Jason King is visiting today. Welcome.
Jason when did you first know you wanted to be an author?
When I was 8. For some 3rd grade “what do you want to be when you grow up†assignment we were to draw what we wanted to be. So I drew myself sitting at a desk in a locked room with kids banging on the door. Ha ha. It may have been more prophecy than daydreaming.
LOL. What makes you passionate about writing?Â
It’s in my blood. I just have to do it. I can’t not do it. It’s weird.
I know what you mean. What was the pathway like for you to get your first book published?
A lot like dating. Rejection after rejection, until I got someone to say “yes.†Ha ha.
Were you ever discouraged along the way? If so, how did you deal with it?
Definitely had those times where I’d ask myself “what am I doing?†or “am I just wasting my time?†Especially after receiving rejection letters. But I just tried to improve my writing and kept after it.
What books have most influenced your life?
The Book of Mormon for nonfiction, and as for novels; Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn, Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, and Terry Goodkind’s Wizards First Rule.
