Serena, what gave you the nerve to attempt your first novel?
I have loved writing for as long as I can remember. I have always had a desire to publish a book, but never thought it was a real possibility. After my mom, Linda Weaver Clarke, became a published author, she inspired me to get my book published.
That is so good. Please describe your writing process.
My process is not very organized! I usually sketch up an outline, but I don’t always know where my story will lead me until I get there. I usually begin with a single idea or a scene and then have to decide how I got there and what is going to happen next.
I think most of us do. Where you do your best work?
My favorite place to work is when I am out in nature. Nature is so inspiring. Though I do easily get distracted by the beauty around me!Yes it is so serene. Please give us a brief rundown of the plot of The Secret of Isian, book 3 in The Isian Series.
War has begun and along with it comes a spreading darkness. Prince Ander is determined to do all he can to end the war. The seer, Rimelda joins him on his quest to fulfill a prophecy that will hopefully stop the darkness from consuming the lands. But Ander is not sure he believes in the prophecy and he is also not sure he trusts Rimelda. If he wants to end the war, he needs to figure out what he believes in, who to trust, and whether or not he has enough fortitude to do what needs to be done.Intriguing… What genre is it?
All three books in The Isian Series are Fantasy Romance.
How did you decide whether to self-publish or find a mainstream publisher?
My mom initially got her books published through a traditional publisher. She learned a lot about the process and the pros and cons of self-publishing versus traditional. She taught me a lot about self-publishing and we decided to start our own business, Red Mountain Shadows Publishing, so that we could publish our own books as well as help other first time authors with the whole publishing process. How do you know the idea is good enough to write a book about it?
I like to write books that I would like to read. I have started many stories that I have never finished. I might come up with an idea and then return to it later and realize it is no longer exciting to me. But if I can later return to an idea that I still find exciting, then I think it is good enough for others to read. And hopefully others will enjoy my writing as much as I do! 🙂Where can we find your books?
Here are the links for my first two books.
