Leslee, how long have you been writing?
I wrote and produced school productions in grade school and was always taking some kind of writing courses. I worked in the movie industry and then started my own production company. I wrote, produced and directed shorts and docs.
I decided that I was going to start writing non-fiction kindle books and my 1st book that I published this month became a #1 best seller.
Tell us where you were born and where do you live now.
I am a native Calgarian.
How do you know the idea is good enough to write a book about it?
You can do a lot of research for non-fiction and see what people are buying. Of course Romance always sells. I do my research and hope for the best.
This book was written because I had a business “Women Inspiring Women†and I wanted to publish a book to give me credibility. I gave up on that business and decided to become a non-fiction writer and book coach.
It just became a #1 best seller on Amazon a couple of weeks ago. I didn’t think it would do anything, in fact I just wanted to get it up and out of the way so I could get on to my other books.
Who has made the greatest difference for you as a writer?
I really don’t know. It has been a very solitary journey for me.  I can’t pinpoint anyone that has made a difference.
What is the name of your book?
Women Inspiring Women: Daily Quotes and Questions for Women Entrepreneurs.
Tell us more about it.
It is a daily quote book that starts with Eve and winds its way through the centuries to present day. It is a historical timeline.
But what I did differently is I wrote three questions pertaining to each quote. I don’t know of any other books that have done this.
I am a serial entrepreneur so I know what women go through when they start their own businesses.
The reviews were more than I ever expected. They love the quotes and timeline but are very interested in the questions. One person said the book was a masterpiece, I certainly never expected that!
It also has a free download in it, which is a book in itself title “Women Doing Business†It has some interesting facts that your readers may enjoy.
What kind of impact do you expect your works to have in the reader’s lives?
I want to be there for them daily so they know there is someone who understands what they are going through.
Even though the book has questions pertaining to business a lot of them are about health, family, spirituality and questioning themselves.
So it is not just for entrepreneurs. I want them to question where they are on their path and if they don’t like my questions make up their own.
Do you have any advice for authors trying to break into the industry?
That is a hard question because it depends on what they are writing, why they are writing it and are they self-publishing or trying to get a publisher. This is why it is good to have a book coach at least in the beginning so you can get clear on what you are trying to accomplish and why.
What are your goals?
My goals right now are to write a book a week. It is hard though because I am spending so much time promoting. I am achieving the goals I have set out for April.
I just published my meditation book, which is getting great reviews and became a best seller on Amazon and I haven’t even started the promotion yet!
I just published two Paleo cookbooks in the last two days that have my 20x10x10 method.
My Baby-Led Weaning should be up on Amazon next week.
I have another meditation book that will have an app. I have to record it next week. This will be available in the app. store and also in my new meditation book.
And I have another Paleo book that is almost done. WHEW!
