Kristin J. Dawson is a non-recovering chocolate and romantic English movie addict who loves to read science fiction and fantasy. You can find her most often indulging her favorite things at 2 am — night owls unite!
Kristin writes high fantasy with political intrigue, a bit of romance, and of course, magic. When she’s not writing, toting her kids around to sports practices, or cleaning out the chicken coop, she’s probably trying to talk her friends into more shenanigans.
In a world of magic, Nicoleta is unremarkable, except for her cursed, stuttering tongue. No special powers, no renowned apprenticeship, just the terrible, stammering aftereffects of the Lilac Plague.
Until she opens the ghostly blue vision from her mother.
Instead of words of endearment, the vision reveals that Nicoleta’s mother was a Guardian entrusted with a magical key — a key so powerful that those who rule will do anything to find it.
The burden of protecting the key now falls to Nicoleta. In a race against the crown, she must find the treasure and the true heir, the only one who can stop the curse from being fulfilled. Impossible? Almost certainly. One false step spells disaster. But Nicoleta is no fool. Where those before her died trying, Nicoleta forges a new path, relying on her wits and some unlikely allies.
Do you dare face the Lilac Plague? This coming of age, young adult fantasy adventure with mysterious magic, evil emperors, and a thread of romance will leave you amazed and clamoring for the next book.”

For more than a half-century, a group of Dallas friends assembled to play touch football each Thanksgiving Day morning on the front lawn of their old elementary school in White Rock. As the men aged, their determination and love of the game stayed strong. After the final game in 2009, Dallas reporter John Anders noted:
“They arrived on walkers and in iron lungs…Grandchildren would drop them off andperhaps stay behind to serve as stretcher-bearers following the conflict.”
Now, six decades later, team captains Brent Parrott and Bryan Renfro are sharing this beautiful story of friendship and Texas football in the new book,The Reilly Thanksgiving Invitational Story, which releases this month.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
In 1960, on the front lawn of Martha Turner Reilly Elementary, a tradition was born. A group of seventh-grade boys captured the free time before Thanksgiving dinner to engage in a game of touch football. It was a good day to play. So good, in fact, that the game would resume each year at the same time in the same place. Through the ebb and flow of lives, loves, and responsibilities, the Reilly Thanksgiving Invitational continued for five decades. The Reilly Thanksgiving Invitational Story offers a first-hand glimpse into an era long past and captures the essence of tradition, friendship, life lessons, history, culture, the ups and downs, happiness, and sadness for those lost, over decades.
Today, Alzheimer’s has touched most of the 22 members and a portion of the book proceeds will be donated to Alzheimer’s research. The book releases November 2019
This coming-of-age book is a must-read for anyone with nostalgic heartstrings. One of the most beautiful things about this book is that it is interactive. Though it is available in hard copy, the book is best consumed digitally because the story is supplemented with artifacts and details (videos, links, newspaper clippings, and photos) that preserve an era in American history long past. The Reilly Thanksgiving Invitational Story is a readable account of the personal and cultural experiences of a group of friends that tells a story about all of us.
“(This Book) captures the era of growing up in the 50s and 60s with sensitivity and
humor.”- Neilia West (Reviewer)
ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Dallas natives, Brent Parrott and Bryan Renfro are life-long friends and the co-authors of The Reilly Thanksgiving Invitational Story. - Adrienne, if you had 3 wishes, what would they be?
I’d wish that chocolate gave you abs, clothes folded themselves, and that people had furry ears and tails so you could read their emotions.
- Given unlimited resources, what would be your ideal writing environment?
A terrace on the Amalfi Coast with a hot Italian guy fanning me and feeding me grapes.
- Where do you actually write?
Usually the kitchen. Often in yoga pants. Always with a dog on my lap.
- How long does it normally take you to write a novel?
It’s getting progressively longer. I wrote my first novel in two months, my second in about a year, and this one has been three years in the making. With my family and other exciting publishing projects, I have limited time. But writing is a passion, and I do it whenever I have a spare second.
- What are your inspirations?
Easy. My family always lifts and inspires me.
- How did you come to write this particular book or series?
The idea for this book has been in the back of my mind for years. I actually tried to convince my sister to write it. She worked for Anasazi, a wilderness therapy program in Arizona, as a young adult and had some incredible experiences there. Yvette has six children and is getting ready to publish her third children’s picture book. I think it was the fourth time I mentioned that she should write this book when she told me I should write it myself. That was all the permission I needed.
High Sierra is a fictional wilderness therapy program loosely based on the Anasazi program, but the hiking takes place in Yosemite. The characters hike the exact trails that my family traveled on our adventure in 2015 when my husband tore two tendons in his ankle and then insisted on hiking another 20 miles. I’ve poured a lot of myself and my personal struggles and experiences into this book.
- What was the hardest part of writing your book, and how did you overcome it?
Finding time is a huge obstacle for me to overcome as a writer. Writing a novel over a long period of time presents challenges. When you write every day, it’s easy to pick up where you left off. When you’re working on a project for months and years, it’s easy to forget details. I had to do a lot of re-reading to refresh my memory before moving forward.

Brandeis has it all: a famous reporter at the age of twenty-four,
she’s the face of the Republic of the Americas. She has a loving

Please tell us your name?
My name is Kelvyn Fernandes, author of The Many Adventures of Peter and Fi
Kelvyn, where were you born?
I was born in Toronto, Ontario, but my parents immigrated to Canada from Mombasa, Kenya.
Cool…how long have you been writing?
Ever since I was a child, I’ve been passionate about writing. I’ve always had running storylines and new ideas constantly popping into my head. I’ve written a few short stories, but this is my first full-length novel and I’m excited to share it with the world.
Interesting, Who are your favorite authors?
My favourite authors are George R. R. Martin, Brandon Sanderson, and Haruki Murakami. Growing up, I enjoyed reading the works of JK Rowling, Emily Rodda, Kathryn Lasky, and Christopher Paolini.
Loved the Aragon Series too. Tell us why you wrote your new book?
I’ve always had ideas for fantastical tales and far-off adventures running through my mind. They would blast their way into my imagination, linger awhile, and then move on so the next idea could take its place. The Many Adventures of Peter and Fi is the first story that I will never forget. It’s the story that popped into my mind and refused to leave. The characters took hold and dragged me through a tale of incredible monsters, interesting characters, and jaw-dropping settings I had buried away in my imagination. It got to the point where the adventures started writing themselves. I had formed these characters so clearly in my mind that I no longer had to think about what they’d say or how they’d react. It was like watching a movie; I was just bearing witness to what they would do next.
I love it when characters do that. The Many Adventures of Peter and Fi, what is it about?
The Many Adventures of Peter and Fi follows the titular characters as they work together, each searching for something uniquely special to them through the four kingdoms of their known world. It’s a tale of fantastical beasts, peculiar characters, remarkable settings, and a unique brand of biochemistry-based magic. A story that focuses on meaningful character interaction, delicate world building, and intense action battles.
What age is The many adventure of Peter and Fi intended for?
I’d say the main demographic is 13-25, but the story is meant for anyone who enjoys getting lost in a fantasy world.
Sounds interesting. Is there a book trailer for your book?
You can find out more about the first volume and the plans for the Peter and Fi series as a whole here: https://youtu.be/SjR8NQWJoP0
