The Alliance of Isian by Serena Clark book 2 ***** stars

I was asked to do a review for The Alliance of Isian and I wondered if I would like it. I was hooked from the first chapter and love it. I enjoyed the plot, the characters and the romance. It has so many good things going that I went Ahhh when I finished it. I enjoyed it better than the first book in the series, which is good. You will find secrets, magic, love, courage, betrayals and death in this volume. All are orchestrated to give you a well-balanced story with great components.

Alec and Gabrielle marry to give their kingdoms the power they need against a ruthless enemy that will stop at nothing to take away the throne from his brother. Alec’s kingdom is quite different from Gabrielle’s land, so they have to put their differences aside to be an example to each other’s realm. They have to work together or all will be lost in the eminent war at their doorstep.

Sometimes their differences form an abysm between them and between their troops. Alec doesn’t understand magic and prohibits Gabrielle from using it. She feels that instead of learning from each other, her culture is being lost under his culture. Will she ever be able to trust the man who sleeps with her, and that once was her enemy, and that now wants her to take her new kingdom’s culture and forget her own?

This is a great book and a great story.
