MY REVIEW

365 Days of Writing Prompts for Romance Writers by Kim Knight is a great source of inspiration. I was able to copy selected tips from her to write great romances in any genre into my own document for fast referral. It strikes me as good advice as I have written my own romance series the same way she recommends.

The other thing I like about Kim Knight’s book is that after each day’s prompt, she left space for the readers to outline the prompt for a new story of your own making. At the end of the year you will have 365 stories to develop and publish later.

In my case, since I publish about two romances a year that would mean I have enough material for 183 years. In another case I suppose I could use some of the prompts as subplots in the same story. Either way, it’s a lot of inspiration for a writer. You may be able to forget writers’ block thanks to this book’s content.

I will say that this book is a must for romance writers everywhere. You’ll be glad you have it in your personal library.

Kim is born in 1983 and from London in the UK. She’s a mother to a beautiful little boy, and a proud award winning author (awarded Best Romance 2017 title for A Stranger In France). Kim started her journey as a traditionally published author and later dived into self-publishing also.
As a reader she’s head over heels in love with romance, historical fiction, crime fiction, African- American, suspense and thriller genre books. As a writer, Kim enjoys creating stories with a diverse and multi-cultural line up, within the romance, romantic suspense and general thriller and crime genres. When she’s not reading, or writing stories of her own her other passions include practising her French, astrology, fashion, make-up artistry, drawing, spending time at her sewing machine dressmaking, watching make -up and beauty tutorials on YouTube, letter writing and being a mum.

   Excerpt:

Ana enjoyed the calmness of the afternoon, and listened to his soothing, hypnotic voice for a while. Thoughts of a prior discussion on the vampire ceremony entered her mind, and she felt a need to understand the process better.

“What exactly do you mean bytasteyour blood?” She suddenly straightened and turned her head to stare at him.

For almost an hour Andree explained the details of the traditional vampire wedding ceremony.

“There will be two ceremonial daggers, sharp, with our names engraved on them. You will use the one—”

“Use? Are you telling me that I have to cut you in a room—an underground room—in the presence of hundreds of vampires? Are you for real? Are you—?”

Andree laughed and held her closer to him.

She could appreciate his gesture, but it didn’t help her feel better. It was bad enough she stood in that room the other night, under the scrutinizing glares. Adding blood to the equation wasn’t something to look forward to.

“You will cut your initial in the palm of my hand, here,” he explained, indicating a spot on his palm, right under his thumb. “I will do the same, and you will not feel a thing. Daniel will be right there with his spray. It will be quick and painless.”

“But what about the blood? I mean—”

“Nobody will attack you or me, guaranteed. It is part of the ceremony.”

“I’m not sure about it. You guys in general go crazy when you see or smell blood.”

“Ana, tasting my blood is a symbol. I am giving you my life, just as you will give me yours. It is what will bind us for eternity.” He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed her palm, sending tingles, as if a million tiny ants marched through her veins. “As I already told you, the ceremony is short, but every word we say, every gesture, symbolizes something.”

“Can’t we do all that without the blood part?” With the tingles melted away, and a nervous energy replacing them, she dared to gaze at him.

“We are vampires, Ana. Blood is life.”
