My Review

I read “The double life of the Railroad Tycoon; Leland Stanford”

Leland Stanford has a double legacy as both a “robber baron” and a great philanthropist. He got his start in business as a merchant during the California Gold Rush. He also made his way up to president of both the Central and Southern Pacific Railroad companies. He became a railroad mogul, a leading force in an under regulated industry wherein he gained a reputation for corrupt and greedy practices. Still he and his wife, are the benevolent founder of Stanford University. This biography untangles the complex threads of Stanford’s life in a simple yet complete way.

In my opinion this biography is quite interesting and has all the tid bit of his life with dates and events. I was glad to read Stanford’s life history and learned more about his interesting an sad life. Great job on the writing and delivering of the biography.
