Daughter of Rage and Beauty
Berserker Academy Book 1
by Amy Pennza
Genre: Urban Fantasy Romance
Publisher: Scribble Pretty Books
Publication Date: November 4, 2019
The sagas claim you can’t fight fate. I’m determined to prove them wrong.
They say your twenties are supposed to be the best years of your life.
Clearly, they don’t know what they’re talking about.
Because right now, my life is in shambles. As the daughter of one of the most powerful berserkers in the world, I should be taking my place among the noble guild of berserker assassins. By now, I should have mastered my emotions and conquered my rage—all the better to use it as a weapon when called upon to kill.
But I’m not just Harald Berregaard’s daughter. My mother was a nymph, which makes me a magical mutt. When I was born, my father thought I might possess the best traits from both races.
He was wrong.
Now he’s shipping me off to the Berserker Academy, where the unofficial motto is “graduate or die.”
Nice, huh?
With the stakes this high, I can’t afford to get distracted. Too bad the academy’s headmaster keeps showing up at the most inconvenient moments, reminding me how much I suck at magic. And fighting. And basic conversation.
It doesn’t matter that he does it with a smile. Or that his eyes fire silver when he’s amused . . . or aroused. Hauk Sigridsson has his own problems. He’s not going to be one of mine.
On the other hand, he’s offered me a way to accelerate my studies and make it out of the academy alive. I just have to help him steal a priceless rock and defeat one of the most powerful immortals to have ever lived.
No big deal.
I’m in way over my head, but I’m determined to survive. They say you can’t fight fate. I’m going to show fate exactly what I’m made of.

Working as an informant for the DEA, Victoria Monzelle is used to living on
the edge. But she’s not a big fan of getting kidnapped. And
definitely not by a bunch of bad boy witches with fancy-colored fire
to shoot at people. So when Adam Dunne shows up and claims to be a
witch enforcer, she’s not going to put her life in his hands based
on his word, no matter how smooth and smart and beautifully Irish his
words sound. But on the run from a tribunal of witches, she isn’t
going to make it far . . .
Before she knows it, Adam’s word is all that stands between her and
execution. Sophisticated, just-gotta-ruffle-him Adam has vowed to
make her his one eternal mate, wild and unpredictable as she is—to
save her from a sentence of certain death. But Tori isn’t
interested in being anyone’s pity date. And if they think she’s
unpredictable now, they should see what’s coming next . . .

Tangled Hearts, an LDS Novel by Roseanne Evans Wilkins

What a great read for anyone who enjoys romance with LDS standards! It is clean, refreshing and fun. Roseanne takes the tale of family and enhances it with twists and mysteries. He puts two very different sisters in the same household until the younger one marries and the older one isn’t allowed in the wedding. One day, after years of no seeing her sister, Serra opens the door of (more…)

Steven Mitchell Sack, the Employee’s Lawyer

Since I love fantasy, I thought this book was going to be boring, but I wanted to give it a try anyways. It turns out that I was wrong. I found it down to earth and readable by any person regardless of the education they may have. Many law books are written so only a lawyer can understand the lingo, this book is not like that. It was easy enough that a person with English as a second language (me) could understand it.

Not only do I understand the wording but also its concepts. It clearly defines the legal and illegal questions that an employer might ask in an interview or even when a person is fired unfairly. Furthermore, it gives an example letter to state the (more…)
