“Yogi Kate must clear her name of murder in this charming yoga mystery
When Kate Davidson gets an offer to teach yoga classes to wedding guests at the Elysian Springs resort, she jumps at the opportunity, even though it means being forced to endure the wedding ceremony of the center’s two caretakers.
Avoiding the M-word turns out to be the least of Kate’s problems when a wedding guest is found floating face-down in the resort’s hot tub, shortly after a loud, public (and somewhat embarrassing) fight with Kate. The police pick Kate as their number-one suspect, so she’s forced to team up with boyfriend Michael, best friend Rene, and German shepherd sidekick Bella to find the real killer. But they’ll have to solve the murder before the police arrest Kate, or her next gig may last a lifetime–behind bars.”
My review of the audio
A Killer Retreat by Tracy Weber is a light mystery with a bit of romance. I reviewed the audiobook. It was offered to me for my honest opinion. The narrator has a pleasant voice. The characters are well done. The story is read by the narrator, not acted out. She doesn’t scream when the character screams she just says “She screamed”. I enjoyed the clean sound of the story.
My review of the book Murder Strikes a Pose ****
A Killer Retreat by Tracy Weber, Book Two in the Downward Dog Mystery Series. I enjoyed this tale, though I didn’t as much as the first one “Murder Strikes A Pose.” The yoga studio owner Kate Davidson, goes to teach yoga to an island were the owners of a resort are getting married. She brings her boyfriend Michael and her special needs dog, Bella. The wedding party is all there and some of the people are plain rude, as is the step mom who gets killed. This shouldn’t result in a problem, but our yoga instructor was seen twice by a bunch of people in heated argument with the woman. All signs point to her and she is in trouble.
This is a nice story line that will entertain you and give you a few laughs. A Killer Retreat however has more about the yoga instructor’s personality and I didn’t like her. She whines way to much about everything, and it got tiresome after the first few chapters…In my opinion. The other thing I noticed was that the murder didn’t happen soon enough to keep my attention. The whines got to me first. A bit slow on the start, it led to a bit of disappointment in the book, though it is a good book. A Killer Retreat by Tracy Weber will be enjoyed by many murder mystery fans.
