OUT
OF THE STACKS

Librarian
Phoebe Addison has lived her entire life within a seventy-five mile
radius of her small Louisiana town, but when she receives a strange
medallion from her adventurous, off-world sister, reality tilts
toward the bizarre. Everything Phoe thought she knew is…well,
wrong. Dead wrong. But bone-numbing fear has no place in this brave
new world—nor by the side of the dangerous, exquisite man who saves
her life.

…AND
INTO THE FIRE

Following
the tragic slaughter of his family, operative Macijah “Cage” St.
John understands evil in a way no man ever should. He traded
happiness for a magnificent and terrible power, and fate isn’t done
with him yet. He wasn’t looking for comfort. He didn’t need
tenderness. But today he’ll play hero to a damsel in distress, and
his quest will deliver him to the uncanny Martian colony of New
London—and his heart to the demure Phoebe Addison. The bookish
beauty’s hidden talents and deep abiding love just might save Cage
from himself.

BACK…

Macijah
“Cage” St. John’ didn’t want the spy life anymore. He would
have been thrilled to spend every morning lying in the field behind
Phoe’s home in smalltown Louisiana watching the clouds roll by. But
his Miss Addison wanted to spread her wings, literally. So Cage
accepted a mission that teamed him up with his lady love. If only he
had trusted her.

TO
THE FUTURE

Everything
about being a spy was a million times more exciting, and scarier,
than the books she’d read in her former life as a librarian. When her
first mission with Cage turned into a colossal clusterf*ck because he
withheld information and kept secrets, Phoebe’s world narrowed into a
long tunnel of betrayal. Captured by space pirates and delivered to a
horrible fate, she wished the last words between them had been of
love, because she was certain she would never see Cage St. John
again.

In
NeoGeisha, Alexandra Christian returns to the intriguing,
post-apocalyptic world she created in Naked. Cage and Phoe continue
to build their relationship, but not without complications. Romantic
conflict and fast-paced action keep the pages turning, right down to
the satisfying ending. ~ Nancy Northcott, Author of the Light Mage
Wars series

NeoGeisha
hit all my personal high points: wild adventure, sheet-scorching sex,
killer machines, thousands-to-two odds and a vampire shape-shitfting
James Bond in space. ~Vivien Jackson, Author of Wanted and Wired
series

master spies, Macijah “Cage” St. John and Phoebe Addison
are forced to take vacation time, and she wants to go to Absinthia,
an off-world all inclusive interactive vacay planet set up as
Victorian London, but with all the future comforts. Cage doesn’t do
down time, but their boss has other ideas, so begrudgingly, Cage
agrees to go to Absinthia. Within a day of their arrival, they get
embroiled in a Ripper copy cat series of murders complete with
séances, “altered” humans, kidnapping, and affairs of the
heart – their hearts, which will always belong to each other.

THE
LOVE YOU TAKE IS EQUAL TO THE LOVE YOU MAKE

Phoebe
Addison and Macijah “Cage” St. John have so much going on
they can barely take a breath. Interplanetary master spies who
generally drive their boss crazy, they are now trying to track down
the person – is a skin walker a person? – who tried to kill him at
their engagement party. Yeah, they were talked into returning to
Louisiana so the whole town could show up and gawk at Cage. But they
have bigger problems than usual when tracking an assassin. Secrets
that have been buried for too many years are about to be uncovered if
Cage and Phoe can survive the people, vampires and “things”
that are trying to kill them. And to top if off, Phoe has a secret
she’s sure will send Cage into a tailspin. But, as with everything
they have lived through to be together, their love is the constant
that is its own reward.

The battle between good and evil just got wicked fun

Wednesday, January 16th, 2019
The
Corpse Whisperer
An
Allie Nighthawk Mystery Book 1
by
H.R. Boldwood
Genre:
Urban Fantasy, Mystery

Welcome
to the world of Allie Nighthawk, corpse whisperer and badass zombie
hunter.

“If
you raise deadheads, you’d better be able to put ‘em down. Nobody
said it was pretty. But in this day, when vampires aren’t just for
breakfast anymore, and the dead are disposable pawns for
necromancers, someone has to ante up. Looks like I won the lotto.
Imagine my delight. You should thank me, really, because the world is
batshit crazy.”

When
the zombie population spikes and no one knows why, it’s up to Allie
to solve the mystery. But there’s a hitch. She’s stuck
babysitting Leo Abruzzi, a zombie-bitten gangster who’s turning
state’s evidence. But the mob and a powerful necromancer will stop
at nothing to take Leo and Allie down.

Allie
Nighthawk is Anita Blake on steroids, with a fondness for leather and
Jack on the rocks. She has a healthy dose of Stephanie Plum and
Rachel Morgan in her, too, though she’d never admit it.

The
battle between good and evil just got wicked fun.

Brooke
Moss

writes complex, character-driven stories about kismet, reunited
lovers, first love, and the kind of romance that we should all have
the chance at finding. She prefers her stories laced with some humor
just for fun, and enough drama to keep her readers flipping the
pages, and begging for more!

When
Brooke isn’t spinning tales, she spends her time drawing/cartooning,
reading, watching movies then comparing them to books, and, of
course, wrangling five kids, mugging on her hubby she lovingly refers
to as her “nerd”, and attempting to conquer the Mount
Everest of laundry that is the bane of her existence.

Love
I
am a Michigan native, who up until recently lived in the Metro
Detroit area, where crime and corruption always seem to be at the top
of everyone’s news. So there’s always the chance to find something
that can trigger a story idea and enough interesting characters to
jump start your imagination.

While
I have worked in many industries and career paths over the years, one
of my passions has always been writing. I was even able to parlay
that passion for a while, working as a freelance reporter for a
couple of newspapers in the Detroit area. Writing features and hard
news helped me hone my talents. But while newspaper work was
interesting and paid a few bills, it was a far cry from the fiction
writing that I enjoy the most.

I’ve
always been drawn to mysteries and thrillers, the kind of stories
that have a fast pace, that keep you moving and keep you guessing as
to what’s going to take place next. Mix those in with some elements
of crime, perhaps a glimpse of the seedier side and you’ve got me. So
it’s always been one of my goals to write stories like
that.

before.
Tres is about to be born… with the

unseen threat stalking him since his birth.

Justine Avery is
an award-winning author of stories large and small for all.
Born in the American Midwest and raised all over the world, she is
inherently an explorer, duly fascinated by everything around her and
excitedly noting the stories that abound all around. As an avid
reader of all genres, she weaves her own stories among them all. She
has a predilection for writing speculative fiction and story twists
and surprises she can’t even predict herself.
Avery has either
lived in or explored all 50 states of the union, over 36 countries,
and all but one continent; she lost count after moving 30-some times
before the age of 20. She’s intentionally jumped out of
airplanes and off the highest bungee jump in New Zealand, scuba dived
unintentionally with sharks, designed websites, intranets, and
technical manuals, bartered with indigenous Panamanians, welded
automobile frames, observed at the Bujinkan Hombu Dojo in Noba,
Japan, and masterminded prosperous internet businesses—to name a
few adventures. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree that life has
never required, and at age 28, she sold everything she owned and quit
corporate life—and her final “job”—to freelance and travel
the world as she always dreamed of. And she’s never looked back.
 Aside from
her native English, Avery speaks a bit of Japanese and a bit more
Spanish, her accent is an ever-evolving mixture of Midwestern
American with notes of the Deep South and indiscriminate British
vocabulary and rhythm, and she says “eh”—like the Kiwis, not
the Canadians. She currently lives near Los Angeles with her husband,
British film director Devon Avery, and their three adopted children:
Becks, Sam, and Lia. She writes from wherever her curiosity takes
her.
Avery loves to
connect with fellow readers and creatives, explorers and imaginers,
and cordially invites you to say “hello”—or konnichiwa.

Snippet:
The West Texas night wind whispered and whistled around the window
frames. I was in my mom’s favorite chair reading The Tell-Tale Heart when I heard the stuttering drone of a small
plane. In our rural setting, it sounded very low and very loud.
Then the noise stopped.

Lady, the German shepherd I’d found lying mangled and near death
beside the road, was standing in front of the picture-window, head cocked to
one side.
The silence was thick and cold.

As we watched, the tail of a small plane disappeared behind the
line of firs west of the house. There was still no sound but the wind.

I dialed the operator and told her what I’d seen. She immediately
patched me through to the Sheriff’s office so I could tell the dispatcher what
had happened. Then I ran outside to see what I could see. Lady was right behind
me.

Cyber muse, futuristic essays, high technology and more

Sunday, December 13th, 2015

Roger White when did you first know you wanted to be an author?

What originally got me into writing was word processors on personal computers, way back in 1977. Writing by hand or typewriter was boring because it was so hard to fix mistakes. But with cut-and-paste and spellcheckers… wow! What I started
writing were articles that explained high technology… such as how to use
personal computers and local area computer networks. Gradually I started adding some fun science fiction writing to that, and then I got into many other topics.

My first, and still my most popular book, was a how-to: Wordstar with Style. It
explained how to use the Wordstar word processor on CP/M machines, and later MSDOS machines.

The next big breakthrough was starting a web site: White World. I started that in 1996, and now I had a home for whatever I wrote that I thought was interesting to other people. I still personally maintain White World.

==What makes you passionate about writing?
promo-vid-01-400

I like explaining new concepts to interested people. The concepts can be in
science, technology, history or current events. Making my new concepts
understandable to other people became an interesting, life-long challenge. My
style of science fiction — Technofiction — is an extension of that into the
realms of speculative fiction. (more…)

Nexis (Tricksters, #1) by A.L. Devroe

In the domed city of Evanescence, appearance is everything. A Natural Born among genetically altered Aristocrats, all Ella ever wanted was to be like everyone else. Augmented, sparkling, and perfect. Then…the crash. Devastated by her father’s death and struggling with her new physical limitations, Ella is terrified to learn she is not just alone, but little more than a prisoner.

Her only escape is to lose herself in Nexis, the hugely popular virtual reality game her father created. In Nexis she meets Guster, a senior player who guides Ella through the strange and compelling new world she now inhabits. He offers Ella guidance, friendship…and something more. Something that allows her to forget about the “real” world and makes her feel whole again. But when their separate worlds collide, Ella will have to choose between love and survival. Because Nexis isn’t quite the game everyone thinks it is. And it’s been waiting for Ella. (more…)

Kai, tell us where you were born.
I was born and raised in small town Wisconsin. The village of Brown Deer to be exact. I’m very proud of my midwest roots. I think the crazy winters helped me gain character and the wholesome people helped keep me grounded.

What is the most difficult thing about being an author?
Oh, that shifts daily. Heck, maybe hourly. The waiting. Marketing. Unfavorable reviews. Avoiding social media snark. Editing. Big huge ugh to edtiting! There is a lot of difficult. Luckily there is lots of good fun, too. Favorable reviews. Reader communication. Classroom visits. Monthly lunches with fellow writers.

Who has made the greatest difference for you as a writer?
My husband. He has supported me 100% of the way. Encouraging me during my many insecure moments. Cheering my successes and commiserating my failures. I don’t believe I’d have made it to my first publication if he hadn’t been in my corner.

Daron D. Fraley Speculative Fiction Author’s Interview

Saturday, August 4th, 2012

Hi Daron! Thanks for being on my blog this week.

So, you write clean adult books…Tell us what’s happening in your life?

I’m just living the dream. How many people get to go to work during the day, then come home at night, take care of a honey-do list, spend time with family, and then lose themselves in front of a computer for hours while they imagine themselves in a different world, battling against evil and ultimately vanquishing all foes? It’s rare, I tell you. Actually, I shouldn’t tell you . . . those other worlds are top secret. (more…)

Friday’s Highlight: “Life, the Universe, & Everything” Symposium by Diana Ault

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Today we have Diana Ault for a visit on my blog. She will tell us all about LTUE http://ning.it/xoTnKL

Named after the clever sci-fi book by Douglas Adams, the Marion K. “Doc” Smith,  “Life, the Universe, & Everything” Science Fiction and Fantasy Symposium is in its 30th year, making it one of the largest and longest-running symposiums of its kind. (The whole title is probably the biggest mouthful too so let’s just call it LTUE.)

What began as a small meeting of Brigham Young University speculative fiction enthusiasts in 1982, is now a full-on, three day, academic symposium for amateur and professional writers and artists.
Traditionally held on BYU campus, this year the symposium will be held at the Utah Valley UniversitySorensen Student Center Feb. 9 – 11, 2012.

For more information on the history of LTUE, please clickhere and here. (more…)
