Dearest – A Pharaonic Adventure
Misadventures
in Auckland Book 1
by
Barbara Russell
Genre:
Middle Grade Fantasy

During
a school trip to the museum, thirteen-year-old Tess wakes up an
Egyptian mummy.
Cursed

thousand years. Now, he has no intention of going back into his tomb.
He wants a normal life, friends, and fresh food. So, he follows Tess
home, bandages and all.
Ancient
Egyptian mummies bring bad luck. Since Seth’s arrival, a car has
almost run Tess over, and a lamppost nearly squashed
her. With Tess’s soccer team, the Wolverines, qualified for
the New Zealand Junior Soccer Championship, this curse could destroy
its chances of winning. Even worse, evil Egyptian spirits chase her
and Seth to take their souls into the world of the dead.
Unless
they find the two-thousand-year old necromancer, who controls the
spirits and who gained eternal youth by cursing Seth, Tess and Seth
will be doomed forever.

The
Boy Who Killed Santa Claus
Misadventures
in Auckland Book 2

While
other thirteen-year-old kids think about playing and riding their
bikes, Hau has to deal with fairies. He sees them everywhere—small,
green, tiny wings, with pointed ears like Legolas. And they talk to
him as well. In fact, they don’t want to shut up.

No
one believes him, not even his mother or his best friend. Kids at
school call him names, and he’s just as popular as a visit to the
dentist.

On
top of that, he’s the only one who knows the truth about Santa
Claus. Santa isn’t the nice, fatherly elf everyone believes. He’s
a bloodthirsty villain. Yep. Newt witnessed it with his own eyes when
Santa killed his father in cold blood right under the Christmas tree.
But again, no one believes him.

The
Girl with the Dragon-Raccoon
Misadventures
in Auckland Book 4

While
other fifteen-year-old girls dream about having a blood-sucking
boyfriend like in Twilight, Tyro has nightmares about vampires.

She
has her share of vampires, zombies, and werewolves because her mum is
a dentist who attends to these monsters’ teeth.

So,
when her mother and a vampire client disappear from the dental
clinic, leaving only a trail of blood, trashed furniture, and ripped
clothes behind, Tyro suspects one of the monsters kidnapped them or
worse that the vampire attacked her mum.

Either
way, she’s in deep crap.

The
police don’t believe her, and Jack, the vanished vampire’s son,
wants to take Tyro to Underworld City where hags, zombies, and all
kind of were-beings live. He plans to talk with the underworld police
that control supernatural creatures.

That’s
his chance to show her that not every monster is a thug, and perhaps,
she’ll accept his invitation for the Disemboweller Ball. If only he
could keep his true nature secret. No girl would be attracted by a
guy who can turn himself into a half-dragon, half-racoon beast, with
no fire to speak of, no super-strength, and very tiny wings. How lame
is that?

Tyro
would rather go to school wearing only her underwear than be alone
with Jack. What if going to Underworld City is a trap? What if he
wants to eat her?

But
unless she teams up with him, she’ll never know what happened to
her mum. Armed with her courage and a bottle of garlic spray, she
accepts to travel to Underworld City with Jack.

After
a monster killed her dad, her mum is all that is left of her family,
and she won’t leave her in the hands of brain-eating, blood-sucking
creatures.

Somehow he must save the unicorns tribe from an evil sorcerer

Sunday, July 22nd, 2018
The
Blue Unicorn’s Journey to Osm
Black
and White Coloring Book
by
Sybrina Durant
Genre:
Middle Grade Fantasy

The
wood-cut look illustrations in The Blue Unicorn’s Journey To Osm
Black and White Illustrated book are reminiscent of old world
fairytales by authors like Lewis Carroll and The Brother’s Grimm.
It is a story which transcends age and presents valuable life lessons
on overcoming adversity through perseverance and valuing friendship.

Everybody
loves unicorns! OK maybe they don’t but for those who do, they will
love this story about a little unicorn who was born into a tribe of
magical, metal horned unicorns. The little guy has no magic and he
has no metal but somehow he must save the tribe from an evil
sorcerer. Read the book to find out if he can do it.

“The
metal horned unicorns are doomed!” That’s what Lauda Lead Horn
wailed when she first saw the tribe’s new savior. OK, so his horn
was not metal. . .and he did not have a magic power. . .and he was
really a puny little runt. But doomed? Were things really that
bad?

Well,
things were pretty bad in the land of MarBryn. Magh, an evil sorcerer
utilized unicorn horns and hooves to create his magical potions and
spells. Those he used, to increase his power and to conquer everyone
in his path. All of the unicorns from the Tribe of the Metal Horn
were now gone . . . except for twelve survivors.

Before
the blue unicorn was born, Numen told Alumna, the aluminum-horned
oracle, that he had a plan to bring the tribe back home to Unimaise.
His prophecy was, “Only the blue unicorn can join with the
Moon-Star. Until then, no new unicorns will be born.” Blue was the
last unicorn born. Twenty years later, his horn was still covered
with a plain blue colored hide. There was not a glint of metal to be
seen on it or his hooves. And he still didn’t have any magic. But
he was no longer scrawny and he had his wits. Though no one else in
the tribe thought he had a chance, Blue felt ready to make Magh pay
for his evil deeds. And he went off to do it alone. That was Blue’s
first mistake. If the entire tribe was not standing horn-tip to
horn-tip at the proper time and the exact place to help usher the
Moon-Star Spirit into Blue’s horn, he would die. Then, the rest of
the tribe would really be doomed.

Readers
will follow along two journey paths in this book. Blue is joined in
his travels by his mentor Gaiso, the Stag and his friend, Girasol the
Firebird as they try to find their way across a danger-filled MarBryn
to Muzika Woods. The rest of Blue’s tribe is forced to follow
another route due to Nix Nickle Horn’s unfortunate incident with a
Manticore. Nix, the great unicorn defender must safely lead the way
for Ghel, the Golden-Horned unicorn; Silubhra Silver Horn; Cornum the
Brass-Horned unicorn; Steel Horned Style; Cuprum the Copper-Horned
unicorn; Tin-Horned Tinam; Dr. Zinko; Iown the Iron-Horned unicorn
and the others in an action packed adventure to their destination in
Muzika Woods. Both journey paths converge there in the Nebulium
Circle.

This
ebook, for teens and older readers, will introduce you to the Read
and Color black and white version of The Blue Unicorn’s Journey To
Osm Illustrated book. If you love to read and you love to color, this

yourself in this fully-illustrated black and white version of “The

We’re
Grace and Thomas Lockhaven. We pretty much met the same way ALL
writers meet each other, we met at the gym. While other people
discussed their workouts we discussed things like, how to reverse a
“creeping death” spell cast by an evil wizard. We could
have filled a book with pictures of people’s faces that overheard our
conversations. Quest Chasers grew from these conversations and now we
hope to pass on to you the thrilling adventures of Eevie and Tommy as
we bring them to life.

RANDY LINDSAY is a world traveler. Which sounds impressive until you realize the worlds he visits exist only in his mind and on the pages of his novels. He claims to prefer this method of sightseeing because he can stop at any time, go to the kitchen, and indulge his ice cream addiction. When he isn’t busy making things up he likes going to movies with his wife to watch what other people have made up and plays board games with his children who are in the habit of making up the rules as they go along.

Battlementals: Quest for the Harmonicon is Randy’s third published book and the first in a series of stories that take place in the Battlemental universe. He switched to writing full time in 2011 and has had two novels published through Bonneville Books.

His journey as an author has been an exciting one, full of unexpected discoveries. One of those being the decision to focus more of his writing on middle-grade fantasy. The fact that the style feels more natural to Randy might be an indication that he is really just a kid at heart.

The second unexpected discovery was that he enjoyed marketing. Book signings, writing workshops, and podcasts about storytelling all gave him opportunities to discuss what he loves with others who share the same interest. This combined with the decision to write middle-grade stories led to his development of C.A.S.T. (a program intended to show children and teens how to incorporate storytelling into their everyday lives).

Connect with the Author here:

Battlementals: Quest for the Harmonicon by Randy Lindsay is a pre-teen/ middle school tale full of very interesting characters that are not all human. Imagination flows rampant in each chapter of this book. It keeps the level characteristic to children’s speech and behaviors.

When a group of children are approached by an interesting older person, they look at him as just that. However, they don’t expect that this old guy can change their life and the future of the universe in one conversation. Nor do they expect to say yes to his ridiculous idea for them to go on a journey or quest to save the universe. Their first instinct says that the guy is crazy, but soon the champions change their mind when they see a world disappear and they realize that it could have been earth and their families.

Now this group of children has to be brave, united and most of all friends to see the quest to its end.

I enjoy the telling and the characters of Battlementals: Quest for the Harmonicon by Randy Lindsay. It flows smoothly to the last page and each character is developed and grows flawlessly. It will be loved by many pre-teens and even younger kids.

Author Braden Bell an Interview

Saturday, March 15th, 2014

Braden, what is your typical day like?

I wake up at 5:45 so that the kids and I can leave at 6:30 in order to be at school by 7:30. I’m a teacher at a private school, and my children are fortunate to attend–but we live some distance away. After school, I usually have play rehearsals or voice lessons until the evening, so I generally get home around 6:00 or 7:00. Then we have supper, and I write until bedtime. Then I try to always help get the kids to bed, and then write until I go to sleep–which is almost always far too late!

Wow that is a lot. Do you write with music or not? (more…)
