affection, she spends her days and nights dreaming of a future free

feeling that she is destined to be his mate, to hell with
consequences. . . .

A

bloodied and dying. Moved to help him, she risks her future and her
life to save a stranger far below her aristocratic station.

the Dark
The
Cities Below Book 1

Demons
have returned, a vengeful enemy waiting to strike. Soren and Faith
must find a way to survive the evil and darkness.

Faith’s
spur of the moment vacation, meant to free her and boost her spirits,
has left her lost on the streets of Paris. And apparently, Paris is
populated with something more than just humans. Vampires, suave,
seductive and oh so sexy, and one such warrior vampire has set his
sights on her.

When Soren hears Faith’s terrified
screams, he rushes in and saves her life without considering the
consequences. Two problems: one, she’s a human and clearly aware of
his vampire qualities, and two, the men who attacked her were not men
at all, but demons. Their target, his beloved underground city of
Balinese. He can never let Faith go home again, but can she learn to
love his people. . .love him?

Jen Colly is
the rare case of an author who rebelled against reading assignments
throughout her school years. Now she prefers reading books in a
series, which has led her to writing her first paranormal romance
series: The Cities Below. She will write about anything that catches
her fancy, though truth be told, her weaknesses are pirates and
vampires. She lives in Ohio with her supportive husband, two kids,
one big fluffy dog, and four rescued cats.

What do you get when wizards banish a powerful demon?…3 teens from Seattle

Thursday, July 27th, 2017

What makes you passionate about writing?

I love good story-telling. Whether it’s a movie, a novel or a comic book, I love taking in any great story. Since I was young I’ve always enjoyed sci-fi and fantasy stories in particular. Something about them has just always captured my imagination. Through my life I’ve searched for good sci-fi and fantasy to take in, and I just simply haven’t found enough of it. Since there wasn’t enough out there for my taste, I decided that I needed to make my own. I write the kind of stories that aren’t really out there right now, and that I really want to read. So I’m passionate about my writing because I’m creating the things I want to find out in the world.

It sounds fascinating. Do you have a writing routine?

I try to keep up a routine of writing a few hours per day. It can be a bit difficult, since I work full-time and have a family, but my writing flows better and faster if I can find a little time to do it every day, so I do my best to make sure it happens. As far as what I do when I’m writing, I don’t really have a specific routine, I just sit down and start writing.

A panter…so am I. What is the title of your book?

My latest book is the first in The Cross-Road Travelers series. It’s called The Key to the Demon’s Gate.

What genre does your book fall under?

This book is considered to be a YA fantasy, and it certainly fits in with that genre, but I’ve kept it clean and appropriate enough that I’ve found it to be quite popular with elementary school children and their parents as well as teens.

I love YA. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

When a group of wizards from another world attempt to banish a powerful demon, they actually trade its place with 3 teens from Seattle.

Don’t say…really? How long did it take you to write the first draft of The Key to the Demon’s Gate?

It took me about 6 months to write the first draft of this book. Re-writes and editing took me another 6 months on top of that.

Edits and more edits… we could write another book if we didn’t have to edit. What other books would you compare this story to, within your genre?

One of my biggest inspirations for this story was The Chronicles of Narnia. I love the concept of kids from Earth traveling to new worlds. There are a lot of magical aspects to this story that are similar to Harry Potter as well, but I think most readers will be pleased to find aspects of these stories that they’ve never found anywhere else before.

Narnia and Harry Potter you said? I’m in…Who or What inspired you to write this book?

As I mentioned before, I always loved the concept of kids being transported to another world, so I wanted to write a story about that. Aside from liking that concept a lot, I don’t know that there’s really one specific source of inspiration for the story, it just comes from everything that I take in and think about every day.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

This story truly has something for everyone with a strong imagination. It’s full of magic, fighting, bandits, pirates, heists, and so many other things. A lot of stories include too many things, and get overwhelming, but my focus in writing is on strong relatable characters, because having characters like that gives me the chance to include so many things and still keep the story interesting without being too much. A quick read through the reviews being left for this book will show you that my readers agree. This book is full of powerful imagination balanced out by fun, and interesting characters, making it a great read for people of all ages.

Where can we find your book?

This book is available in print, as an ebook, or as an audiobook on Amazon at this link: myBook.to/CRT-1

Why is Zeld crossing swords with the Pirate Prince?

Dan, how long have you been writing?
My first published work was my bachelor’s dissertation in 1986  My first novel came out in 2010.
Tell us where you were born and where you live now.
I was born In Salt Lake City, raised in Magna, and currently live in Blanding, Utah,
How do you know the idea is good enough to write a book about it?
I had several solid ideas all put into one.  It’s written in the Anglo-American style.  Which means it reads like the American versions of Harry Potter; being a combination of British and American English.  The book is set in England in the 1200’s and is about a school for the the nobility and royalty of the time.  The book is fantasy having dragons, unicorns and other monsters.  The book is also a coming of age story, meaning the main character is a Luke Skywalker, Harry Potter, Frodo, Ender Wiggins type person named Zeldain de Saxon or Zeld.
Who has made the greatest difference for you as a writer?

Jaleta welcome to my blog. How long have you been writing?

biosmall

I’ve been telling myself stories since I was little. But somewhere along the way, people told me I was a talentless hack and I was dumb enough to believe them. But one summer, about twenty years ago, I got desperate for something more intellectually stimulating than watching another episode of Barney with my kids. We’d just bought our first computer. It came with a word processor. I sat down and started writing. And promptly got addicted to it.

Tell us where you were born and where you live now.

I was born in New Mexico, but moved to Utah when I was little. I’ve stayed here ever since.

How do you know the idea is good enough to write a book about it?

Write it. If it starts to flow, I know it’s working. If the characters and plot (more…)
