A charming rogue-turned-vicar, Will wants to prove that he left his rakish days behind him, but an accidental kiss changes all his plans. His secret could bring them together…or divide them forever.

Holly has two Christmas wishes this year; finally earn her mother’s approval by gaining the notice of a handsome earl, and learn the identity of the stranger who gave her a heart-shattering kiss…even if that stranger is the resident Christmas ghost.

Snippet:
“There you are,” a low male voice murmured barely above a whisper.
With a squeak, she jumped.
A soft laugh came in reply and that same low voice said, “Forgive me for startling you.”
She tried to peer into the face of the dark figure nearby but looking at the brightness of the moonlight on the snow outside had all but blinded her. Which guest had come to the conservatory? She was supposed to remain here alone.
A silhouetted male form neared. “You are so lovely.”
Was that Lord Bradbury? Did he truly think her lovely? He’d hardly exchanged two words with her since she and her parents arrived this morning. Who else might have come?
The figure sank into the next seat to her. Before Holly said a word, a warm, gentle, ungloved hand touched her cheek. She froze. A pair of lips pressed against hers. Soft, tender, invigorating, his kiss immobilized her. His lips moved across hers, testing, offering. He tasted faintly of citrus and cinnamon, exotic, and delicious. The heat of his lips lit an answering warmth inside. Oh heavens, she’d never imagined such a sensation! His lips continued to play with hers while a sweet ache formed. With both hands, he cradled her face, and deepened the kiss. An exquisitely delicious sensation carried her closer to an edge she never knew existed. An untouched place in her heart awoke and sang while the hot and cold tingles turned into a foreign longing. Every bone, muscle, and sinew in her body turned to liquid more decadent than the chocolate she liked to drink every morning.
She sighed. A soft male moan came in reply. The kiss ended but his soft lips planted tiny kisses along her cheek, her eyelids, her brow. Holly remained motionless, spellbound by the beauty and power of the kiss. His hands withdrew. She kept her eyes closed another heartbeat, unwilling to release the sensations shooting through her. Who had kissed her? And why?
Surely it was Lord Bradbury. Why else would he have encouraged her to come seeking a ghost? She opened her eyes.
She sat alone.

She’d never felt so terrified. Or so alive

Fleeing an unwanted engagement, a young harpist follows her music passion to London. Becoming entangled with a handsome violinist who seems too aristocratic for a working-class musician may be more problematic than dodging her erstwhile fiancé, sleeping in the streets, or staying alive when a madman targets her for murder.

Snippet:
Excitement
bubbled up inside Susanna at the possibilities that lay before her. “Oh,
Martha, I do want to go to London to find work as a harpist. How would I get there?”
How would she get there? Susanna froze. She
must travel alone, unprotected, and in the company of strangers. Still,
remaining here seemed infinitely worse.
Martha frowned.
“It doesn’t seem right, a gently bred lady like yourself traveling all alone.”
“Other people
manage somehow,” Susanna said, trying to be brave.
The
maid-turned-confident paused. “That’s true. I came here from London on the mail
coach. It took three days. It is an uncomfortable way to travel because it only
stops to change horses and drivers. That’s when we stretched our legs and
bought food at the posting inns. I didn’t have to worry about paying for a
bedchamber. But I’m used to being on my own.”
Susanna
considered. “I know where the nearest posting inn is. But once I reach London,
I wouldn’t know where to begin. I don’t know all the theatres, nor how to go
about getting a position, nor even where I’d stay.” The unknowns all loomed
before her like an endlessly high wall.
“I can’t help you
with getting a position, but I know the theatres.” Martha started counting off
on her fingers. “There’s the King’s Theatre, Covent Garden, Drury Lane,
Lyceum….”
Susanna smiled at
the sweet maid. What a dear she was for trying to help her! “I can see I should
have spoken to you sooner.”
Martha added, “I
still can’t like the idea of you traveling all the way to London alone, miss,
but I admire your courage.”
Courage or desperation? Either way, the more Susanna thought of it, the more determined she was to flee. Fear and excitement and anticipation tugged at her from every side, creating nervous anticipation. She’d never felt so terrified. Or so
alive.

She wishes to learn the identity of the stranger who gave her a heart-shattering kiss…even if that stranger is the resident Christmas ghost

Snippet:
Will set the ladder near one of the columns and eyed the metal supports
bolted to the pillars on either side of the altar. Good. All was ready for the
candles to be placed for the Christmas service. Miss Gray moved like a dancer
amidst the pews, her slender, yet curvy form softly contrasting with the stone
walls. She was such a spot of cheer.
Raised to marry a lord. Not a vicar.
That same kicked-in-the-gut sensation returned. Muttering under his
breath, Will followed the rector into the vestry to collect the candles. He
hurried back, almost starving for Miss Gray’s presence. As they worked, Miss
Gray hummed The Holly and the Ivy.
Will listened to her sweet voice for a moment and couldn’t resist joining
in. Bradbury also sang with a strong bass that harmonized with the melody. Was
there anything that wretched lord didn’t do well? Will indulged in some very
un-Christian thoughts about the oh-so-perfect lord.
Mrs. Gray also sang, with a voice as lovely as her daughter’s. After a
moment, the cheery tunes lifted Will’s mood. Standing on the ladder, Will added
the extra candles needed for the Christmas service, then assisted in wrapping
the columns as Miss Gray had suggested.
In less than an hour, they transformed the humble parish church into a
celebratory Christmas haven, almost fit for a drawing room.
“It’s perfect,” Miss Gray exclaimed. “A pity we cannot hang a kissing
ball.”
Will choked and laughed at the outrageous statement. Honestly, he agreed.
Lord Bradbury’s eyes widened. Mrs. Gray shot her daughter a withering look.
The poor girl flushed and bit her lip, looking down. “Erm, I mean…”
Mr. Appleby didn’t see the humor, either. “Adding such a pagan symbol as
mistletoe would no doubt create a public outcry and possibly have me removed
from my position as vicar.”
Of course, if Will could get Miss Holly Gray beneath a kissing ball….
Ahem.
For all intents and purposes, Will had given his word not to pursue her.
He reviewed his newfound resolve to cling to duty, to turn over a new leaf in
life, and to please his family by bringing honor rather than dishonor to the
Berry name. Keeping his word, duly given to a lady, fell squarely into that
resolve. No more romantic fantasies about Miss Gray.
Very well, he’d
avoid Holly Gray as much as possible without appearing to give her the cut. He
must resist talking to her or even looking at her. He must.

Of course, that
included ensuring that she never discover who had kissed her, which meant he
must continue an ungentlemanly deception.

Horrors! Emma’s favorite Gothic novel seems to have come true…but reality is not as fun as fiction. The only man she’s ever loved is home from war, but he has changed in a terrifying way. Unless Emma’s wild imagination is wrong, the love of her life is a vampire! Now she must decide if she can love a creature of darkness, or reveal his secret and lose him forever.
This tongue-in-check novella plays with themes of paranormal fiction, but stays in the realm of clean and wholesome historical romance while exploring the power of trust and love.
Dance with a duke, outwit pirates, save a kingdom, and fall in love. Believe in happily ever after.

Snippet:
Emma looked up at the sound of flapping wings. A patch of darkness blotted out the stars, and she ducked slightly as a bat sailed toward her from deeper in the garden, swooped overhead, and flitted off to the right. There were times when she wished she could soar out into the night like that winged creature, unfettered by so many social rules. After casting a guilty glace over her shoulder at the ballroom, she stepped out of the light and into the night. A fountain murmured nearby. She sauntered to it, inhaling the scent of jasmine. Moonlight glimmered in the surface of the pool below the water sculpture.
A breeze whispered, stirring the trees. She should have thought to bring a shawl. As lovely as it was out in the garden, she’d better return to the ballroom or she might catch a chill. Besides, it wouldn’t do to disappear and set tongues wagging; people might think she was on some sort of illicit rendezvous, and she daren’t risk ruin. Of course, if she died a spinster, that wouldn’t really matter, but she couldn’t dishonor her family name.
The bat flapped overhead again and wheeled away, disappearing behind a large shrub. A dark form stepped out of the same shrub. Her breath caught and she jumped as a tall man approached.
Bennett Ashton.

Coming out from behind the very bush where the bat had disappeared.
