Author Tammie Clarke Gibbs is visiting today
Thank you so much for interviewing me, Anna.Â
Tammie, tell us what is your typical day like?
I’m pretty busy so my typical day could be most anything. I am a Real Estate Broker in Georgia so I often show property and I’m busy with the day-to-day tasks of the Real Estate Office which is a blend of marketing and management responsibilities. Because of the diversity of my jobs, I have to be pretty flexible when it comes to my writing time and online promotional obligations. I usually start the day off with paperwork and try to set weekly goals to help keep myself on track and organized.
• You are busy… Do you write with music or not?
Yes. I tend to listen to Celtic Instrumentals.
• Nice choice. Do you outline your manuscript first?
Not really. Well, if I do it’s in my brain. I tend to “ponder” my ideas a lot because I’m often driving from property to property and have down time while I’m waiting on buyers to arrive at a property to look. I don’t usually do a pen/paper outline. If I do it’s a very rough one.
• Me neither. What is the most difficult thing about being an author?
Learning that everything is subjective and that no author writes to the entire world. Instead, they write to a particular audience and then must find that audience and let them know about their book.
• How do you know the idea is good enough to write a book about it?
If it’s a non-fiction you can do research to see how a subject is selling. For fiction, I think you just have to try to make your ideas marketable. There really isn’t a set way of to know if a story will sell or not.
• You are so right… What is the title of your book?
Sworn To Secrecy
• How interesting. What inspired you to write this book?
This is book two in a series. The cool thing is that you don’t have to read the first two books in order. This book has some of the characters from Book One, but this one is a time travel, which I love to read. Much of the situation was inspired by a local legend about a mysterious cave in our area. I get lots of ideas from local folklore.
• Awesome. How do you come up with your character’s names?
I don’t’ know that I have a set way to come up with character names I just sort of play with names until one says “yeah, that’s me”. Then they sort of take over anyhow.
• What a great idea… Tell us what is your book about?
Sworn to Secrecy is about two strangers that meet while they are locked up in dark room against their will. The two escape and stumble upon a cave in the woods. They take refuge from their pursuers only to find that while inside the cave they’ve been transported to the future and meet a woman that claims she’s been waiting for them for five years. It’s full of suspense and action/adventure. You’ll want to know if they will be able to save the future or if they’ve already changed it.
• So cool… What genre does your book fall under?
I consider it Time Travel Romantic Suspense.
• Very nice, What will be your next project?
I’m working on several at the moment, a couple of mysteries, a thriller and the third book in the Undercover Heroes Series.
• Where can we buy a copy of your book?
My books are available at Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com
