by
Marianne Petit
Genre:
Historical Romance

Author
Marianne Petit mixes true life experiences with fiction to create a
suspenseful tale of intrigue and romance set in the early days of
war-torn France.

In
1940’s Paris, both rich and poor are thrust together, a mixed society
struggling to survive. American born Yvette Matikunas, one of the
privileged few, goes underground with a deathbed promise to her
grandfather that has her roaming the streets of France with a
dangerous message. She quickly learns that no one is who they seem to
be and trust is a thing of the past.

Injured
in battle while trying to save the life of one of his men, Colonial
André Rinaldo is disillusioned by a shell-shocked country and a weak
government. Persuaded to go underground and unite his fellow
compatriots by forming resistance groups, he meets a beautiful
blonde, whose determination to free France from foreign dictatorship
is as strong as his.

In
the middle of espionage and clandestine rendezvous, they form a
partnership that deepens under the ever-present threat of arrest. But
with America’s interest in the war building in the background all
Americans are ordered to leave.

Will
Yvette return to the States, or will André persuade her to stay and
fight for love?

When he learns that thousands of his people will be sent as slaves to the mines, he must choose—fight the royal army or win the help of his kin

Friday, August 2nd, 2019
By day Yosyph appears nothing more than a mute
tavern-hand. By night he is the shadowy leader of a growing revolution.

When he learns that thousands of his people will be
sent as slaves to the mines, he must choose—fight the royal army with an
ill-prepared rebellion or journey to the land of his ancestors through the
deadly King’s Trial, where he hopes to win the help of his kin.
His journey grows complicated when he rescues a
maiden and enrages a prince, but if he doesn’t return with help in time, the
people he’s loved and secretly served will be gone.

As a youth, I made up stories to help my little
sisters go to sleep. It backfired. We stayed up for hours continuing the tale.
The King’s Trial was born in those late, whispered nights.

Ever since I climbed up to the rafters of our barn
at age four, I’ve lived high adventure: scuba diving, mud football with my
brothers, rappelling, and even riding a retired racehorse at full
gallop—bareback. I love the thrill and joy.
Stories give me a similar thrill and joy. I love
living through the eyes and heart of a hero who faces his internal demons and
the heroine who fights her way free instead of waiting to be saved. I read
fiction and true-story adventure. I write both, though I’m starting with
publishing the fiction—fact will come later.

I create high fantasy, fairy tale retellings, and
poetry. I live a joyful adventure with my husband and six children. I am a
Christian and I love my Savior.

Top Ten List

  1. As a child, I couldn’t walk across a room. I danced, spun, skipped, ran, or otherwise moved, but I couldn’t just walk.
  2. I took calculus at a community college at age 14. I planned to go to MIT and become an astronaut. Plans changed—in wonderful ways.

  1. I love reading to my children. We’ve enjoyed books from Dr. Seuss to Les Misérables. Maniac Magee is one of our favorites.
  2. I lived in St Petersburg, Russia for half-a-year teaching English to kindergartners. I learned to wash my clothes in a bathtub, filter and boil my drinking water, and love my sweet, crayon-eating, kids.
  3. I have slight dyslexia. ‘b’ and ‘p’ sometimes flip flop on me. But it also means I can read a book upside-down.
  4. I love climbing, rappelling, and horseback riding. But I hate roller coasters and bungee jumping.

  1. I’ve journaled almost every day since I turned seventeen. I capture conversations, descriptions, happenings, and quotes. I explore ideas. Through the years I’ve written well over a million words. It prepared me to become an author.
  2. Plumbing Repair is my nemesis. I’m grateful I don’t have to battle it very often. In the end, I always win, but I feel like I’ve fought an archvillain who pulled every dirty trick in the book, including Chinese water torture in claustrophobic conditions.

  1. I live with a vivid imagination. I dream in 3-D, technicolor, and occasionally with my eyes open. This is a bane when it comes to nightmares. I will not watch horror movies.
  2. The King’s Trial started as a bedtime tale I told my little sisters twenty years ago. Don’t worry. I wrote the second book, The King’s Shadow,in six months, and it will come out this autumn.

Plus an extra: I have an accent. People often ask me where I’m from. Maybe it’s my reader accent. I’ve read out-loud enough different books in character, that perhaps it stuck.

Tracked by unknown assassins, they must figure out whom they can trust and who is behind the plot

Tuesday, July 9th, 2019

Thanks for stopping by! Take a look at this brand-new fantasy adventure story with a hint of romance by author Annie Douglass Lima.
You can download a copy of the ebook for free between July 9th and 11th!

Book Description:
    Life as
the king’s younger sister should be exciting.

   Not for
Princess Kalendria. She’s sick of the dissent and of constantly having her
family undermined by those who think they could rule Malorn better than King
Korram.
   Hoping to
lighten the mood in the palace, Kalendria plans a ball to celebrate her
seventeenth birthday. It doesn’t hurt that their handsome Alasian ally King
Jaymin has promised to attend, and she’s been waiting for him to notice her for
as long as she can remember.
   But
unfriendly forces have their own party plans. When Kalendria, Korram, and
Jaymin barely survive an assassination attempt, their only recourse is to flee
into the wilderness. Tracked by unknown assassins, they must figure out whom
they can trust and who is behind the plot. Can Kalendria help her brother
reclaim his throne – oh, and catch Jaymin’s attention while she’s at it –
before they are all killed and war destroys both kingdoms?

Series Information:

King of Malorn is book 5 in the Annals

of Alasia. But don’t worry if you haven’t read the others; it will still make sense on its own.

Each of the first four books can stand on its own as well. They each deal with events surrounding the same major political incident: the invasion
of the kingdom of Alasia by the neighboring kingdom of Malorn.

Prince of Alasia begins on the night of the Invasion and
describes what happens to twelve-year-old Prince Jaymin after he is forced to
flee for his life.

In
the Enemy’s Service

features a girl as the protagonist and tells the story of those who were not
able to escape from the Alasian palace when the enemy invaded.

Prince of Malorn begins several months earlier and
focuses on the Malornian perspective of the events leading up to the
Invasion.

The Nameless Soldier shows how a young Alasian soldier lives through the Invasion but then has to survive and make a name for himself in enemy-occupied Alasia.

In each of the books, main
characters from the others make brief appearances and interact with each other
at the point where the timeframes and settings overlap.

I also have a short
ebook of “interviews” that I conducted with the characters in the other three
books. Annals of Alasia: The Collected
Interviews
is not available on Amazon, but I send a free copy to anyone who
signs
up for my mailing list

(to receive updates when I release new books or occasionally offer them for free).

The Child of Happiness, by S.V. Cobets, is abeautiful poetry collection that reaches deep into the soul

Wednesday, March 27th, 2019
The
Child of Happiness
by
S.V. Cobets
Genre:
Poetry

Edited
version

This collection of poetry is a summary of my selected
poems that I wrote for many years. I hope that you enjoy reading them
as much as I enjoyed writing them. In this collection of poetry are
collected all of my feelings that I want to share with you through
verse.
“The Child of Happiness, by S.V. Cobets, is a
beautiful poetry collection that reaches deep into the soul. Though
the author’s native language is Croatian and not English, the
emotional depth of each poem comes across clearly and will be
relatable across cultures. Sensual and light with themes of nature &
love, yet also tinged with feelings of sadness and darker themes of
heartache, pain, loss, & the casualties of war – there were many
poems that spoke to my heart.”

Genre:
SciFi Romance Adventure

The
year is 2197. More than one hundred years have passed since the
natural destruction of the Earth’s surface. The surviving inhabitants
are now living in Heavenly Cities high above the clouds with no
intention of ever descending back to the unstable surface
again.

Helen
is a lawyer who lives in one of those cities. Her life is almost
perfect, but very soon she is going to find out that it was all just
an illusion as her dreams scatter like leaves in the wind and the
only thing left for her to return to will be her hometown.

But
on her way home, an almost fatal car accident on the heavenly highway
turns her life in a drastically new direction. Helen finds herself
crashing down onto the earth’s destructive surface and landing in a
forest world that is completely alien to her with a million and one
questions and very few answers.

The
number 1 question being – is it really true what the government told
her and the surviving population that no one ever survived down on
Earth? Well, what if the truth was the complete opposite? What if
there really were survivors?

When
Atlantis fell into the sea, a single creature survived–a scarlet
phoenix. She escaped with ancient man’s historical record, The
Great Book of Forgetting. This book recorded mankind’s every legend
and prophecy. Only the Archangel of Death understood man’s survival
depended on the fulfillment of one particular prophecy, that of the
scarlet phoenix.

Rhea
is the scarlet phoenix, transmuted into human form with wings of

prevent the prophecy. The Archangel befriends and protects her as he
watches her traverse time and mold history. She is the proverbial
rose that blooms in a future garden.

Jean-Louis
Riviere is an aristocrat who became a vampire during the American

incredible possibilities. His family ties will lure those who wish to
destroy the prophecy; however, the Archangel also knows his blood is
all that will save the rose and secure the future

Aeonian needs to learn to control her bloodlust, find her missing husband, and return to raise their son

Wednesday, March 7th, 2018

Morgan J Muir lives in Utah with her fantastic husband, three offspring, and as many cats (but she doesn’t carry them with kits in sacks, and has never been to St. Ives). She grew up riding horses and motorcycles and listening to her grandmother read poetry. She grew up reading any sci-fi/fantasy novel she could get her hands on and so was surprised the day she discovered that she also really enjoyed historical fiction.
Morgan always loved to write and draw and her parents always liked to say that they knew she’d write a book some day.  Ever since she was small she told stories and drew pictures for her tales.  When she got old enough, all of her spare time between classes was spent writing and she always had a notebook with her.
Her first novel was originally written after her first child was born, to help her pass the long, lonely hours as a new stay-at-home mom.  As her kids got older and more came she was too busy to do much with her stories, until one year she was introduced to NaNoWriMo, which finally rekindled the spark that led her to finish what she’d started.

Morgan’s favorite authors are Brandon Sanderson, Kristen Britain and Marion Zimmer Bradley.

At first, it seems her path is simple: learn to control her bloodlust, find her missing husband, and return with him to raise their son. However, things are more complicated than they seem, and neither Sophus nor her husband’s captor is willing to let them go. Mariah must use whatever skills she can to find her husband and protect her still-mortal son, but will it be enough?

Excerpt

Mikhael stood in the darkness, adjusting the sails of the tiny fishing boat, and enjoying his moment of peace and quiet. Enjoying the rise and fall of the waves, the feel of the ocean spray on his skin. Enjoying being alone. As alone as he ever was, anyway. Elisa was busy working some political party back in town, and Theron was preoccupied watching her, coaching her on what to say. It was late, and Mikhael had managed to plead that he needed to rise early to attend to business in the morning before Theron or Elisa could protest. His excuses made to the host and fellow guests, they had no choice but to let him go.

Feeling daring, he had commandeered a small sailboat and set out into the bay. The nightly catatumbo lightning storm brewed in the distance; it would be a few hours before he would need to change direction to avoid it. Mikhael had no fear for his own life, but he did wish to return the boat in one piece; he did not want to deprive some small family of their only means of income.

He inhaled deeply, tasting the salt in the air and feeling a clean breeze sweep down from the shore, caressing his shoulders as it passed and swirled about. Smiling, Mikhael closed his eyes and gave himself up to his other senses, adjusting automatically to the rise and fall of the boat beneath him. Sailing relaxed him like nothing else he had experienced. It was peaceful. He could almost imagine that he did not remain a prisoner, a puppet of some twisted master, that he didn’t live by stealing the lives of others. He could almost believe that he hadn’t spent his entire remembered existence with a woman he merely tolerated, while longing for a specter who he wasn’t sure had ever really been.

The thought of the dark-haired angel who haunted his memories turned his mind to the pendant he always kept on his person. Often, throughout the years, he had longed to rid himself of the thing nearly as strongly as he longed to throw off the ropes of Theron and Elisa, cords that existed only to control him. But this stone — what had it ever asked of him? How had it ever tried to control him? Many times he had held it out over the sea, needing only to twitch his hand and let it slip into the deep, but he could not. That such a small, insignificant little bit of rock could hold such sway over him galled him. As though it called to him, he reached into a pocket and pulled it out.

Opening his eyes, he looked at the pendant in its diamond-studded setting. What he really wanted, what he hoped for when he was being honest with himself, was that someday she would reappear. But she had not. Not for years. Not since that first time, the only time.

“What power do you have over me?” he whispered into the night, touching the stone gently.

“The same you hold over me,” a voice whispered in the wind. Startled, Mikhael dropped into a crouch and looked around, searching for the speaker who had no scent and made no noise. When he found nothing, the thought crept into his mind that he had simply imagined an answer from the flapping of the sail, the crash of the waves, and the caress of the wind. A little irritated at himself, he sat down, leaning against the side of the boat.

“Not only can I not rid myself of you, now I think you’re speaking to me,” Mikhael said ruefully to the trinket. Sighing, he leaned his head back and gazed up at the stars. “Perhaps I am finally going mad.”

“I have sometimes wondered if immortals ever went mad,” the quiet voice replied.

“I think you are the proof of it,” Mikhael responded with a smile, his gaze still on the stars.

“No more than you are,” came the enigmatic reply.

“What do you mean by that?” he asked. He decided he liked the voice; it was feminine, sure, and beautiful. If he had to hallucinate, he was glad it was pleasant.

“If I am your madness, then you are mine.” The voice had a smile in it. Mikhael closed his eyes and the dark-haired angel appeared in his mind. Yes, he thought, the voice matches you.

Rosewood
Manor has been ashes for weeks.

Left
with no post and no home, Anne Tinning never expected to find herself
in a luxurious carriage, dressed in the finest of clothes, pretending
to be the wife of Lord August Grey. The search for Miss Bellingham,
however, will require them to blend into the very height of London
society, a class Anne has only ever served, and which August
despises. But August insists that the ruse is the only way. For
although they’ve vanquished the wraith that called for August’s
life, they will never be safe unless they find a way to stop the
woman he scorned.

There
are traces of Lily Bellingham the length and breadth of London, but
when Anne and August investigate the gruesome disappearances in a
factory she has just purchased, they realize that Lily is more
powerful than either of them. And she has devised a new way to take
her revenge.

With
another curse placed upon August’s head, Anne must find a way to
defeat Lily, and this time, she will have no help from the young man
she has grown to love. This time, the curse is more insidious,
twisting him into someone unrecognizable.

This
time, August Grey is the one she must fear.

Lush,
lyrical, and layered in horror-filled suspense, Of Bells and Thorns
evokes the feel of classic Gothic literature, blending the magic of a
beautiful fairy tale against the rich backdrop of history.

The
day Anne Tinning turns seventeen, birds fall from the sky. But that’s
hardly the most upsetting news. She’s being dismissed from the home
she’s served at since she was a child, and shipped off to become the
newly hired parlor maid for a place she’s never heard of. And when
she sees the run-down, isolated house, she instantly knows
why:

There’s
something wrong with Rosewood Manor.

Staffed
with only three other servants, all gripped by icy silence and
inexplicable bruises, and inhabited by a young master who is as cold
as the place itself, the house is shrouded in neglect and thick with
fear. Her questions are met with hushed whispers, and she soon finds
herself alone in the empty halls, left to tidy and clean rooms no one
visits.

As
the feeling of being watched grows, she begins to realize there is
something else in the house with them–some creature that stalks the
frozen halls and claws at her door. A creature that seems intent on
harming her.

When
a fire leaves Anne trapped in the manor with its Master, she finally
demands to know why. But as she forces the truth about what haunts
the grounds from Lord Grey, she learns secrets she isn’t prepared
for. The creature is very real, and she’s the only one who can help
him stop it.

Now,
Anne must either risk her life for the young man she’s grown to
admire, or abandon her post while she still can.

Scientists attempted to find a cure for addiction. They failed

Sunday, October 22nd, 2017
Tainted
Cure
The
Rememdium Series Book 1
by
Ashley Fontainne
Genre:
Post-apocalyptic, SciFi

Scientists
attempted to find a cure for addiction. They failed.

Dr.
Everett Berning, a leading researcher into the causes of addiction in
the brain, spent ten years of his life dedicated to one thing:
finding the cure. Recruited after a strange encounter with the
enigmatic Dr. Roberta Flint, Director of Research on Code Name:
Rememdium, Dr. Berning is sent to work in a secret lab as part of the
research team.

When
the moment the scientists waited on for years arrives, Dr. Flint and
her team are ecstatic.

Unfortunately,
not everyone in the world feels the same way.

Benito
San Nicholas isn’t ready to give up his lucrative business. When the
news of a cure arrives on his doorstep from a crooked informant,
Benito enlists the help of other drug lords from around the world to
stop the cure from hitting the streets and destroying their
livelihoods.

What
happens next ends up uniting the globe–just not the way society ever
intended or hoped.

“Tainted
Cure is a huge success on different levels. First, the story is
original, well thought-out, and brilliantly accomplished. It’s not
unusual to read books with dangerous products falling into the wrong
hands, but what happens when a good product falls into the wrong
hands? The characters are lovely and engaging, and readers will feel
inclined to connect with Dr. Everett Berning and the enigmatic
Roberta Flint. Benito is the epitome of evil, a greedy character that
readers will hate. Third, the pace is fast and there are so many
surprises and twists to keep readers turning the pages. Ashley
Fontainne has crafted an intriguing story that starts with a bang and
ends on a very high note. You can’t help but fall for this author’s
beautiful prose, her complex characters, and the oh-so-entertaining
read.” – Romuald Dzemo for Readers’ Favorite

1 Give me a brief Bio of you.

Teya’s most recent accomplishment started in the summer of 2015, with the publication of Stripes. Continued on to Within Qwestar, Treasures of Truth, and her dad’s dream come true with publishing his books. He passed untimely in 2006, and will always be and continue to be her inspiration. She is the 2016 local A.N.W.A. chapter (Snake River Writers) president, won National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWritMo) by writing a 50,000 word book in twelve days, and loves Storymakers.

Teya has been writing for as long as she can remember. Started with poetry at a young age while she lived on a street she affectionately named Hill Street Blues, and continued when her family moved to Menan.

She loves sitting in her soft chair next to the fireplace and watching out a big living room window. It gives her plenty of creative juice for stories.

She met the love of her life in the loft of a barn. Yep, that set up some teasing from her father. They have been happily married since 2003, with four children, but refuses to comment on the trolls in the closets and under the beds

The Dream Walker will visit you

Monday, June 22nd, 2015
Question 1 Michelle, what makes you passionate about writing?
Answer 1: That is hard to answer. I love writing because it gives me a medium to express my feelings, my soul. I can do it anywhere, anytime. All I need is a pen and paper. The paper does not judge my feelings, my actions. It doesn’t tell me I told you so, or If you only had listened. It is a medium like no other. I can write short poems, long stories. I can write true things that happened, or make things up. The possibilities are endless. I can create characters, worlds, magic systems. Though like a famous quote, sometimes the best stories are the true ones.
roundcube-9
Question 2 Do you have a writing routine?
Answer 2 I try to write at night, after all of the homework, band practice, and dinner is done. I don’t really have a routine. I handwrite everything first in a big notebook. Sometimes, I get ideas when going for walks, or listening to the radio. or from a quote or something I read so I will jot down the first couple lines, and finish the rest later.
Question 3: What is the title of your book?
Answer 3: I have two books out in my young adult fantasy series, and a short story. They are The Dream Walker, Land of Mystica Series Volume One, The Dream Walker Returns, Land of Mystica Series Volume Two, and Ichra’s Quest A land of Mystica Short story. I also have a short poetry book out called Rainbows and Dreams.
