Interview of C.Michelle Jefferies author of EMERGENCE

Micheele, what makes you passionate about writing?

I love the way words sound when strung together to make a story. I love free form poetry, how a story is told with a certain cadence.
Do you have a writing routine?
I have a three year old who is really busy. I only get guaranteed writing time when he is at school twice a week for three hours each time. So i have six hours a week to write. Other than that there’s no guarantee I’ll get anything done. I used to have a few hours a day to write before the youngest was born. Now I spend very little time writing or doing anything writing related.
Many will relate to that. What is the title of your book?
Great cover. What genre does your book fall under?
Emergence is a futuristic suspense. But its also set in the future so it could be classified as technical suspense.
Cool. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
I’d choose Jason Momoa as Antony. A blonde Scarlet Johansson as Elite, Paul Bettany as Gage Eliason, Kate Beckansale as Catelyn Hurst.
Nice list. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
He was the corporation’s prized hit man–until he refused an assignment. Now hes going to fins it’s a lot easier to kill a man than to keep him alive.
Suspenseful. Is your book self-published or represented by an agency?
Emergence is published by Walnut Springs Press. A small regional publisher in Salt Lake.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Emergence took me about four months to write and about six months to revise and edit.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Ive been told I write like Robert Ludlum’s Bourne series or a futuristic James Bond.
James Bond, really? Who or What inspired you to write this book?
I wanted to explore what it would take to deconstruct a man from a bad boy to a good guy. What would the character have to experience and witness to change him 180 degrees.
Interesting…What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
I am a red belt in Tang Soo Do a Korean Martial Arts form. There’s a lot of martial arts in the book and it’s as authentic as I could get it by stepping it out as i wrote it.
Awesome. Where can we find your book?
Thanks C. Michelle. 🙂
