Will Kathryn’s warmth and beauty melt George’s cold heart?

Monday, December 3rd, 2018

Lauraine Henderson lives with her husband, dog and cat on 68 acres of woodland 40 miles north of Portland, Oregon. After growing up in Oregon, they moved their family of three children to Utah. From there they moved to Hawaii and Arizona, finally coming back to Oregon in 2015. Their three children, two girls and a boy are all grown and live across the United States.

After being a professional bookkeeper for over twenty years, she turned her hobby of writing into her first published novel in 2016. She loves to write inspirational romance and romantic comedy and hopes her readers will be both entertained and uplifted by her stories. When she’s not writing, she’s working her way through online university, loves to paint (watercolors, oils, and acrylics), sew, knit, crochet, make beaded jewelry, and read (of course!).
George Stone can’t wait for the Christmas season to be over and his employees, especially his executive assistant, Kathryn Gleason, focused once again on their work. When a missing report requires George to stop in at Kathryn’s parents’ home the day before Christmas Eve, he ends up as an unexpected guest. Between the haunting journals of his late grandfather and the unsettling dream of an unhappy future, George is swept away by the magic of Kathryn’s charm and her family’s love.

Will the Spirit of Christmas show George the happiness he’s missing and will Kathryn’s warmth and beauty melt his cold heart?

Snippet:
Had she ever seen George’s eyes sparkle like that? Maybe when he’d been
angry. But he wasn’t angry now and Kathryn pulled in a deep breath as she found
herself drawn into George’s deep brown eyes and matched their intensity.
Time slowed. “Oh!” Kathryn’s foot slipped and she fell back, landing
softly in the cold blanket of white. George relinquished his snowball, followed
her into the snow, and held himself above her while he shook cold, white
crystals from his knit hat over her face.
“Stop! Please. You win.” Kathryn laughed. “I give!”
“What do you give, Kathryn? What do I win?”
George asked so seriously, Kathryn had to look carefully to make sure
he was still teasing.
“What do you want, George?” Flirting wasn’t really her style, but he
brought out the tease in her.
George’s eyes flitted over her face, stopping at her eyes and then
moving on to her mouth. Her lips parted of their own accord and George leaned
in.
“Oomph!” George grunted when three little bodies all jumped on him and
pushed him against Kathryn. “I’m sorry. Are you hurt?” he asked in her ear,
barely above a whisper.
“I’m great,” she answered, the eyes glimmering back at him with
unfulfilled promises.
George licked his lips and pushed the kids off his back. Kathryn was
fairly certain she heard him say, “Later,” before he turned and pretended to
attack his assailants.

Conall has undeniably handsome features, but, he is missing something of vital importance… His body

Friday, October 26th, 2018

I’m a mom who writes books in her spare time: translation–I hide in the bathroom with my laptop and lock the door while the kids destroy the house and smear peanut butter on the walls. I was born in Utah but lived in Kansas until I was 13, in Texas until I was 18, and attended college in Hawaii—studying marine biology. I’m now back in Utah–“happy valley”. I’m married to a wonderful husband, James, and we are currently raising 6 rambunctious children. My interests are reading, writing (of course), martial arts, visual arts, creating Halloween props, and spending time with family.
I signed with Clean Teen Publishing in 2013. My first published book Rising, quickly hit the best-seller lists and has maintained its status on those lists since it’s release in September 2013. The sequel in The Rising Series titled, Descending, was released in late March 2014. It also hit best-seller status–reaching all the way to #1 in Mythology on Amazon.

It’s 1792 and Hope is on the run. She finds shelter in a glen called Sleepy Hollow. Luck is with her as the town is unexpectedly looking for a new teacher and Hope is hired for the job.

Unfortunately, not everything is looking up for her. Not only is the mayor out to get her fired and the local witch determined to slice her up and brew her organs into potions, but hidden under the floorboards of her quaint little cabin, she finds a man. His name is Conall.

Conall is demanding, he’s ornery, and though he has undeniably handsome features, he is missing something of vital importance…
His body.

Snippet:
Hope
cried out as her fingers swiped at Conall’s head. The surface of the water flew
toward him. He barely had time to take a big breath when he tumbled into the
river. He could hear her muted scream as he rolled and bobbed away with the
current.
She’d dropped him!

Why was he not surprised? He would have been better off left under the floorboards.

Cruise Tips From The Cruise Addict’s Wife

Tuesday, January 12th, 2016

Deb Graham was born in  New York state, and have resided in Georgia, Illinois, New Mexico, Hawaii, Idaho, Utah, and  lived north of Seattle for 27 years. She have visited 26 countries, and all fifty US states.

I have written my entire life, as far back as I can recall, including a 3 act play in second grade that the class performed. I write copious letters, and I ‘collect’ neglected missionaries, having written consistently to over 130 of them. I’ve kept a daily journal for four decades. I write! My husband began publishing several years ago, and encouraged me to write a book.

Having never written a book, it seemed apparent I’d better choose a topic about which I know something. We enjoy traveling; Husband accuses the women in the family of having a Gypsy Gene; if there’s a place to go that involves a suitcase, or better yet, a passport, count us in! I’ve been on dozens of cruise vacations.

As we enjoyed multiple cruises, I realized I just plain know more than most of our fellow passengers we spoke to; likely a factor of my being a compulsive reader, as well as a writer. I have a fear of missing Something Wonderful when I travel, so I go well-prepared. As I interacted with travelers, amazed at how few know routine things (such as how to order meals on a ship, what to do in port, how to book the best cabin for their needs), I found myself thinking “why don’t they know this stuff?” I realized there was no one place to go to learn the things I know.

So I wrote Cruise Tips From The Cruise Addict’s Wife. It’s a travel book with a twist, loaded with tips and tricks on how to save money, while seeing more and doing more and knowing more than any other passenger onboard, laced with humorous stories gleaned from my travels. Currently, it has 215 reviews on Amazon, including profuse thanks from people who insist I changed their lives by writing this book. Not bad, for a first –time author!

Mediterranean Cruise With The Cruise Addicts’ Wife is my newest book. We planned our first-ever trip to Europe with friends; a cruise, with private tours in all ten ports, plus stays in Stockholm, Venice,  and Barcelona. I take pride in being frugal —some say ‘cheap—and as usual, I wanted to see and do as much as possible, while saving money. As I prepared, I realized all my research was too good to waste!

MedBookCover

It’s in three parts. The book’s first section is the before-the-cruise planning and comparing, the middle was written day to day during the journey, insights, impressions, and  the people we came to know. Part three is afterwards, including what I did best, what I would change, and the dry details and comparisons on tours, so a person planning a similar trip could skip all that effort. Again, it’s laden with humor, stories, first impressions, and how anyone can save time, energy, and 45%-65% while having a better experience than most fellow passengers.

As an author, I think part of my role is to improve a reader’s life in some way. Often, a cruise is a once-in-a-lifetime trip, long anticipated, and I want travelers to make the most of their precious time. Both of these book accomplish that in style. I also think there are enough dry, yawn-worthy travel books out there. With my background in stand-up comedy, these books are different.

I’m currently working on my first novel, a cozy mystery set on –where else?—a cruise ship. Having never written a novel, my first step was researching How To Write A Novel, literally typed into Google. If I can do it, what’s stopping others? I’m aiming for a February 2016 release.

I chose to self-publish, after hearing the experiences of others with traditional publishing routes. Titles, characters, covers, even genres changed, and being under contract, they’re stuck. And for their trouble, their royalties are pennies.

We live in a time where self-publishing options abound, and it’s surprisingly easy. I wouldn’t do it any other way. For me, it’s been rather lucrative; we’re not wealthy, but that Mediterranean cruise was paid for, private tours, airfare, 5-star hotels and all, with my book royalties. I’ve also used book money to pay for two week-long cruises, along with new carpet and a remodeled bathroom in the house.

My advice for new authors would be to write. If you can string together a sentence, you can write, and there are so many helps out there! I’ve given seminars on self-publishing, and I try to be encouraging, because so many in the industry are not.  Due directly to my talks, I know of at least eight books that have been published, after languishing in a desk drawer for years, as their authors hesitated.

Please contact me at hideb@frontier.com if I can answer any more questions, and thanks for this opportunity!
