Lu Ann it so good to hear from you again, welcome to my blog. Tell us how long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, but I didn’t complete the manuscript for my first novel, Leona & Me, Helen Marie, until 1995. This book is based on the childhood of my mother, Helen Marie, and her older sister, Leona. I used my mother’s journals and the stories she used to tell me to craft this story, and despite the fact I wrote it several months after she died, I feel like my mom and I collaborated on the finish product.

That is a great way to remember her. Tell us where you were born and where  you live now.

I was born and raised in Indiana. I literally came from Small Town U.S.A. because my hometown, Alexandria, was used as America’s model town in a promotional booklet put out during World War II to show the rest of the world how Americans live.
