Boyfriend
by
Molly Zenk
Genre:
Contemporary Romance

It’s
safe to say my love life stinks. As if getting dumped for another guy
by my long-term boyfriend isn’t enough, my hopes at finding a
boyfriend get crushed with a string of disastrous dates.

But
then I meet the strange bus boy who has been staring at me for the
last three months. He’s awkward, goofy, and has no fashion sense.
Corin is the exact opposite of what I should want in a boyfriend, but
I feel drawn to him in a way I can’t explain.
There’s also
Daniel. Smart, charming, successful, and well-dressed. He’s the
perfect man, the kind of guy I should want. Even my family is
convinced we’re meant to be together.
Somehow, I went from
the girl with a catastrophic love life to a woman with one too many
options.
Now I need to decide whether to follow my
head…or my heart.

to let Xander use Phoenix Tears to keep the Burning at bay. A

The hybrid baby growing double time

“One More Minute” is in the Tick Tock: A Stitch in Crime anthology

Saturday, May 5th, 2018

Mary Aalgaard, nice to have you today.

Tell us where you were born and where do you live now.

I was born in Ada, Minnesota, and now live in central Minnesota in the Brainerd lakes area.

Really…nice. Who is your favorite fictional character and why?

Miss Havisham from Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations.” Once jilted, twice shy. She was left at the alter, literally, and is still wearing her wedding dress. The wedding feast, including the rock hard wedding cake and decaying food, remain on the table where they were set. She refuses to let anyone make any changes in her life. She has full control over her home, her body, and her finances. She’s powerful and resourceful, and yet has a charitable soul and a soft spot for Pip. I would like to have tea with her.

She sounds awesome. What one person from history would you like to meet and why?

Harriet Beecher Stowe. She wrote a powerful story that changed people’s views and called them to action. She was a mother, a writer, and an activist. I’d also like to have tea with her.

Wow, very nice. If there was one thing you could do to change the world, what would it be?

I would like to see less money spent in military and weapons and more put towards world hunger and taking care of each other. I know it’s naive to write, but I would eliminate borders.

How interesting…I like it. Who inspires your writing?

I have been inspired by many great writers, artists and musicians. Louisa May Alcott, Maya Angelou, Lorna Landvik, Lisa Genova, and J.H. Moncrieff to name a few.

Those are great people to count at your side. What is the name of your book?

My short story “One More Minute” is in the Tick Tock: A Stitch in Crime anthology.

How wonderful. What genre is it?

mystery/crime/thriller

Do you or have you sat down and read your book fresh off the presses as if it wasn’t yours? And if you did, what was it like?

Yes, but not so much “as if it wasn’t yours.” It was a thrill to see it in print alongside all the other great stories in this anthology!

Where can we find your book?

After
the loss of her brother, actress Harmony Jones struggles with daily
life. Landing the lead role on the hit faith based living history
show, 1700s Life, might be the perfect way to reconnect with her
faith and be her big acting break.

Tired
of hiding his strong faith and convictions to get secular roles,
David Hawkins jumps at the chance to play the curate on 1700s Life.
It’s the perfect vehicle to spread God’s word.

Elliot
Banes’ career needs an image makeover, so he accepts the naval hero
role on 1700s Life. Getting away from his overbearing mother is an
added bonus. His true hope is to learn to speak his mind instead of
always fading into the background.

When
a scripted love triangle between Harmony, David, and Elliot becomes a
real life love triangle, Harmony must make a difficult decision. .
She hoped to find her wavering faith, she didn’t count on finding
love as well. If that was her only obstacle, the role would be a
breeze. Unfortunately, there’s an on-set spy intent on causing
drama. Can Harmony see through all the lies and secrets to the truth
in her heart, or will she end up falling for the wrong man?

Crazy, is what I say. Pretty sure he’s out of his mind

The
Divinity of Anila
The
Musings Book 1
by
Cloud S. Riser
Genre:
YA Paranormal

–My
name is Anila. Up until a few days ago, I thought I was just like
every other teenage girl. Seriously, life was awesome. I was popular,
had great grades, and was on my way to getting a scholarship to one
of the top universities in the state. Then my boyfriend decided to go
crazy on me, and I end up in a car with some other guy who claims
magic is real. Crazy, is what I say. Pretty sure he’s out of his
mind. I–

–Hold
on a minute, Nila is not giving me a fair chance. The name is Bailey,
and I’m not crazy. I’m a Muse. And so is she. That’s why her
boyfriend got uber possessive on her. Muses inspire the best in
others, and without control over their magic, a Muse can be pretty
addictive to hang around.

Which
is why I’m here, to teach Nila how to control that magic so she
doesn’t cause any more problems with the every day humans. See–

–I
hate how he says every day humans like I’m not one of them. Oh, and
get this, I apparently can’t touch him, even just a tiny bit, because
we might create magical sparks…or something?–

–Look
at all the things she doesn’t know about being a Muse. The sparks
help us find our soul mate. Do I need to explain why I don’t need her
touching me right now? We just met. Besides, it’s common courtesy.
Keep your hands to yourself.

or…. Something

For
the most part of his life, Jack Anderson has been plagued by a
mysterious disease that makes him a weakling and unable to live the
normal life of a teenager. Over the summer, he is shipped off by his
parents to a special hospital located in a remote desert-like area
where he is to undergo a groundbreaking treatment. After enduring
months of questionable medical experiments performed by a group of
doctors who are supposed to help him get better but in reality are
keeping him sick on purpose all in the name of medical research, Jack
escapes from the clandestine medical facility and heads for

Don’t Fall by Rachel Schieffelbein

Book Description:

In this modern day retelling of Rapunzel, Anya has her books, her photography, and her daydreams. She doesn’t think she needs anything else.
She lives in a house on the edge of town with her adopted mother, who goes to extreme measures to keep her daughter safe. Anya doesn’t even go to school, but instead has a private tutor. Anya tries not to acknowledge her loneliness; she puts her efforts into pleasing her mom, and gives her heart to her stories, secretly wishing for a story of her own.

.51kkoqljrl
Then one day at the library, the only place she’s allowed to go, she takes a picture of a beautiful boy.
Before long she’s lying to her mom, and sneaking out late at night to meet Zander. But Zander wants more than a secret romance. If Anya wants to be with the boy of her dreams, she will have to risk her relationship with the only other person she’s ever cared about.

Rachel Schieffelbein Top Ten List

Top Ten Fairy Tales:

  1. The Little Mermaid. The original story is much different from the Disney one, and I enjoy them both. The mermaid’s motivation for becoming human in the original story is quite interesting.
  2. Sleeping Beauty. I love the Disney version of this one. Merriweather was always my favorite fairy. Plus I love Prince Philip.
  3. Thumbelina. If you’ve never seen the animated version of this, you should. It’s wonderful.
  4. The Six Swans. I love the princess in this story. She’s brave and selfless. And I kind of love that it’s a girl saving all her brothers.
  5. Snow White and Rose Red. This is another one I’d love to do a retelling of some day. Not a lot of people are familiar with the story.
  6. Cinderella. There are so many wonderful retellings of Cinderella, it’s hard to pick a favorite.
  7. The Twelve Dancing Princesses. I’ve always found this one fascinating. The whole underground world the princesses visit, it’s so dark and mysterious.
  8. Snow White. I’d love to write a version of this story completely from the Evil Queen’s perspective.
  9. Beauty and the Beast, especially the Disney version. Belle IS the best Disney princess.
  10. Rapunzel. I remember having this read to me as a young child and it’s one that just stayed close to my heart. That’s why I wanted to do a contemporary retelling of it.

How long have you been writing?

I began writing professionally in 2005 when I was hired to be the weekly columnist for the Albert Lea Tribune with my column Something About Nothing. Under all the nothings we greet each other with there is always something left unsaid. I accepted a contract with Cozy Cat Press in 2013. That began my career as an author. I always have been a dreamer and in my youth would document my dreams and fiction ideas on paper.

Tell us where you were born and where do you live now.

I was born in a small town in Minnesota and I still live there having left for a few years when my husband’s career made a move necessary.

How do you know the idea is good enough to write a book about it? (more…)
