Don, what makes you passionate about writing?
I love telling stories. I love taking a”what if” and working it through to its natural conclusion, and then pushing it one step beyond the obvious.
Do you have a writing routine?
Balancing writing with a full-time job has been very hard for me. Maybe that’s why it’s taken me 10 years to write 2 books. LOL. *sob*
I’ve tried all kinds of things – mornings, evenings, weekends – but the routine that works the best for me is to start work early and take a 90-minute lunch for my writing time.
As a bonus, I occasionally travel for work and whenever I’m on an airplane, I write from the moment the tray table comes down until the flight attendants make me put my computer away.
I been there and done that… What is the title of your book?
Into The Wind
What genre does your book fall under?

This book is a romance with a side of family drama.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
I had to do some research on this one, since most of the characters’ physical properties were based on people I knew growing up. Hooray for Google image searches.
- Kehau – This one was way hard. Kehau is expressly Hawaiian, and the list of Hawaiian or even Polynesian actresses is pretty small. But visually she would look somewhat similar to Shannyn Sossamon or Alexandra Shipp
- Jordan – I think for him we’ll give Nial Horan his acting debut
- Vicks – This is the one character I already had an actress selected: Kulraj Randhawa
- Duke – We’ll go back to Britain and choose Reece Douglas
Nice picks. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Shortly after their engagement, Jordan and Kehau must face powerful headwinds that threaten to ground their relationship.
Interesting. Is your book self-published or represented by an agency?
I’m self publishing this book, and thoroughly enjoying the process!
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
The first draft probably took a full year. And then I got very discouraged in my writing career and let so many things distract me that it was another three years before I considered it “finished.”
Don, what other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I think the closest comparison is Sandcastles by LuAnne Rice, although it’s more of a family drama than a romance.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?

My wife had some very difficult health issues while I was writing my first book. In addition, the relationship between Jordan and Kehau felt very tenuous at the end of Bumpy Landings. So when my muse presented me with a story that gave Jordan’s mom significant health challenges that tested Jordan and Kehau’s relationship, I had to go with it.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
It includes dancing, kissing, airplanes, and mud wrestling.
Cool… Where can we find your book?Â
So far it’s Amazon-exclusive. This is the livest link I have – for the ebook. Print book is scheduled to go live on the 10th, so I can send the link then.
