, giving me a sidelong glance.
“Hey,
I’ve got gym first period. I don’t want to work out in the pool, dry off, and then hit the gym.”
“A weak excuse,” Erica said.
“And, unlike you two, I don’t have a ride, remember?”
“You could walk,” Erica suggested. “You only live a half mile from the school.”
“At five-thirty in the morning? No thanks.”
Mel finished the rest of her orange juice and crushed the carton in one hand before putting it down on the table. “Tatiana has gym first period, and she makes morning practice. And a few of the other girls walk to practice in the dark, so that’s no big deal. Aerin doesn’t come because Aerin is a slacker.” She met my eyes straight on.
“Ooooh,” said Erica, sitting upright. “This is getting interesting.”

What would you do if a phantom took up residence in your closet?

Tuesday, October 24th, 2017

Ann lives in Texas with her husband and rescue pets. She taught reading and other subjects for a number of years before leaving to devote more time to her first love—writing. Reading with children was always her favorite part of teaching.

Cool Well Press published her ghostly series for the young at heart, Stevie-girl and the Phantom Pilot, Stevie-girl and The Phantom Student, and Stevie-girl and The Phantom of Crybaby Bridge.

Her adult novels—All For Love, women’s fiction, and the suspense trilogy Stutter Creek, Lilac Lane, and Copper Lake, are all published by 5 Prince Publishing.

Takers, Ann’s foray into speculative fiction, was released earlier this year.

She has won several awards for fiction since her college days and has had short stories and essays published in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, The Binnacle, Timeless, an anthology, Seasonal Sweet, and Suspenseful, an anthology, Jitter Press, Fictionterrifica, The Rusty Nail, The Sandstorm, Reflections, an anthology, and Blue Mountain Review.

Snippet:
The West Texas night wind whispered and whistled around the window
frames. I was in my mom’s favorite chair reading The Tell-Tale Heart when I heard the stuttering drone of a small
plane. In our rural setting, it sounded very low and very loud.
Then the noise stopped.

Lady, the German shepherd I’d found lying mangled and near death
beside the road, was standing in front of the picture-window, head cocked to
one side.
The silence was thick and cold.

As we watched, the tail of a small plane disappeared behind the
line of firs west of the house. There was still no sound but the wind.

I dialed the operator and told her what I’d seen. She immediately
patched me through to the Sheriff’s office so I could tell the dispatcher what
had happened. Then I ran outside to see what I could see. Lady was right behind
me.

American writer Nora Tierney is house hunting in Oxford to solidify her little family that includes her almost-year old son, Sean, and her partner, Det. Insp. Declan Barnes. But why does she feel like he’s being followed?
When tracking devices confirm Nora has a stalker, it sets off a chain of events that connect to Declan’s murder investigation of a young Oxford art restorer, and will bring bioterrorism and a psychopath into their lives, while Sean’s hangs in the balance. The fourth Nora Tierney English mystery is the most tension-filled yet, a meditation on what is family and home, combined with art theft and an international conspiracy.

This is the fourth book in the series and while it can be read as a standalone it is so much more enjoyable if you read the series in order! So find the entire series below.

Snippets:
(From Ch 2:)
“I wanted to talk to you again about the money Paul left
me, Declan.”
“And I’ve told you each time you bring it up, Nora, that I don’t
need the gritty details. That money’s for you and Sean.”
“Yes, but surely you must have questions, and with this house
hunting—”
“You’ve said it’s adequate to take the burden off you, and to
buy a house alone.” Was this her way of asking if he wanted to live with her?
“That’s all I need to know. It’s tough to be jealous of a dead man, Nora.” His thoughts tumbled over each other.
Did he really mean that? Was Nora really over Paul Pembroke?
She’d told him it would never have worked with Paul, yet she’d recently developed a relationship with his parents. But then, they were her baby’s family, too. “I’m just glad it’s relieved your financial pressure,” he ended.
At least that was a true statement.
“True British reticence,” she muttered, shaking her head.

Scientists attempted to find a cure for addiction. They failed

Sunday, October 22nd, 2017
Tainted
Cure
The
Rememdium Series Book 1
by
Ashley Fontainne
Genre:
Post-apocalyptic, SciFi

Scientists
attempted to find a cure for addiction. They failed.

Dr.
Everett Berning, a leading researcher into the causes of addiction in
the brain, spent ten years of his life dedicated to one thing:
finding the cure. Recruited after a strange encounter with the
enigmatic Dr. Roberta Flint, Director of Research on Code Name:
Rememdium, Dr. Berning is sent to work in a secret lab as part of the
research team.

When
the moment the scientists waited on for years arrives, Dr. Flint and
her team are ecstatic.

Unfortunately,
not everyone in the world feels the same way.

Benito
San Nicholas isn’t ready to give up his lucrative business. When the
news of a cure arrives on his doorstep from a crooked informant,
Benito enlists the help of other drug lords from around the world to
stop the cure from hitting the streets and destroying their
livelihoods.

What
happens next ends up uniting the globe–just not the way society ever
intended or hoped.

Tainted
Cure is a huge success on different levels. First, the story is
original, well thought-out, and brilliantly accomplished. It’s not
unusual to read books with dangerous products falling into the wrong
hands, but what happens when a good product falls into the wrong
hands? The characters are lovely and engaging, and readers will feel
inclined to connect with Dr. Everett Berning and the enigmatic
Roberta Flint. Benito is the epitome of evil, a greedy character that
readers will hate. Third, the pace is fast and there are so many
surprises and twists to keep readers turning the pages. Ashley
Fontainne has crafted an intriguing story that starts with a bang and
ends on a very high note. You can’t help but fall for this author’s
beautiful prose, her complex characters, and the oh-so-entertaining
read.” – Romuald Dzemo for Readers’ Favorite

Mr. Withers sat across from them, a
stack of papers spread out for easy access. He first read all the parts of the
will that pertained to Grant, and then he read the parts that pertained to
Sybil. He then took an envelope, passed it across the table to Sybil, and
advised her to visit the bank after leaving his office.
“You deducted the money spent on me
in America, I’m sure?” Sybil asked as she tucked the envelope into her
reticule.
“Actually, I’d like you to consider
your time in America as a gift from me,” Grant said. He felt terrible about
everything that had happened, and if he could ease his conscience in any way,
he would do it.
She turned to him with eyes of fire.
“I beg your pardon?”
“Please, it’s a gift. You deserve the
full sum of your inheritance.”
She sat up a little straighter. “Do
you mean to tell me that I’m to consider the clothing and the stay in the
Palace Hotel a gift? Lord Douglas, that might be one of the most offensive
things anyone has ever said to me. No respectable woman, whether high bred or
low, would accept such personal things from a man. It’s insulting and
demeaning.” She pulled the envelope back out and tossed it at him. “I
respectfully request that you remove the appropriate amount of money from that
envelope, sir.”
Grant was thoroughly taken aback.
“Honestly, Sybil, I had no idea—”
“Miss James will suit, Lord Douglas.”
Her voice was so cold and her eyes were so hard, he had no reasonable choice
but to open the envelope and withdraw some of the money. He couldn’t remember
all the sums, so he made a guess and passed the envelope back to her. “Thank
you. Now I believe I’ll be on my way.”

Someone has decided to become the moral compass for the women in town, and now they’re turning up dead. It will be up to Detective Lacy Pratt to find their killer before her relationship with Declan Matthews, brother to one of the victims,
marks her as a target.

Snippet:
Shadows darkened the path. Branches hovered above him, some with
lingering leaves, others bare.
“Taking a stroll, Matthews?” Lacy’s voice cut through the quiet.
He turned to see her walking toward him, her hands in the pockets
of her black jacket.
“Trying to clear my head.”
“And this is where you chose?” she asked as she came to stand next
to him.
“I have more good memories here than bad ones.”
A smile formed on her lips, though it didn’t match her eyes, which
were dark and tired. “I assume when you grew up here, there weren’t as many
people on this path running.”
He shook his head. “Lot more trees, less traffic. It was
secluded.”
Reaching her hand out to him, she touched his arm. “I remember.”
Declan slid a glance to her hand. “What a time, huh?”
She moved her hand down until it gripped his. “You might not
believe it, but I think of it fondly. It was hard to settle in here, to move on
from what happened to my family. You helped me settle, Matthews.”

He felt that unraveling feeling move over him again, with her hand
holding his. Perhaps that’s what caused him to pull her to him, embracing her
tightly as he warded off the rush of pain that attacked him.

TOP TEN AUTHORS I LIKE

I’ve got this bad habit of making Top Ten lists for everything.

Naturally, as a wordsmith, books and authors are two categories I am wholly interested in. You’d think after four decades of life I would have a clearly defined set of favorite authors and books, lined up and ready to go. Except as my tastes change, and I read more books, my TOP TEN AUTHORS list changes, too. Not too much. Just a little here and there. And sometimes I drop someone and then add them right back. Or I find a new favorite and rip through fifteen of their books. The woes of a reader.

Narrowing down favorite books is pretty tough. I’ll do that another time. For now, here are my favorite authors. Drum roll please…

  1.  Charles Dickens

Coming in at #10 is Charles Dickens. While some kids despised being forced to read Dickens in high school, I secretly loved it. Dickens knew how to tell a story, and his writing was beautiful in a flowery, slightly overly wordy kind of way. Word Nerds Unite!

  1.  Nelson Demille

DeMille is one of the top writers in thriller & cop books, which is probably my favorite genre to read since I reached what I loosely call adulthood. The John Corey books are dynamite, especially if you’re into wisecracking and politically incorrect main characters.

  1.  James Michener

Michener was the master of research. He probably should have been named Google. He often traveled to places and did months of research before building a story around the historical facts.

  1.  Lee Child

Two words: Jack Reacher.

  1.  John Irving

I’ve always felt drawn to Irving’s writing. It’s quirky, and sometimes wordy like Dickens, but it’s got this hidden magic that I simply connect with.

  1.  John Grisham

Grisham is just a great writer. Period. The stories mostly revolve around lawyers and the lawyerly life, but hey … it works. Big time.

  1.  Robert Parker

I think I stumbled onto Parker at the recommendation of my dad. Once I bit into that first Spenser novel, I ripped through another twenty-five at an incredible pace. And the few westerns he did were the best. I only wish I’d discovered him sooner.

  1.  Harlan Coben

I had the pleasure of meeting Harlan Coben in 2015. What a down-to-Earth guy. I confessed to him that I’d never read one of his books. I only knew of his pending visit to Ramstein Air Base, in Germany, because I was tied into the library through our local writers’ group. He left such an impression that I ran out and grabbed one of his books the next day. Mr. Coben is one heck of a writer.

  1.  Ken Follett

Talk about beautiful, epic stories with history as the landscape. Pillars of the Earth, The Century Trilogy … all I can say is WOW!

  1. Stephen King

Yep, old Stephen King is my #1. He’s a dynamite writer and storyteller, as are the others on this list. So then:  why is King number one, and not one of these other fine yarn spinners? Fair or not, the answer to that will always be partially because he was the author that ignited the fire inside me as a reader, and his stories made me want to write stories of my own so that maybe I could make people feel that same magic.

And there you have it! My personal Top Ten Fave Authors, and probably my favorite top ten of all top tens. They aren’t any better or worse than YOUR top ten authors. Yours are yours, and mine are mine, and what brings author and reader together is something magical that’s different for everyone; it’s a personal affair.

*Honorable Mentions: Bret Easton Ellis, Hugh Howey, Blake Crouch, Donna Tartt, and Charles Bukowski.

Thanks for sharing time with me. Keep reading, world!

She must become the weapon that will take the Mafia down once and for all

Friday, October 20th, 2017
“Cindy M. Hogan is a bestselling author of young adult suspense and action and adventure novels that always have a dash of clean romance. After her first series, The Watched Series, skyrocketed her to number one, she hasn’t let up and now has over 20 novels to her name.
She’s always on the move and never sits down to write, instead she walks
and talks into a recorder and lets her computer transcribe her words. If she
isn’t writing or editing, she’s teaching, gardening or doing crafts. You’ll always find her listening to an audiobook while working in her park-like yard, cooking or baking something delicious. She dreams to someday have a German
style bakery with a cute to-go window for Gelato.
Cindy loves to create and her most prized creation is her two amazing daughters, and she secretly wishes they were teenagers again. She loves to be home, but her husband is a die-hard traveler and takes her family around the world. During her travels, she finds an endless supply of story ideas, characters and settings, walking away with either a suntan or jetlag.
Her contagious laughter is the cure to almost anything. To read a novel of hers is to see a piece of Cindy, as she puts her all into every novel she writes.

The Mafia has a stranglehold on
everything Kate loves, and Kate is determined to end it. First they claimed her father, then destroyed her mother. The guy Kate cares for most is as much a prisoner as the family who raised her. And now, after all she’s lost, the Mafia wants to recruit her. But Kate has had enough. As long as the Mafia exists, she and her loved ones will live and die in fear, cowering under a dark,
all-encompassing power. That leaves Kate with little choice. With the help of
her Mafia-boss grandmother and a desperate wish for freedom, Kate must risk everyone she loves—and everything she is—to become the weapon that will take the Mafia down once and for all. If you like thought provoking, action-filled novels, you will love the latest action/adventure hit Kate Empowered by Cindy M. Hogan. Buy Kate Empowered to continue the addicting Code of Silence Series and
enter the chilling and gripping world of the Mafia

Snippet:
Kate continued to look at herself in the mirror, shifting uncomfortably
as the two women talked. The whole situation reminded her too much of training
with Veronica for Marconi’s club. Kate had been terrible at it, at least in the
beginning, though she had started catching on near the end. There wouldn’t be
time to acclimate this time. She’d be expected to perform right from the
get-go. A single mistake would get her killed and then what good was everything
she’d done? She would expose the whole family and get a lot of other people
killed too. She’d been a fool to think she could do this. Some people were made
to be heroic, like her grandma, Bruno, Pascal, Abramo, and Mario—but not her.
But she couldn’t totally give up. She had to see justice done. Maybe there was
a way she could help behind the scenes. Help someone else be the hero.

Horemheb, crosses mortal boundaries using Seth’s evil magic

Thursday, October 19th, 2017
I’m a retired high school English teacher. A devourer of books growing up, my profession introduced me to writings and authors from
times long past.

Through my studies and teaching, I fell in love with the Ancient and Medieval Worlds. Now, I hope to inspire young readers and those Young-at-Heart to read more through my Tales and Legends for Reluctant Readers
set in these worlds.

 home.

Snippet:
A shout from behind makes me turn. Tut is running after me, but it is not his voice that ignites the terror in my heart. It is mine screaming to hold on to life.
“No. No. NO!”
The force of the explosion flings me through the air like a rag doll. By the time I pick my head up a dense cloud of dust engulfs me. Too late I cover my face.
I’m choking, can’t breathe, can’t see! I’m dying!
Arms encircle my chest pulling me backwards. My legs scrape painfully across the debris- covered granite floor. Another pair of arms lifts my legs. Floating. That’s what it’s like. Dying is like floating on air.
My body touches solid ground. Voices, whispers really, penetrate my clogged brain. I hope this is heaven.
Without warning, I start coughing and gagging. My brain screams at me. “Fight! Breathe!”

Death of the Kona Man
An Aloha Lagoon Mystery
by Catherine Bruns
Genre: Cozy Mystery

From USA Today bestselling author Catherine Bruns comes the next deadly delicious Carrie Jorgenson adventure in paradise…

Carrie Jorgenson is living the dream in Hawaii. She has a steady job as a waitress at the Loco Moco Café, a hot new love interest in her manager, and the curtain’s about to rise on her role in a local theater production. But when she’s asked to deliver food to a guest at the Aloha Lagoon resort—who then drops dead!—her dreams quickly become the stuff of nightmares.

World renowned food critic Randolph Cremshaw has no shortage of enemies. He’s rude, patronizing, and famous for his one-star reviews. After the coffee Carrie delivers is discovered to have been poisoned, she and the café quickly rise to the top of the suspects list. A jealous co-worker, thefts at the restaurant, and a performance that threatens to blow up in Carrie’s face only make things worse. With an already full plate, Carrie is also forced into making a decision that may change everything for her. But this all pales in comparison when she comes face to face with Randolph’s killer and what might be the final curtain call…of her life.
