June’s Double Rainbow

Escape to Paris with this heartwarming, feel good romance to read in one sitting!

When love and monogamy fail…Her fiancé breaks off the engagement.

At first, June is stunned, but then, she is determined to move on to better things…like an unplanned trip to Paris for her job—where she falls deeply in love with a man from another part of the world. He wines and dines June; sweeps her off her feet; and ultimately, wins her heart. Their short romance echoes an endearing love. When she returns to the US, he calls her faithfully every day. Then suddenly, no call…

Can their love survive on different continents?

“An engaging story with beautiful imagery!”

In this heartwarming romance, June learns to embrace each challenge and wait for a transformation in her life.

This beautifully written romance is complete escapism. Each of the characters has been well developed, considering the length of the story, and the dialogue revealed a great deal about their personalities. ~ Lesley Jones for READERS FAVORITE

Adrienne Quintana is
the author of Eruption as well as several children’s books. When she isn’t
writing, Adrienne enjoys running, hiking, and matchmaking (Are you single? She
probably knows someone perfect for you.)

She lives in Arizona with her husband
and four children, who give her love, support, and plenty of good material for
Instagram.

  1. Adrienne, if you had 3 wishes, what would they be?

I’d wish that chocolate gave you abs, clothes folded themselves, and that people had furry ears and tails so you could read their emotions.

  1. Given unlimited resources, what would be your ideal writing environment?

A terrace on the Amalfi Coast with a hot Italian guy fanning me and feeding me grapes.

  1. Where do you actually write?

Usually the kitchen. Often in yoga pants. Always with a dog on my lap.

  1. How long does it normally take you to write a novel?

It’s getting progressively longer.  I wrote my first novel in two months, my second in about a year, and this one has been three years in the making.  With my family and other exciting publishing projects, I have limited time.  But writing is a passion, and I do it whenever I have a spare second.

  1. What are your inspirations?

Easy. My family always lifts and inspires me.

  1. How did you come to write this particular book or series?

The idea for this book has been in the back of my mind for years. I actually tried to convince my sister to write it.  She worked for Anasazi, a wilderness therapy program in Arizona, as a young adult and had some incredible experiences there.  Yvette has six children and is getting ready to publish her third children’s picture book. I think it was the fourth time I mentioned that she should write this book when she told me I should write it myself.  That was all the permission I needed.

High Sierra is a fictional wilderness therapy program loosely based on the Anasazi program, but the hiking takes place in Yosemite.  The characters hike the exact trails that my family traveled on our adventure in 2015 when my husband tore two tendons in his ankle and then insisted on hiking another 20 miles. I’ve poured a lot of myself and my personal struggles and experiences into this book.

  1. What was the hardest part of writing your book, and how did you overcome it?

Finding time is a huge obstacle for me to overcome as a writer.  Writing a novel over a long period of time presents challenges.  When you write every day, it’s easy to pick up where you left off.  When you’re working on a project for months and years, it’s easy to forget details. I had to do a lot of re-reading to refresh my memory before moving forward.

Who can Rebekah trust when the line between English and Amish becomes blurred?

Rebekah’s
Quilt
by
Sara Harris
Genre:
Historical Amish Romance

Who can Rebekah trust
when the line between English and Amish becomes blurred?

An Amish Settlement. An
English stranger. The Blizzard of 1888.

Rebekah’s
mother, Elnora Stoll, is the finest quilter in all of Gasthof Village
but it seems Rebekah has inherited none of her skill.
A
sweet and gentle love blossoms between Rebekah Stoll and her
childhood friend Joseph Graber, despite attempts by her saucy
nemesis, Katie Knepp, to sway the young man’s affections her way.
When Joseph hints at the promise of forever, Rebekah is positive she
should say yes to his proposal – until a mysterious English stranger
shows up at her homestead and sets everything she thought she knew
about her world on end.

“Ma?”

Rebekah slid her legs over the side of her bed, easing them down until her feet met the hardwood floor. Her father had laid this floor expertly in just a few days’ time, or so she’d heard tale.

Shards of pain sparked up her leg from her bad foot, making her stomach turn over. She choked on the yell that strangled in her throat as the rest of her body joined her feet on the floor. Tears blurred her wobbly vision.

A strained groan came from the direction of her parent’s room.

Rebekah shook the foggy stars from her head.

“Standing up isn’t really an option,” she reasoned as she sat on the chilled floor that had moments before been her ally. She flexed her multi-hued ankle. “Nope, certainly not an option.”

A series of pants echoed in the dark hallway.

“I’m coming, Ma.”

Ignoring the seeping dankness, she stretched out on the floor in her thin nightgown, Rebekah pulling herself along the smooth boards with her hands. She slithered to the doorway like a snake through the grass.

Rebekah managed to navigate around the doorframe only to knock her head on something stationary that shouldn’t be there. “Ow!”

Her mother’s labored breathing drew Rebekah’s attention from her own sudden pain.

“Rebekah,” she rasped. She seemed completely oblivious to the fact that Rebekah’s head just met her nose. Hard.

“Ma, are you okay?” The absurdity of that question filled the air. Of course her pregnant mother, lying here alone in the early morning darkness, was not okay.

“The baby,” she started.

Rebekah didn’t wait for her to finish. She scurried to her mother’s feet and paled at what she saw.

By muted moonlight, it was obvious that the dark pool beneath her mother was blood.

“Mrs. Yoder said the baby wouldn’t be coming for a while,” Rebekah stammered. She chewed the inside of her lip as the sea of churning thoughts attempted to push a coherent solution to this predicament into the forefront of her mind. It wasn’t working.

Clear fluid puddled around her mother in stark contrast to the crimson stains. “Ahh,” Elnora gasped.

“Something’s wrong,” Elnora said, the tension causing her words to break in unnatural places. “With the baby, something’s wrong.”

The tears sprang up in Rebekah’s eyes without warning. “What Ma, tell me what’s wrong.” Rebekah swiped at her face with the back of her hand. “Tell me what’s wrong and I’ll fix it!”

A grunt from Elnora gave her pause. “I have to push!”

Fumbling with her mother’s nightgown, she sucked in a hard breath. “Ma, I see feet.”

Elnora stopped panting. “Feet?” She began to shake her head in tiny little shakes. “Oh Rebekah, no. No!”

“What do I do?” The hysteria was rising in her throat, pinging the ends of her words.

“Turn him. Turn the baby.”

The sea of thoughts began to churn again in Rebekah’s mind, this time vicious and wild.

“Ma,” she began. The icy fingers of fear clenched tight her throat. A very real pain seared there, just beneath her chin. “I don’t know what to do.”

“Dear Father,” Elnora prayed, oblivious to Rebekah’s plight, “Please turn the baby or he’ll die.”

Rebekah placed her hands alongside the tense bulge on Elnora’s stomach. “Please Father; help me save my little brother or sister.”

Caught
up in a whirlwind of dreams and evil plots, both must confront their
own demons in order to save each other, testing the powers of fate
and love.

   Excerpt:

Ana enjoyed the calmness of the afternoon, and listened to his soothing, hypnotic voice for a while. Thoughts of a prior discussion on the vampire ceremony entered her mind, and she felt a need to understand the process better.

“What exactly do you mean bytasteyour blood?” She suddenly straightened and turned her head to stare at him.

For almost an hour Andree explained the details of the traditional vampire wedding ceremony.

“There will be two ceremonial daggers, sharp, with our names engraved on them. You will use the one—”

“Use? Are you telling me that I have to cut you in a room—an underground room—in the presence of hundreds of vampires? Are you for real? Are you—?”

Andree laughed and held her closer to him.

She could appreciate his gesture, but it didn’t help her feel better. It was bad enough she stood in that room the other night, under the scrutinizing glares. Adding blood to the equation wasn’t something to look forward to.

“You will cut your initial in the palm of my hand, here,” he explained, indicating a spot on his palm, right under his thumb. “I will do the same, and you will not feel a thing. Daniel will be right there with his spray. It will be quick and painless.”

“But what about the blood? I mean—”

“Nobody will attack you or me, guaranteed. It is part of the ceremony.”

“I’m not sure about it. You guys in general go crazy when you see or smell blood.”

“Ana, tasting my blood is a symbol. I am giving you my life, just as you will give me yours. It is what will bind us for eternity.” He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed her palm, sending tingles, as if a million tiny ants marched through her veins. “As I already told you, the ceremony is short, but every word we say, every gesture, symbolizes something.”

“Can’t we do all that without the blood part?” With the tingles melted away, and a nervous energy replacing them, she dared to gaze at him.

“We are vampires, Ana. Blood is life.”

The Piccadilly Street Series, book two, Mrs. Murray’s Hiding Treasure by Emily Jane Hill Orford is a magical and great read for elementary school children. It is clean, easy to read and entertaining. The characters are well done, interesting and a good mix for children’s books. They consist of: a witch, Penelope; the savior and main character, Mary; her best friend and guardian, Rosie; the brownies; and the Ghost, Mrs. Murray.

In the first book, Mary gets sick due to an enchantment from Penelope and almost dies. While her body fights the sickness, her spirit appears in a magic world. When Mary finally comes back, the witch, her assistant Elizabeth, and a brownie trapped there a century, came back with her. In her quest to find Mrs. Murray’s treasure the witch makes life impossible for Mary and her friend Rosie. The brownies and Mrs. Murray are kept on their toes trying to save the girls.

This is a well done, great read for the whole family and a good addition to anyone’s library.

Angie, struggles to unravel who she is and where she came from; instead the mystery of her identity deepens

Thursday, May 23rd, 2019

Wendy C. Jorgensen grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and began
writing in second grade, furiously recording her hopes and dreams in a denim-covered diary. Besides hanging out at the library, she loved soaking up the rays—while reading a book, of course. During her sophomore year of high
school, Wendy’s family moved to Carson City, Nevada, and she thought her life
had ended. The desert, sagebrush, and cowboys were a far cry from the ocean,
palm trees, and surfers of Florida. Fortunately, within six months, the family
relocated to Lake Tahoe, and her outlook improved dramatically.
Wendy started college at the University of Colorado in Boulder,
followed by a year at the University of Nevada in Reno and two years at Brigham Young University, where she worked as a reporter and copy editor for The Daily Universe. A decision to take a short break from school turned into a
twelve-year college hiatus in Lake Tahoe. After a two-year stint in the civil
engineering program at California State University in Sacramento, Wendy
returned to Colorado and graduated from CU with a degree in English Writing. It
was a long, but valuable, educational journey.
After twenty years in Colorado, Wendy recently moved back to
Northern Nevada, close enough to Lake Tahoe to enjoy the beautiful scenery but
far enough away to escape the heavy winters. She lives with a wonderful
husband and a golden retriever who’s often mistaken for a sloth. Her
two brainy and creative sons make her want to be smarter. Wendy hopes someday to journey to the stars.

with the intriguing Michael Winter leads her over the Sierras to Lake Tahoe,
where she’s nearly abducted. As she escapes to Colorado, she struggles to unravel who she is and where she came from; instead the mystery of her identity deepens.

Her only hope is to find the truth before it’s too late.

Snippet:
When we
entered the hospital morgue, Dr. Burns and Penny each took one of my arms as if they could protect me from what was about to occur. A faint, sickly odor
emanated from the icy cold, meticulously clean chamber. A somber technician
guided us to the bodies which were covered with sheets and lying side by side.
I shuffled over and braced myself as the covers were pulled down to reveal what
lay beneath.

I gasped at the still, pale faces.
Something deep inside of me reacted to the man and woman. Both were blond and sharp-featured, and the woman’s fingers were long like mine. Even though I
couldn’t identify them, I felt certain these people meant a great deal to me. Tears
of sorrow mixed with frustration sprang to my eyes. Were these really my
parents? Would I ever remember?

Snippet:
When we
entered the hospital morgue, Dr. Burns and Penny each took one of my arms as if
they could protect me from what was about to occur.

Both were blond and
sharp-featured, and the woman’s fingers were long like mine. Even though I
couldn’t identify them, I felt certain these people meant a great deal to me. Tears
of sorrow mixed with frustration sprang to my eyes. Were these really my
parents? Would I ever remember?

To
My Readers:

A
story just isn’t a story without a large dose of romance and a
happily ever after. THE ROAD TO BLISS is just that. This novel is a
beautiful tale of love and second chances, with plenty of fun, drama
and turmoil in between! My main character’s love affair feels so
real to me, to the point where I found myself rooting for her in
hopes that everything would work in her favor. Writing this book was
a wonderful journey, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I
enjoyed writing it!

A promising new YA series about a totalitarian America

Sunday, May 19th, 2019
Counteract
Resistance
Series Book 1
by
Tracy Lawson
Genre:
YA Dystopian Adventure

Who
do you trust when your world unravels and everything you believed is
a lie?

For
the past fifteen years, The Office of Civilian Safety and Defense has
guarded the public against the rampant threat of terrorism. Teenagers
Tommy and Careen have never known life without Civilian Restrictions.
For them, there’s no social media. No one is allowed to gather in
public places or attend concerts or sporting events. Only a small,
select group of adults have driving privileges, but it’s a small
price to pay for safety.

Now
a new, more deadly, terrorist threat looms: airborne chemical weapons
that can be activated without warning. The OCSD is ready with an
antidote to counteract the effects of the toxins. Three drops a day
is all it takes. It’s a small price to pay for health.

The
day the disaster sirens signal the dreaded attack, Tommy shares his
last dose with Careen, even though doing so might hasten his death.
It’s a small price to pay for a friend.Follow Tommy and Careen as
they uncover a web of lies and deceit reaching to the highest levels
of the United States government and join an underground resistance
group that’s determined to expose the truth.

“Counteract
is a novel for our times, but with a decidedly different plot twist.
Most dystopian thrillers focus on the devastating consequences of the
unleashed virus or poison on society, community, and the individual.
They become character studies of the protagonists and
antagonists.

“Tracy
Lawson’s novel asks an even more disturbing question–what if the
real culprit was someone or something we trusted? I thought The
Hunger Games might be the Millennial generation’s version of George
Orwell’s 1984. Now, I think Counteract and the Resistance Series are
more primed to take that spot.”–SR Staley, author of St. Nic,
Inc., and the Tortuga Bay series.

Resist
Resistance
Series Book 2

“I
loved the first book in this series so much that I jumped right into
the second one to continue the adventure. The Resistance Series is
another great YA dystopian adventure that combines elements of
thriller, romance, dystopian, and much more to create a well-rounded
story that is sure to appeal to many readers – it definitely has my
attention.”–TFL Reader, top 500 Amazon Reviewer

Knowledge
comes with a price.

Tommy
and Careen no longer believe the Office of Civilian Safety and
Defense’s miracle antidote can protect them from a terrorist’s
chemical weapons. After accidentally discovering the antidote’s real
purpose, they’ve join the fight to undermine the OCSD’s bid for total
control of the population.

Being
part of the Resistance brings with it a whole new set of challenges.
Not everyone working for change proves trustworthy, and plans to
spark a revolution go awry with consequences far beyond anything they
bargained for.

Tommy
and Careen’s differing viewpoints threaten to drive a wedge between
them, and their budding relationship is tested as their destinies
move toward an inevitable confrontation with the forces that
terrorize the nation.

Where
does love fit in when you’re trying to start a
revolution?

“Dystopian
YA literature needs more writers like Tracy Lawson! Lawson’s lean
writing style and idea-driven dialogue reminded me of the novels of
Ayn Rand, particularly Anthem, but Resist is much faster paced and
holds your attention from the beginning.

“Resist
picks up right where the first book, Counteract, leaves off, and
readers are thrown immediately into the action. I also loved the way
Lawson doesn’t give her characters the easy way out–they are forced
to make decisions and suffer the consequences. These are real people
that anchor the story, even if the setting is not.” –SR Staley,
author of St. Nic, Inc. and the Tortuga Bay series

Ignite
Resistance
Series Book 3

The
Greatest Risk Is To Take No Risk At All.

Nationwide
food shortages have sparked civil unrest, and the Office of Civilian
Safety and Defense’s hold on the people is slipping. The
Resistance’s efforts to hasten the OCSD’s demise have resulted in
disaster, with Tommy Bailey and Careen Catecher taking the blame for
the ill-fated mission in OP-439.

Both
teens struggle to survive the circumstances that force them into the
national spotlight—and this time, they’re on opposite sides. On
the run and exiled from the Resistance members in BG-098, Tommy makes
his way to a Resistance safe house in the capital.

The
OCSD is preparing to monitor all under-eighteens with the Cerberean
Link, a device that protects them against hunger and sickness and can
even locate them if they’re lost. Tommy’s now living in close
quarters with Atari, an operative who has been assigned to sabotage
the Link. But does Atari plan to use it for his own
purposes?

Through
it all, Tommy refuses to believe Careen’s loyalties have shifted
away from the Resistance, and he’s willing to assume any risk to
reconnect with her. Will they be able to trust each other when it
matters most?

Revolt
Resistance
Series Book 4

The
Explosive Conclusion to the Award-Winning Resistance Series

To
Deny Freedom is to Deny the Human Spirit.

Fugitive
Resistance fighter Tommy Bailey has come out of hiding to help rescue
Careen Catecher from the clutches of the Office of Civilian Safety
and Defense, where she’s been held and interrogated for information
about the rebel group. The OCSD is poised to launch the Cerberean
Link, a security device that will put all minors under constant
surveillance under the guise of protecting them.

Fearful
that OCSD director Madalyn Davies’s bid for control won’t stop
there, the Resistance puts its own plan in motion to sabotage the
Link and oust Madalyn from the directorship. Just when everything
seems leveraged in the Resistance’s favor, treachery, lies, and
long-held secrets threaten to derail it all.

Will
even a life together on the run be impossible for Tommy and Careen?
Or will the Resistance’s efforts convince the public to put their
fears aside and demand freedom?

Spark
Careen’s
Prequel to the Resistance Series

“What
was our heroine Careen Catecher like BEFORE she became a firebrand
for the Resistance? Well, she was just a normal teenage girl trying
to survive college in the totalitarian state of Tracy Lawson’s
creation.” –review by Patrick Hodges

“Careen
is a believable, strong female protagonist who, having survived a
harrowing terrorist attack, is now trying to survive [college] in a
new ‘Quadrant’ where she can’t seem to fit in.” –review by
Candace Williams

A
strong heroine is made, not born.

Though
Careen Catecher survived a terrorist attack when she was nine, her
childhood ended on that awful day. Now, nine years later, she’s
ready for her life to truly begin.

A
full scholarship to a prestigious university far from her beleaguered
home quadrant seems like a dream come true, but when she arrives on
campus, she’s perceived as a charity case, despite grades and test
scores that prove she’s the academic equal of the best students
there.

Careen
knows she’s tough enough to survive just about anything, but
fitting in with her acquisitive peers—at least on the surface—is
necessary if she’s going to leave the past behind and claim the
stable future she craves.

But
her past won’t stay buried. She’s only been at school for a few
weeks when a cryptic message from an unlikely friend raises questions
that may put her in danger all over again.

Tracy
Lawson knew she wanted to be a writer from the time she could read.
In the first grade, she authored sixty-seven contact-paper bound
books through her school’s Young Authors program. Though that pace
proved impossible to maintain, she always intended to be a real
author one day.

While
working toward her Bachelor’s degree in Communication at Ohio
University, she studied creative writing with the late Daniel Keyes,
author of Flowers for Algernon. After short stints as a media buyer
and an investigative analyst, she settled into a 20-year career in
the performing arts, teaching tap dancing in Columbus, Ohio, and
choreographing musicals. Though her creative energies were focused on
dance, she never lost her desire to write, and has a non-fiction book
to her credit: Fips, Bots, Doggeries, and More, (McDonald &

Tracy’s
love for writing Young Adult fiction is sparked by all the wonderful
teens in her life, including her daughter Keri, a college student.

When death washes ashore on reality TV, who’s to blame? And what’s real?

Tuesday, May 14th, 2019

“Intelligently conceived and well-executed…A mystery that thoughtfully reflects on the hazy line between suspicion and reckless mania.” – Kirkus Reviews

Zack Hacker the author of Cut Reality a murder mystery

Join Jason Debord as he seeks clarity following the death of a reality TV co-star and ends up uncovering criminal conspiracy.

When Jason returned home from competing on Beached he’d lost weight, couldn’t sleep, and felt more alone than ever. But, he expected those changes. Jason had no way to predict that one of his fellow competitors would fling himself from a cliff. Unless he didn’t.

Jason can’t believe it, but the network broadcasts the alleged suicide to the world, so he pushes forward in his own amateur investigation. Met with resistance from the cast and crew, he persists only through the support of his developing romance with Blake, a psychologist who observes alarming similarities between her patient and her partner.

Events in Cut Reality have a variety of interpretations. While under the watchful eye of the public, Jason has to decide: is what he uncovers too coincidental to be true, or so hard to accept because it’s his new reality.

Buy Zack Hacker’s anticipated debut novel to find out what Jason discovers…

What critics are saying:

“On the surface, Cut Reality is a murder mystery; but actually it is much more…Highly recommended for those who like their intrigue steeped in philosophical insights and dilemmas.” – Midwest Book Review

“When I heard the premise of Cut Reality, I almost died…and I wouldn’t lie about that.” – Jonny Fairplay, Survivor NSFW

“[Zack Hacker] makes poignant critiques though subtle plot developments, holding back from judging society at large, but willing to poke holes in some of our accepted values…From the first tension-filled scene…Cut Reality will keep readers guessing, but also leave them with plenty to think about.” – SPR

“The perfect genre book at the perfect time.” – San Francisco Book Review

“Cut Reality is the type of thoughtful, provocative work that you don’t see much of in the reality TV fanbase anymore. I had a lot of fun reading it.” – Mario Lanza, author of When It Was Worth Playing For, The Funny 115, and host of Survivor Historians

“★★★★★ I have always loved books that can surprise me – this book did that and more.” – Readers’ Favorite Reviews
