Stephanie
Mirro’s lifelong love of ancient mythology led to majoring in the
Classics in college, which wasn’t quite as much fun as writing her
own mythology stories as she did as a child. But that education,
combined with an overactive imagination and being an avid fantasy
reader, resulted in a writing career.

Starting
her days with coffee and ending them with wine means Stephanie can
usually be found juggling household chores, keeping the kids alive,
and trying to write, edit, publish, and market the stories that haunt
her dreams.

Born
and raised in Southern Arizona, Stephanie now resides in Northern
Virginia with her husband, two kids, and two furbabies. This thing
called “seasons” is still magical.

Jeffrey Bardwell is the author of The Scion’s Delight, a prequel to his Mage Conspiracy series

Friday, August 2nd, 2019

Jeffrey, welcome to my blog. How long have you been writing?

I have been publishing fantasy novels since 2017. The actual writing began when I was six, a few decades earlier.

Tell us where you were born and where do you live now.

I was raised in a rural town in northern Virginia, bounced arund the country a bit from Texas to Missouri, and then landed back in a different small town in central Virginia. Life is funny like that.

How do you know the idea is good enough to write a book about it?

If it sticks in my mind after the notion / dream / inspiration strikes, and I want to find out more, it’s a keeper.

Who has made the greatest difference for you as a writer?

My beta readers have helped spur a marked improvement in my writing. My first book was a hot mess.

What is the name of your book?

My new book is The Scion’s Delight, the prequel to my Mage Conspiracy series. It was inspired by a dream about a haughty princess trying to repair her broken death maze to torture rats. When I realized she was the younger incarnation of the evil empress in my main series, I knew I had a good story brewing.

Tell us more about it. Perhaps a back cover blurb.

A cunning trap. A whiff of magic. A burst of steam.

Princess Cordelia has steel plate ambition, a mind like twisting brass gears, and the political might of tin foil. The girl aims to ratchet the Iron Empire into a glorious new day of gears and steam. The entire palace is arrayed against her. The chambermaids disdain her. The emperor ignores her. The mages, championed by Lord Oriolanus, lead a brisk campaign of lies and coercion. Those evil magic users threaten to tighten their grip upon the land even though machines are clearly superior. By the gods’ oil-stained hands, why can’t anyone else see her vision of the ideal future?

Just when Cordelia’s future threatens to slip back into medieval quagmire, a lone stranger with ice blue eyes and flowing blond hair arrives from the savage north. The handsome barbarian is destined to make both the hearts of the empire and the princess tremble. Does this spell doom or salvation for the girl’s fragile dream?

Explore The Scion’s Delight, the fantasy romance prequel novella of The Mage Conspiracy series. Discover a world of adventure and intrigue where lies cut deeper than any sword.

Do you have a favorite character, why?

In this new book, I think Cordelia’s retiring servant Fortinbras is my favorite. His name is an homage to a character from one of my favorite fantasy authors growing up (email the correct guess who to jhbardwell@gmail.com for a free ebook!), and his deadpan pissing contest with the ruler of an empire was a joy to write.

Here is the other books in the The Mage Conspiracy

Book one

Book two

Book three

What kind of impact do you expect your works to have in the reader’s lives?

I write to edify and enlighten, but most of all to entertain. I think Erin Kahn said it much, much better than I can: A book by Jeffrey Bardwell is always a good time: exciting, dangerous, gritty, and multi-layered . . . fast-paced, entertaining, and psychologically intense.

Do you have any advice for authors trying to break into the industry?

Keep writing. Don’t be afraid to push yourself out there. Your first book will probably suck. Write another. I went back and rewrote the first book in my Artifice Mage series three times before I was happy with it (and the book truly deserved the title “epic” fantasy.)

With a second chance at life…and love, turning 50 never felt better

Live,
Love, Repeat
Milestones
Book 1
by
JD Corbett
Genre:
Contemporary Romance

Over
the last 25 years, Liz Banner’s life has grown stagnant. Not that
she hasn’t loved being a stay-at-home wife and mother, but she
didn’t mean to lose herself in the process. And after surviving the
most challenging time in her life, Liz realizes that life is too
short, and second chances don’t come around very often.

With
a milestone birthday approaching, Liz is determined to live a little.
And when her best friend, Anne, gifts her a ticket for a 10-day
luxury cruise, Liz decides it’s the perfect excuse to experience
new things, and just take some time to relax with some of her
favorite women. But her idea of a relaxing vacation gets thrown
overboard when a few surprise guests make an appearance and attempt
to win their way back into Liz’s heart.

With
a second chance at life…and love, turning 50 never felt better.
Here is the excerpt

Liz was still gaping at the man standing in front of her, frozen with shock. She was at a loss for words, though, after so many years, there was so much to say. James didn’t give her much time to process things and pulled her into a brief hug. Her body stiffened in his embrace and he pulled away to lean on the railing once more.

“Wow. I can’t believe you’re here. I thought I saw you earlier when the ship was leaving the port, but I just assumed my mind was playing tricks on me again.” James ran a hand through his hair and a wide smile played on his lips.

Again? Liz shook her head, trying to formulate a sentence. Finally, she was able to slow the swirling thoughts in her head long enough to state the obvious.

“It’s been so long,” she almost whispered, then found her fingers inching closer to his arm. Maybe he wasn’t really there. Maybe she had too much to drink, and with the stress…and her medications…

James looked down at her hand as it made contact with his forearm. His brow furrowed slightly, but he continued to smile. He met her eye. “Is everything alright?” He let a chuckle escape and Liz swiftly withdrew her hand.

She pinned both of her arms across her chest, hoping to keep them from randomly touching people. “I’m sorry. I guess, I’m a little surprised to see you.”
