Rick made some mistakes as a boy, and as a young man, his worst was hurting Grace Evans

Friday, September 6th, 2019
Grace has given up on romance, on almost everything, since Rick Fleming betrayed her faith in him five years ago. Given her constant struggle with bad luck (her friend Murphy), being insanely accident prone, and having been the target of endless ridicule growing up, she has no reason to trust anyone.
Rick made some mistakes as a boy, and as a young man, his worst was hurting Grace Evans. His heart still belongs to her, even if she doesn’t know it. Unfortunately, in the last confrontation between them, she demanded he never speak to her again.
Now, Grace’s best friend (and Rick’s sister) Hannah has invited her to a ten-day summer work-vacation to babysit Hannah’s teen cousins. A palatial cabin, a patio boat on the lake, and all the comforts of the rich and famous at their fingertips? A vacation made in heaven.
At least until they arrive and Grace finds Rick there. And neither can leave. Rick’s car is in pieces in the garage, and Grace forgot her driver’s license at home.
How will Grace survive it? Can she find a way to forgive? Can Rick learn to take
responsibility for his past mistakes? And even if they succeed, what will they do when Rick’s most recent wantabe girlfriend shows up on their doorstep, determined to make Rick hers?

Susan was born and raised a Southern California girl but is grateful to have lived on the Oregon coast and in the Rocky Mountains of northern Utah. She’s now enjoying living with her husband in the incomparable beauty of the Redwood forest, nestled against the rugged coast of Northern California.
Susan raised a tribe of children, making ends meet as a registered nurse and lactation consultant, and now her tribe members have tribes of their own and she doesn’t get to see enough of them. Rick dropped onto his bed, staring at the ceiling and wishing he was anywhere but here. He looked at his hands, hands now those of a twenty-five-year-old man. They were stained in a few places with car grease, thick from working out, and scarred across both palms from the accident. The accident. His badge of shame.

He wondered how differently life would have gone five long years ago if he’d taken Sean’s dare to kiss Grace. Would she have hated him more for doing it than not doing it? Would she have accused him of using her for a thrill instead of showing her how he truly felt? He feared both as much as he feared showing his feelings to Sean. Still, was there something—anything—he could have done that would have changed that awful night?

Grace’s clumsiness annoyed Scott and gave Sean another reason to tease her, which upset Rick. Everybody had clumsy moments. Even clumsy days. After all, he smacked himself in the face with a wrench this afternoon and had to chase it across the garage floor before he snagged it. He was the klutz, not Grace.

He sighed, wondering if what Hannah often told him was right. Sometimes angels came along and, in the strangest ways, guided God’s children in the right direction. Coming here had been a last-minute decision, the thought jumping into his head out of the middle of nowhere. But maybe this week might turn out to be a gift from Heaven. If he could get past Grace Evans’ defenses, he might be able to earn her forgiveness, even if he wasn’t able to find a way into her heart.

How hard can it be to tame his darker, more cynical side?

Friday, July 12th, 2019
Detour
to Paradise
by
River Ames
Genre:
Sweet Contemporary Romance

Lucas
Rockworth—a hard-driving force of nature has been ordered by his
doctor to take some time off and get his blood pressure under
control. You would think buying a cabin in the natural splendor known
as Gray Horse Lake, Idaho, would do the trick. All that mountain
greenery, crystal blue lakes and rivers, and nature-run-amok had to
be exactly what the doctor had ordered.

Enter
Sarah Burke… The innocently enticing young entrepreneur who’s
opening an equestrian camp for children with handicaps.

Her
initial impression of him is clearly wrong. For some reason, known to
the reader but unknown to him, Sarah mistakenly believes that Lucas
Rockworth is a shy, sensitive man. After having to deal a lifetime
with a dominating older brother and controlling father, she finds
these traits very appealing.

Her
recent breakup with someone who could best be described as a bully
has Sarah longing for a kinder, gentler man in her life.

Lucas
tells himself that, since he makes his living as a general
contractor, he has the hands-on experience to make himself into
anything Miss Sarah Burke is looking for.

It
shouldn’t be that great a stretch to become a modern, sensitive
kind of guy, should it? She wants Mr. Rogers… Well, darn, he can
manage that for the short time he’s in Idaho.

How
hard can it be to tame his darker, more cynical side?

As
for Sarah Burke? She thinks she’s met a real life version of Mr.
Rogers. But, the reader knows its Rambo who’s come
a’courting.

Would
the real Lucas Rockworth care to step forward?

River
Ames spent the first eighteen years of her life in Southern
California. Here is a partial list of some of the cities in which she
lived: Pasadena, South Pasadena, Duarte, El Monte, Arcadia La Puente,
Lomita, West Covina, Pacifica, Santa Monica, Palmdale, and Hacienda
Heights. In some of those cities, she lived at six different
addresses. In the city of La Puente, River’s family lived in four
different houses on the same street. The non-glamorous reason for all
the moves was habitual eviction necessitated for non-payment of rent.
It was an interesting way to grow up.
River
attended twenty-six different elementary schools, two different
junior high schools and four different high schools. In one
elementary school, she was a student for only three days.
Perhaps,
because she was so frequently identified as the “new girl,”
the pattern of River being an observer instead of a participant in
the interactions going on around her seemed a logical fit for her
personality.
When
she was thirteen, River read “Gone with the Wind.” She
skipped three days of school in order to finish the book in one
sitting. Disappointed in Rhett for “not giving a damn,”
River wrote her own sequel–in long hand, on three-hole punch,
notebook paper. The opening line? “Tomorrow dawned bright and
fair.” In less than fifty pages, Scarlett had been transformed
into Jane Eyre and Rhett had fallen in love with her all over again.
After
Southern California, River has spent the next part of her life living
in the semi-rural town of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is a graduate of
Idaho State University, majoring in Health Education Sciences and
Addiction Counseling. She’s worked the past ten years at a Behavioral
Health Center where she assisted children, teenagers, and adults
committed in a 24/7 secured facility because of mental health
challenges they are experiencing.
River’s
books celebrate the good-natured humor that lays at the heart of most
of our human predicaments. The conflicts are significant, yet it is
her characters and their quirky (yet somehow universally relatable)
thoughts, words, and choices that reflect a light-hearted peek into a
world we wish was real. The amazing thing is that these worlds are
real to readers for the time they visit there.
Readers
have said: “In a River Ames book, one minute I’m laughing out
loud, and the next I have a lump in my throat.”
River
is currently readying a historical novel, “Gideon’s Justice.”
This three-part novel is Book I in a three volume western series set
in the Colorado Territory.

Lance determines that due to the trauma she has suffered, the young woman requires retraining to become age-appropriate in all of her activities

Sunday, July 7th, 2019

About Lost and Found by Breanna Hayse,

Lance Callahan, MD, is known to his hospital staff as a man with a heart of gold. When a young woman is brought in with a gunshot wound and severe post-traumatic amnesia, Lance is just the man to care for her. No one knows who she is, where she’s from, or why she was left to perish in the unforgiving desert. Even her name, Noelle, is known to Lance only from an inscription on a necklace found in her pocket.

In his effort to help Noelle, Lance determines that due to the trauma she has suffered, the young woman requires retraining to become age-appropriate in all of her activities. Her little girl persona further shocks him when she suddenly claims him as her “Daddy.”

With nowhere else for her to go, Lance turns to his close-knit family for help, and Noelle suddenly finds herself with a new aunt and two new uncles, along with more love than she can handle. She quickly learns that there are some very specific rules in the Callahan home, for both Daddy’s little girl and Lance’s big girl, and that the consequences for breaking the rules include a very red and sore bottom!

Questions remain about Noelle’s past, and as the mystery of her origins slowly unravels, it becomes clear that Noelle has a very special secret of her own… a secret that could tear apart everything she’s learned to love, including the joy of being lost and then found by a man who’s given his heart to her.

BDSM/AP lifestyler Breanna Hayse strives to give her readers truth and reality of the BDSM/Age-Play/Total Power and Erotic Exchange lifestyle.
Who am I?
I’m a native Californian gone ‘wild’, and had the opportunity to travel the globe and discover the world through the eyes of both a Marine Intelligence specialist and a BDSM lifestyler. I left the service and received a BS in Biological Sciences/Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Physics and then went on the gain my Masters in psychology. Following a government shut-down, I ventured into hospice nursing and grief counseling, and extended my practice to marriage and family therapy for those involved in alternative lifestyle development. This experience has allowed me to gain unique perspective for my books and offer realistic plots and relatable characters.

In 2004, my husband, John, and I joined forces to work with both submissives and dominants- teaching, training, listening and loving. Our goal was to take the mystery and fear out of the lifestyle and mentor people in safe, consensual and healthy relationships.

My first book, The Game Plan, was published in 2012 and opened the door to the now-booming world of Age-Play literature. Since that time, I’ve devoted my ‘spare’ time to writing, researching, community involvement, and private and group pro bono counseling in deviant behavior, alternative lifestyle, and addiction recovery.

I was formally ‘dungeon trained’ as a Domme before discovering my submissive side when I joined the service. My scenarios are pulled primarily from either personal experience or observation, including spending time in BDSM clubs as the safety/medical officer. My multi-faceted background allows me to glean from many avenues and give a unique and intelligent literary experience through elements of fantasy and fiction. I also discuss the questions and psychology of the lifestyle in a manner that is fun and informative, and based on ‘the real deal.’

I live with my husband, musician, and fellow-author, John Hayse, and two border collies in southern California. We practice a 24/7 D&S relationship with speckles of AP (and many trips to Build-A-Bear), and happily spend every moment together that we can. My hobbies include my puppies, hiding my vanilla salt-water taffy where John can’t find it, art, yelling at stupid people on the television, and collecting inspirational trinkets. I’ve also developed my own paddle line-Subtle Hints.

Booke
of the Hidden
A Booke of the Hidden
Novel #1

“Westerson
creates an utterly believable history of witches, demons, and magic
for her claustrophobic New England village including a heroine with
enough spark, smarts, and stubbornness to keep both the bad guys and
the deliciously dangerous love-interest on their toes.” —Kat
Richardson, author of the Greywalker series

To
get a fresh start away from a bad relationship, Kylie Strange moves
across the country to open a shop in a seemingly quiet town in rural
Maine. During renovations on Strange Herbs & Teas, she discovers
a peculiar and ancient codex,
The
Booke of the Hidden
,
bricked into the wall. Every small town has its legends and unusual
histories, and this artifact sends Kylie right into the center of
Moody Bog’s biggest secret.

While
puzzling over the tome’s oddly blank pages, Kylie gets an
unexpected visitor—Erasmus Dark, an inscrutable stranger who claims
to be a demon, knows she has the book, and warns her that she has
opened a portal to the netherworld. Kylie brushes off this nonsense,
until a series of bizarre murders put her, the newcomer, at the
center. With the help of the demon and a coven of witches she
befriends while dodging the handsome but sharp-eyed sheriff, Kylie
hunts for a killer—that might not be human.

She’s wrong. Her life is about to change—for the worse. First,
she receives a gift of the ugliest, most old fashioned bike she has
ever seen. Try as she might to ditch it in the city, she just can’t
seem to escape that very mysterious two-wheeler. Then come the
visions of a world across a dimensional divide, a princess in fear
for her life and a dark knight pursuing her. Are they just dreams or
something more? For Charlee, everything she ever thought she knew
about herself soon crumbles as she starts down a path to discover her
true self, and she will need that hunk-of-junk bike more than she
could ever imagine. Without it, she might not be able to find the

Can
Charlee stave off the twisted tendrils of the medallion long enough

even survive so far from home? Her only hope may rest in the Lord of
the Dragons, but that beast turned his back on her grandfather long
ago…

Darren
Simon resides in Southern California where he works as a college
English teacher after a career as a newspaper journalist. His love
for writing began with a love for reading when his grandmother gave
him a wonderful gift—a brown paper bag filled with comic books from
the 1960s and ’70s. From there, he moved on to Choose Your Own
Adventure
books. Eventually he discovered the works of J.R.R.
Tolkien, which solidified his interest in writing epic fantasy and
science fiction tales.
So
far, he has focused his writing on middle grade and young adult
fiction to inspire young readers just as he was inspired to read and
write at a young age.
He
self-published his first novel though iUniverse and immediately went
on to write the second book in the series. Upon completing the second
book, he decided to seek more traditional publishing. After countless
rejection letters, a small independent publisher—Divertir
Publishing—decided to pick up the series, a fantasy about a
teen-aged girl who learns her family is actually from an alternate
dimension, and only she has the power to protect Earth from a
sorceress from her world—who just happens to be her great aunt.
Divertir republished the first book, titled, Guardian’s
Nightmare
, in 2015. The second book in the series, Guardian’s
Return
, was released in April.
Darren
has also written another series—a young adult historical pirate
fantasy set in the golden age of piracy, mixing historical pirates
and pirate hunters with his fictional characters in a time-traveling,
swashbuckling tale. The first book in that series, The Dangerous
Legacy,
was published in 2016 by Tell-Tale Publishing. The second
book in the series, The Deadly Waters, is due out later this
year.
All
his books are available at Amazon.com and Barnes&noble.com.
Darren,
who lives with his wife, Sandra and two sons, Daniel and Jacob, and
two crazy dogs, in the Valley, is continuing to write and develop new
stories, including a young adult novel now in the hands of literary
agency.

Tick Tock: A Stitch in Crime -The clock is ticking…

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018

Gwen Gardner, Welcome to my blog. Tell us how long have you been writing?

Since 2010. I’ve been an avid reader my whole life, but when it comes to writing, I’m a late bloomer. To me, there is definitely a correlation between the two, although I didn’t connect them until much later in life. But once the writing bug bit me, there was no turning back.

I know what you mean. Tell us where you were born and where do you live now.

I grew up a Navy brat and then married a gypsy, so travel runs in my veins. I love it! Although technically I’m a Southern California girl, I love the beach and the mountains with equal vigor. I love traveling through Europe, and I’m a complete anglophile. In fact, my story, A Stitch in Crime, takes place in the fictional village of Sabrina Shores in England. The architecture is older than you see here in the States, so you know that anything that old must hold secrets…and ghosts. I love telling their stories.

Secrets, Ghost…Wow. How do you know the idea is good enough to write a book about it?

When an idea won’t go away, I’ll jot the idea down and revisit it a few times. If it still nags me, I’ll rough out an outline, to include the ending. If it still interests me, then I’ll write about it.

It makes sense. Who has made the greatest difference for you as a writer?

First and foremost, my husband. If not for him telling me it was okay to have dreams and chase after them, I doubt I would have ever pursued writing. Inspiration-wise, I admire J.K. Rowling with her fantastic world-building and storytelling ability. Her first Harry Potter book was turned down fifteen times! She didn’t give up. And surprisingly, Stephen King has inspired me. I don’t read horror, but his autobiographical book, On Writing, contains some very real lessons on the craft and the writing journey. He threw away his first draft of Carrie! Luckily his wife fetched it out of the bin. It helps to have someone who believes in you.

Hubbies, are awesome when they believe in you. What is the name of your book?

Tick Tock: A Stitch in Crime is the name of the anthology to be published by Dancing Lemur Press on May 1, 2018. My story, A Stitch in Crime is the feature piece.

Sounds intriguing. Tell us more about it.

Perhaps a backcover blurb. A Stitch in Crime: Seasoned ghost whisperer Indigo Eady hoped for an easy haunting this time, but when she’s called out to the local Candy Cupboard, those hopes are dashed. A death spot appears where no one has recently died. She discovers that a child died in that very spot—sixty years ago. Why wait sixty years to return to the spot where you died?  It’s up to Indigo and her sidekick Franny to find out before it’s too late.

Tick Tock: A Stitch in Crime

The clock is ticking…

Can a dead child’s cross-stitch pendant find a missing nun? Is revenge possible in just 48 minutes? Can a killer be stopped before the rescuers are engulfed by a city ablaze? Who killed what the tide brought in? Can a soliloquizing gumshoe stay out of jail?

Exploring the facets of time, eleven authors delve into mysteries and crimes that linger in both dark corners and plain sight. Featuring the talents of Gwen Gardner, Rebecca M. Douglass, Tara Tyler, S. R. Betler, C.D. Gallant-King, Jemi Fraser, J. R. Ferguson, Yolanda RenEe, C. Lee McKenzie, Christine Clemetson, and Mary Aalgaard.

Hand-picked by a panel of agents and authors, these eleven tales will take you on a thrilling ride into jeopardy and secrecy. Trail along, find the clues, and stay out of danger. Time is wasting…

Is there a book trailer for your book?

I would love Dancing Lemur Press to make a trailer, but as of yet, there isn’t one.

Do you have a favorite character, why?

I love the interaction between Indigo and Franny. It couldn’t be a story without both of them. Sweet and funny, Indigo Eady is a young woman just trying to get by in the world, but her ghost whispering abilities play havoc with her life. Normality would be a true luxury. Her ghostly sidekick, Franny, is a former Victorian madam of some repute. Her well-meaning but interfering ways adds to the chaos in Indigo’s life—especially when she insists on finding a man for Indigo.

That is awesome. What kind of impact do you expect your works to have in the reader’s lives?

The world is so chaotic these days. All you have to do is turn on the TV or fire up the internet to get a massive dose of reality. For some, the everyday bombardment can be overwhelming. My lighthearted cozy mysteries will appeal to those people who want a break from the stress of real life. In my stories, there is no overt violence or sex. The bad guy is always caught and justice is always served. And of course, add a splash of mayhem, a dash of humor and a bit of pot stirring to make things more interesting, and the result is very satisfying!

I bet they are…. Do you have any advice for authors trying to break into the industry?

Every successful author’s advice I’ve read says to write, write, write. It’s true. There are no shortcuts to becoming a successful writer. You must write and study every craft book you can get your hands on. Success comes with practice. Forget how bad the first draft is. It’s through editing that your work begins to unfold properly.

What are this year’s goals?

I am in the process of editing another Indigo and Franny novel called, A Scandal in Boohemia, as well as a short story called, Lady Sings the Boos. I plan to publish them by the end of the year.

I can’t wait to read your work. Where can we find your book?

If
one person can make a difference, just think what three can do.

Clint
Westerly was a success until a fateful choice he makes tears his
world all apart. Tanya Wilshire is broke but hell-bent on committing
to her mother’s final deathbed request. 84-year-old Seamus Harrington
needs to right an ancient wrong before time runs out.

Filled
with grit and determination, these three people with three different
problems, an unlikely trio of unexpected allies, converge in a small
Irish town to form a Triangle of Hope against all odds. Together they
take a courageous stand that will forever change their world and that
around them.

If

book that will stay with you forever.”- Wanda Hartzenberg,

Love might indeed be the only salvation

Saturday, November 25th, 2017
The
Dear Departed
by
Anne Roebuck
Genre:
Historical Paranormal Romance

The
widows of Victorian era San Francisco are dying of decidedly
unnatural causes, and to expose the culprit Virginia Paley must
partner with the darkly mysterious Jonathan Bradshaw, entering a
world of occult rituals and unexplainable phenomena—and magical
love.

BEYOND
THE VEIL

Young
widow Virginia Paley has no interest in attending the séances at The
Society for Eternal Love, but the women of the society are dying
mysteriously in their sleep, leaving their fortunes to Professor
Arthur Chadwick, its charismatic medium. As her aunt might very well
become the next victim, Virginia will do whatever she must to ensure
that doesn’t happen. She will even join forces with the darkly
mysterious Jonathan Bradshaw.

From
the moment he spies her, Jonathan is smitten. But romance is
impossible. Mrs. Paley is a respectable woman, and he himself is
outside of society, an orphan, an ex-thief and a true wizard, able to
hypnotize with a word and even separate his spirit from his body. No,
he must instead remain focused on his goal, avenging his mentor’s
death. But, facing a foe with power over demonic forces and
Virginia’s very life in the balance, love might indeed be the only
salvation.

From
my first poem at age 10 and my first short story at age 12, I can’t
help writing about my two favorite things – magic and love. An
unrepentant nerd, I started out in biomedical research but ended up
writing software manuals instead. I spent many years as a member of
science fiction and historical reenactment groups and I have been at
various times a Renaissance scholar, a druidess, a pirate wench, a
saloon floozy, a belly dancer and a chain-mail wearing warrior
maiden.

Still,
my first love is writing stories. It doesn’t matter whether the
story is set in the middle ages, Victorian times, the present day or
far in the future. If it has both love and magic in it, I will write
about it. I write not only romance but young adult historical fantasy
under the name of Ann Finnin.

I’m
a native of Southern California, and I live in the hills above Los
Angeles with my husband of forty years, Dave (a man who gave me an
electric typewriter as a wedding present) and a dog of Indeterminate
Breed named Rufus.

by
Laurisa White Reyes
Genre:
YA Contemporary

On
Christmas Eve, a horrific car accident leaves Carly Perez without a
mom. After a year of surgeries and counseling, Carly’s life is
nearly back to normal—except for the monsters—vague, twisted
images from the accident that plague her dreams. When her father
insists on spending their first Christmas alone in Guatemala with a
slew of relatives Carly has never met, she is far from thrilled, but
she reluctantly boards the plane anyway.

That’s
where she first spots the man with the scarred face. She could swear
she has seen him before. But when? Where?

In
Reu, the Guatemalan town where her father grew up, Carly meets
Miguel, her attractive step-cousin, and thinks maybe vacation won’t
be a total waste after all. Though she is drawn to him, Carly’s
past holds her back—memories that refuse to be forgotten, and a
secret about the accident that remains buried in her subconscious.
And everywhere she turns, the man with the scarred face is there,
driving that unwelcome secret to the surface.

Mr. Withers sat across from them, a
stack of papers spread out for easy access. He first read all the parts of the
will that pertained to Grant, and then he read the parts that pertained to
Sybil. He then took an envelope, passed it across the table to Sybil, and
advised her to visit the bank after leaving his office.
“You deducted the money spent on me
in America, I’m sure?” Sybil asked as she tucked the envelope into her
reticule.
“Actually, I’d like you to consider
your time in America as a gift from me,” Grant said. He felt terrible about
everything that had happened, and if he could ease his conscience in any way,
he would do it.
She turned to him with eyes of fire.
“I beg your pardon?”
“Please, it’s a gift. You deserve the
full sum of your inheritance.”
She sat up a little straighter. “Do
you mean to tell me that I’m to consider the clothing and the stay in the
Palace Hotel a gift? Lord Douglas, that might be one of the most offensive
things anyone has ever said to me. No respectable woman, whether high bred or
low, would accept such personal things from a man. It’s insulting and
demeaning.” She pulled the envelope back out and tossed it at him. “I
respectfully request that you remove the appropriate amount of money from that
envelope, sir.”
Grant was thoroughly taken aback.
“Honestly, Sybil, I had no idea—”
“Miss James will suit, Lord Douglas.”
Her voice was so cold and her eyes were so hard, he had no reasonable choice
but to open the envelope and withdraw some of the money. He couldn’t remember
all the sums, so he made a guess and passed the envelope back to her. “Thank
you. Now I believe I’ll be on my way.”

Bestselling Author Mary Ting/M. Clarke resides in Southern California
with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making
jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by
chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother,
and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she
started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It
was the reason she had to write one-Something Great. Why the pen
name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote
literacy and her children’s chapter book-No Bullies Allowed.

Kathryn Albright grew up in southern California where she sets many of her sweet western romances. A Golden Heart finalist and
recipient of the HOLT Medallion Award of Merit, she writes historical romance
that celebrates courage and hope against all odds with a dash of adventure.

Her enjoyment of historical romantic fiction began as a teenager when she was
given the novel Ramona ~ set in southern California after the Mexican-American War. A few thousand books later, she still enjoys reading romance set in the past. (She also loves fairy tales and all things Disney.)
Kathryn’s past includes careers as a nurse and an obstetrical sonographer where
daily she witnessed many “happy ever afters” and miracles.Kathryn’s latest western historical romances for Harlequin are
“sweet” although her earlier stories were not. Please check her

Sweet?

Gloria Palmer has
always done the proper thing expected of her as the daughter of a shipping
tycoon. The approval of her family and friends mean everything. And yet, when
the perfect suitor offers for her… she hesitates.
Colin McDougal has
little use for those living on the fancy side of the trolley tracks. He is too
busy managing the family pub and, in his spare time, writing down the lively
tunes in his head. So, when Miss Palmer asks for his help to prepare for a
music audition, he is flummoxed. What does he know of highbrow music?
But with each practice
session, their feelings for each other grow. When it comes time for Gloria to
make a choice between what is proper and what she desires, will she realize
that if music can cross class lines, it might also be able to harmonize two
hearts.

Snippet:
“Gloria!”
George’s
voice penetrated her thoughts.
His
dark eyes held a glint of amusement. “You dropped your reticule. Was it on
purpose?” he chided as though talking to a child. He picked up her property, brushed
off a trace of mud from the snow and soot tracked in on the plank flooring, and
then handed it back to her. “Are you testing me?”

She
looped the drawstrings of the bag over her wrist and refrained from answering.
He was only teasing her. It hadn’t been on purpose at all. And not a test. Of
course, George would pick it up. She had no doubt as to his attentiveness or
chivalry toward her. He never dropped things, never faltered. He made her feel
at once treasured like a princess and wanting like a child in the same moment.

Ione’s Dilemma by Linda Carroll-Bradd

Tuesday, April 4th, 2017
As a young girl, Linda was often found
lying on her bed reading about fascinating characters having exciting
adventures in places far away and in other time periods. In later years, she
read and then started writing romances and achieved her first publication–a
confession story. Married with 4 adult children and 2 granddaughters, Linda now
writes heartwarming contemporary and historical stories with a touch of humor
and a bit of sass from her home in the southern California mountains.

When Ione Forrester calls off her
wedding, she becomes the social pariah of Des Moines. Much to her society
parents’ chagrin. To escape the gossip, Ione accepts a teaching job in Dorado,
Texas, vowing to avoid scandal at all costs. Relocating from a doctor’s
household with cook and maids to a room in a boarding house is quite an
adjustment. Then she has to face her biggest challenge—a schoolhouse full of
students.

Carpenter Morgan Shipley’s business is
doing well and now he’s looking for companionship. An ad for a mail-order bride brings a deluge of letters, which prove more than he can handle. To his
surprise, an intriguing woman from a big city arrives in his small Texas town.
Correspondence is nothing like interacting with a flesh-and-blood woman every
day. But gossip-leery Ione wants nothing to do with Morgan’s attempts at
courting, which makes him try even harder.

Snippet #1

In the
next instant, Ione shot upright and clamped a hand on the wooden slat in front
of her. Blood pounded in her ears, and she thought she might faint. Last night,
Bradford told her he had to attend a lecture series and couldn’t accompany her
to the opera house performance of Das Rheingold. So why was he
canoodling with another woman on a trolley at eleven in the morning?

tour banner

The book:

REBEL HEART

cover 1 small

In 1776, the American rebels were thwarted by British magic. The leaders were executed, but the surviving soldiers went into hiding and kept the revolution alive. By 1984 they have developed better weapons and machinery to even the odds. Now all these “technomancers” need is an army for their arsenal, and their newest recruit is 15 year-old Calvin Adler of Baltimore. The problem is, he’s got a pretty strong will, and might give the technomancers at bit of trouble in training…

SUICIDE RUN

cover 2 small

Calvin learns that the technomancers aren’t all good guys like he’d thought, and soon runs afoul of the worst of them. Now, with a bomb in his chest and a lot of ground to cover, he has a little over a week to save his life, or else become another casualty in the revolution. Meanwhile, an old enemy comes back stronger than ever, with ambition to spare…

PATRIOT’S GAME

PG Cover

Calvin is on the brink of death. The army is scattered, the commodore is dead, and the British mages know about the technomancers’ secret weapon. Just as all hope seems lost, Calvin and his friends find out the mages have a weakness, one that could end the war overnight and liberate the colonials.
But it will take a miracle to reach it…

The Interview:

Graham, how long have you been writing? I started in 1993 as a third grader, but started pursuing it seriously about ten years ago and I’ve been trying to get better ever since.

Wow! Tell us where you were born and where do you live now. Southern California then, Southern Nevada now. I am very much a product of the desert.

Who has made the greatest difference for you as a writer? Oh jeez. There is no right answer to this! I have been blessed with many great influences and mentors. I guess my third grade teacher was the one who really started this whole thing though. I give her lots of credit.

What is the name of your Serie? and what genre? The series is “Engines of Liberty,” and the books are REBEL HEART, SUICIDE RUN, and PATRIOT’S  GAME. They are a bit of fantasy, alternate history, and steampunk. Aimed at YA but good for all ages.

Tell us more about it. Perhaps a back cover blurb. The Brits used magic to win the American Revolution in 1776. Two hundred years later the Americans have built a huge army with steam and gas engines, plus a ton of firepower, and they want a rematch. Romance and adventure abound!

So interesting… What kind of impact do you expect your works to have in the reader’s lives? Take an interest in history and open your imagination. I was a diligent daydreamer in my childhood and it brings me immense joy, I hope others take it up.
