Sheriff’s
detective Katrina “Hurricane” Williams confronts deep-rooted hate
and greed in the Missouri Ozarks in this riveting police procedural…
What
at first appears to be a brush fire in some undeveloped bottom land
yields the charred remains of a young African-American man. As
sheriff’s Katrina Williams conducts her in-spection of the crime
scene, she discovers broken headstones and disturbed open graves in a
forgotten cemetery.
As
Katrina attempts to sort out a complex backwoods criminal network
involving the Aryan Brotherhood, meth dealers, and the Ozarks
Nightriders motorcycle gang, she is confronted by the sudden
appearance of a person out of her own past who may be involved. And
what seems like a clear-cut case of racially motivated murder is
further complicated by rumors of hidden silver and dark family
histories. To uncover the ugly truth, Katrina will need to dig up
past crimes and shameful secrets that certain people would kill to
keep buried . . .

Dredging
up the Truth
Still
recovering from tragedy and grieving a devastating loss, Iraq war
veteran and sheriff’s detective Katrina Williams copes the only way
she knows how—by immersing herself in work. A body’s just been
pulled from the lake with a fish haul, but what seems like a
straight-forward murder case over the poaching of paddlefish for
domestic caviar quickly becomes murkier than the depths of the lake.
Soon
a second body is found—an illegal Peruvian refugee woman linked to
a charismatic tent revival preacher. But as Katrina tries to
investigate the enigmatic evangelist, she is blocked by antagonistic
FBI agents and Army CID personnel. When more young female refu-gees
disappear, she must partner with deputy Billy Blevins, who stirs
mixed feelings in her, to connect the lake murder to the refugees.
Katrina is no stranger to darkness, but cold-blooded conspirators
plan to make sure she’ll never again see the light of day . . .

BODY
OF PROOF

 Katrina
Williams left the Army ten years ago disillusioned and damaged. Now a
sheriff’s detective at home in the Missouri Ozarks, Katrina is
living her life one case at a time—between mandated therapy
sessions—until she learns that she’s a suspect in a military
investigation with ties to her painful past.

The
disappearance of a local girl is far from the routine distraction,
however. Brutally murdered, the girl’s corpse is found by a
bottlegger whose information leads Katrina into a tangled web of
teenagers, moonshiners, motorcycle clubs, and a fellow veteran
battling illness and his own personal demons. Unraveling each thread
will take time  Katrina might not have as the Army investigator
turns his searchlight on the devastating incident that ended her
military career. Now Katrina will need to dig deep for the
truth—before she’s found buried…

Robert
E. Dunn was born an Army brat and grew up in the Missouri Ozarks. He
wrote his first book at age eleven turning a series of Jack Kirby
comic books into a hand written novel.

Over
many years in the, mostly, honest work of video and film production
he produced everything from documentaries, to training films and his
favorite, travelogues. He returned to writing mystery, horror, and
fantasy fiction for publication after the turn of the century. It
seemed like a good time for change even if the changes were not
always his choice.

Mr.
Dunn is the author of the horror novels, THE RED HIGHWAY, MOTORMAN,
and THE HARROWING, as well as the Katrina Williams mystery/thriller
series, A LIVING GRAVE, A PARTICULAR DARKNESS, and the upcoming A
DARK PATH.

The Blue Virgin (A Nora Tierney Mystery, #1)

Despite a planned move, the mysterious death of photographer Bryn Wallace keeps American writer Nora Tierney glued to Oxford in order to clear her close friend, artist Val Rogan, who has been wrongfully accused of Bryn’s murder. Or has she?

Nora quickly becomes embroiled in the murder investigation, much to the dismay of two men: Detective Inspector Declan Barnes, the senior on the case; and Simon Ramsey, the illustrator of Nora’s children’s book. Simon’s efforts to save Nora from herself become increasingly frantic as Nora is forced to push her way into Declan’s case, using her wits and her wiles to prove Val’s innocence.

The first in a series of Nora Tierney mysteries based in the UK, The Blue Virgin is a compelling story of love and intrigue. Nothing, Nora learns, is what it seems, and even the most innocent of choices can lead to murder and revenge. Set in the ancient city of golden spires, the setting lends itself to mystery, as any Inspector Morse fan will agree. The novel is written in classic English style, complete with a cast of characters and chapter epigraphs that add to its literary feel.

The Green Remains (A Nora Tierney Mystery, #2)

Nora Tierney is living at Ramsey Lodge in England’s glorious Lake District, anticipating two life-changing events: the publication of her first children’s book and the birth of her first child. Choosing a name for her son and checking proof pages with her illustrator, Simon Ramsey, fill her days–until a morning stroll along the shore of UK’s largest lake, Windermere, leads her to discover the corpse of the heir to Clarendon Hall.

When Simon is implicated in the death, Nora dives headfirst into the murder investigation to discover the real killer. As the body count rises, Nora and her unborn child will face risks and perils she could never anticipate in this second in a series of Nora Tierney mysteries.

My review:

The Green Remains an interesting murder tale with great British accent. It make the readers feel there with Nora seeing and smelling the sites. I enjoy the laid back way that this murder mystery developed. The characters are well develop and you will find it hard to stay away from the book. The lady who does the reading has a nice voice and was pleasant to my ears.

Nora is pregnant and staying in England’s glorious Lake District,. While there she found a body at the shore and Ian the detective in charge of the case is acting like she knows more that she does and has her friend Simon who is in love with her as one of the main suspected. To make things worse Simon’s sister Kate is engage to the Ian the detective.

All an all, this is good story and I give it five stars.

The Scarlet Wench (Nora Tierney Mysteries, #3)

In the third Nora Tierney Mystery set in England, American writer Nora awaits the arrival of a traveling theatre troupe who will stage Noel Coward’s play Blithe Spirit at Ramsey Lodge in the Lake District. With her son six months old, Nora must juggle parenting with helping her illustrator and friend Simon Ramsey run the lodge. She’s also hoping to further her relationship with the only lodge guest not in the cast: Detective Inspector Declan Barnes, ostensibly there for a hiking trip. When a series of pranks and accidents escalate to murder during a flood that traps everyone, Nora realizes her child is in jeopardy and determines to help Declan unmask a killer.

My review:

5 stars

I h ad the chance to listen to the third book of Nora Tierney Mystery series. Once again, I was transported to England and the pretty sites there. The novel is written in the classic English style which I enjoy a lot and I actually understood it all. Usually when I watch a British comedy, I only understand half of it, but I was able to follow along just fine. I found myself forgetting to do other things just to see what clue Nora is going to find next. The cast of characters is diverse and interesting. I like the different personalities and the quirks of each of them. It does have insinuations of sex, but nothing racy.
Ramsey Lodge is the host to a troupe of traveling stage performers. The bunch of actors and actresses are a weird bunch and seem to not get along at all. When pranks start happening, everyone blames someone else and Nora’s detective hat goes on. When one of the actresses is found murdered during a dark stormy night, her friend Declan has to abandon his vacation at the lodge and take statements from all the people that spent the night there.
I like the slower pace of the story because it gives the reader more time to savor the drama and have a chance to immerse themselves in the mystery.
