Thugs chase him, the scientists in Hell want to prod and examine the first possessed demon in history, and he can’t find the darn grimoire

Monday, May 13th, 2019
The
Good Inside Me
by
Barbara Russell
Genre:
YA Paranormal Romance

Dragons,
short-tempered archdemons, and hysterical damned souls—Shax is used
to dealing with all that. He’s a young fire demon and lives in
Hell, after all. What he’s not used to is being possessed by a
human. A very good human and a pretty girl at that: sixteen-year-old
Tolis. Despite still having control of his body most of the time,
Shax can hear Tolis’s voice inside his head and feels what she
feels constantly.
Shax’s
mentor claims that Tolis hides an ancient, powerful grimoire, a book
of spells, and proposes a deal: if Shax finds it, he’ll help Shax
get work as a dragon keeper—Shax’s dream job. Tolis swears she
doesn’t have the grimoire and asks Shax to help her father, whose
soul is turning evil by the minute. Unless Tolis does something, her
dad’s soul will end in Hell. Hoping to convince her to give him the
grimoire, and not because Shax cares about the man’s soul, he
agrees to help.
Goodness
is overrated. Since Shax decided to help Tolis, his life has turned
into a hurdle race. Thugs chase him, the scientists in Hell want to
prod and examine the first possessed demon in history, and he can’t
find the darn grimoire.
And
the worst part? Due to the unavoidable presence of Tolis, who keeps
intruding into his evil thoughts, Shax discovers an almost decent
side of himself. In no time at all, he catches himself doing actual
good deeds. Is he becoming—yuck—good?

The best and worst parts of Jude Gallagher’s life collide as myth meets reality

Thursday, February 22nd, 2018
Firebloods
by
Casey Hays
Genre:
YA Paranormal Romance
326
pages

Jude
Gallagher thought she was crazy.

It
all started when the boy next door made her hear music—inside her
head. All the time.

It
was torture.

She
didn’t think things could get worse. But then one hot summer, her
best friend Kane O’Reilly decides to tell her how he really feels
about her. Music inside her head? That’s nothing compared what
happens next.

Things
only turn stranger when she and her lab partner Frankie Melmack begin
a project to prove the existence of the Vatra u Krvi—a race of
people tied to the mythical Phoenix. Add in a neglectful mother and a
magic ring, and the insanity that defines Jude’s life is pretty
well complete.

Heat
surges across the Nevada desert, and the best and worst parts of Jude
Gallagher’s life collide as myth meets reality. In the middle of
the chaos, she begins to hear more than just music. And she has to
wonder…

Maybe…
just maybe… she really is crazy after all.

Firebloods is the first book I’ve ever taken out on tour. Based on the legend of the Phoenix, this book is probably one of my favorites. All of my books are very character-driven rather than plot-driven, and this book is sort of an interactive read, where my main character, Jude Gallagher, draws readers right into the story, up close and personal. She’s a seventeen year old girl whose father was brutally killed in a wildlife attack five years ago. Her mother has never recovered from his death, sinking into a clinical depression and staying there to this day. So Jude has fended for herself since she was 12. She’s a gifted pianist, but she hasn’t played a note since her father’s death. But she’s full of an inner-strength she doesn’t recognize, and this has allowed her to overcome her obstacles.

Enter her gang of friends: These four people are Jude’s rock. They’ve been there for her when her mother hasn’t, and she wouldn’t have survived without them. Let’s break them down:

Kane O’Reilly is very confident, but not cocky. He’s gorgeous with distinctive dimples, jet black hair and emerald green eyes, all of which attract a lot of female attention, but Jude stole his heart ages ago over an alphabet assignment in kindergarten. He’s waiting for her to realize that she loves him. He’s into motorcycles and cooking, and he has a huge secret he’s never shared with these four friends.

Jonas Cameron has known Jude since toddlerhood when their mothers commuted together during nursing school. Strong and trustworthy, athletic and kind of a little teddy bear with a wild heart, this blond-haired, blue-eyed boy is always there when Jude needs a friend. He’s really like a brother to her.

Devan Parker is Jonas’s girlfriend. She’s a cheerleader with a thing for fashion. Spontaneous, fun-loving and always ready for some excitement, she’s never afraid to speak her mind, which sometimes gets the rest of them into a bind. Her carefree attitude balances Jude’s much more conservative personality.

Frankie Melmack is the genius in the bunch. Frizzy, flyaway hair and glasses, she’ll likely graduate from college within six months of graduating from high school. For all her education, she’s a firm believer in the supernatural, which is a paradox. She and Jude have been friends since 7th grade when they were thrown together as lab partners. Currently, they are working on a summer project to prove the existence of the Vatra u Krvi, aka Firebloods- a race of people purportedly created with Phoenix blood. This project opens the door to a mythical world neither girl ever imagined.

We can’t forget about Rylin McDowell- a red-headed, hazel-eyed Irish boy who somehow makes Jude hear music inside her head. He’s a mystery she can’t quite figure out. But she will.

Letting go of the past, facing the present and future, is harder said than done

Friday, June 23rd, 2017
I live in Rocky Mountains with my husband and children and love my home when it’s not snowing. I’m the author of 36 books so far. I also write YA Paranormal Romance under my pen name, Katie Lee O’Guinn.  I enjoy the outdoors, reading and being with my family. I’m a huge believer in happy endings. Scarlett really should have been happy with Rhett and it’s a darn shame Leo and Kate didn’t float safely into New York on the Titanic. Don’t even get me started on Romeo and Juliet. To
find out the latest on my books, check out my blog at
www.shannonguymon.blogspot.com or www.katieleeoguinn.blogspot.com.

You can purchase all of my books at Amazon.com.

I’m also a supporter of Operation

“A funny and bittersweet look at grief, love and families who
maybe love each other too much.

Letting go of the past and facing the present and future is harder said
than done for Kam Matafeo. Getting over his wife’s death isn’t something on
Kam’s list of things to do.  But when
Grace Jackson, his new Sous Chef walks in, life is turned upside down. And not
just for him either.  Anne, his
mother-in-law, is not open to the idea of anyone new in Kam’s life and will do
anything to stop his romance from blooming. But when the ‘Love Witches’ step in to protect him, the battle lines are drawn. Fircrest is in for some fireworks
when the fight for Kam’s heart not only affects his family, but his friends’
lives too.

Things get so crazy that Grace has to make the decision to stay and
fight for herself and Kam or to give up and let Kam slip back into the
darkness.”

Excerpt 1:
Barry gestured to the
guests.  “This is Pule Matafeo and his
wife, Posey. And this couple is Asher and Meredith Murphy.”
Grace frowned and stared
at Pule Matafeo.  Was the whole town nothing but Matafeos?
“Uh, any relation to those
guys?” she said gesturing over her shoulder to Tate and Tai. She looked back at
the table and all four heads looked down as if they had been staring in her
direction.
Pule smiled serenely and
nodded. “Those two men are my cousins and Kam is my big brother.”
Grace smiled and reached
out her hand to shake.  “It’s a privilege
to meet you.  I have to say, I love
working for your brother.  He is so kind
and thoughtful.  I can’t even imagine
what it would be like to grow up with Kam as an older brother,” she said.
Pule snorted and was about
to say something when the woman sitting next to him elbowed him in the
side.  Pule smiled and nodded.  “Kam was wonderful.”
“He is wonderful,” his wife said.
“Hi, I’m Posey, Wren Downing’s younger sister.  She’s told me about your gnocchi.”
Grace grinned. “I love
Wren! She’s my favorite.  Are you a chef
too?”
Posey shook her head.  “Oh, no. I can barely microwave food.  I write children’s books.”
Grace shook her head.
“That is so cool.  Good for you.”
“And I’m Kam’s ex-girlfriend.”
Grace swiveled her head to
see an attractive blond with a razor sharp angled bob looking her up and down.
“Um, okaay. That’s nice for you.”
The man sitting next to
her rolled his eyes and sighed loudly. “I’m Asher Murphy.  And since you’re new in town, we run the Match and Mingle web site for singles in
the Fircrest and Tacoma area.  The first
month is free.”
Grace frowned and looked
down at her hands.  “I probably should
look into something like that but I have the worst luck with men.  The last guy I dated, emptied out my savings
account. I think I’ll stick to what I’m good at. Cooking.”
“Gotcha. You’re a cat
lady,” Meredith said with a small, self-satisfied smile.
Grace turned and smiled
directly at the woman, not breaking eye contact. She made it a rule to never
back down from a bully and she wasn’t going to start now, even if it was an ex
of Kam’s.
Meredith looked away first
and blushed.  “Sorry, that was rude,” she
finally said.
Grace didn’t bother
acknowledging the obvious and looked back to Pule and Posey.  “So how was dinner tonight?” she asked,
changing the subject.
Posey pointed to her
almost empty plate.  “I’m about to order
another meal just so I can take home some leftovers.  It was amazing, Grace.  Truly, delicious.”
Pule stopped glaring at
Meredith to smile at her.  “Let’s just
say we’ll be coming back every week for dinner and twice for lunch if I have
anything to say about it.”
Asher put his fingers to
his lips and make a kissing motion.
“Perfection.  Thank you for moving
to Fircrest, Grace.  We’re all very happy
you’re here. Right, Meredith?”
Grace watched curiously as
Meredith winced.  If she wasn’t mistaken,
someone was getting kicked under the table.
“She might be a halfway
decent cook but that doesn’t mean that she’s good enough for K…” she gasped suddenly and didn’t
finish her sentence. She glared across the table at Pule. “That hurt!”
Pule ignored Meredith and
smiled up at her.  “I think you are good enough for Calzones.  I’ve been after Rob forever to add them to
the lunch menu.”
Grace smiled in
confusion.  “Good enough for calzones?
Uh, sure.  I’ll see what I can do.  You all have a wonderful evening.  I have one more table to say hi to.”
She walked away, motioning
to Barry to show her the last table.
That was the weirdest encounter she’d had since moving to Fircrest.  She was going to stay clear of Meredith. That
woman was psycho.

Soulless Series… really?

Ashley, tell us where you were born

Provo, Utah but I moved to Anaheim, California when I was only 3. I joined the military when I was 18 and have lived all around the US and even in England. I’ve moved 10 times. So, home is wherever I’m living at the moment.

What is the most difficult thing about being an author?
20151111_162145
Sitting down at my computer. I recently discovered dictation software and have been trying to dictate my books while walking or at the gym. One time, a guy got on the elliptical machine next to me, heard me talking to myself, and then got off. I laughed. I thought it might bother me that people think I’m crazy, but I actually get a good laugh from it now.

Becky’s Kiss by Nicholas Fisher

banner-4

Interview:

What inspired your book?

I love baseball and I am a sucker for a good love story. I thought I would mix the two and add some mystery as well.

How do you spend your free time?

I write in most of my free time, but I am an avid sports fan. I also like reading.

What is the thing you struggle with the most while writing? And how do you defeat it?

I like to tell too much, and many readers think my descriptions are over the top. I work in drafts to combat this, and the last draft is the one where I cut out all the stuff I don’t absolutely need.

When did you first realize you were an author?

Am I? I always thought of myself as more of a dreamer!

The Trailer:

Synopsis:

“It could not be worse for ninth grader Becky Michigan on her first day at a new school, sitting in beet juice and staining her white jeans in a classroom about to fill up with students. In the nick of time, a gorgeous blonde boy named Danny comes in and offers his over-sized baseball jersey so she can cover up, get to the office, and change. By the time she pulls the shirt over her head, however, he has mysteriously disappeared.

Becky scours the school in search of her dream-athlete and wonders why after contact with him she has magically gained the ability to throw a fastball ninety miles per hour! Instead of finding the answer, however, Becky’s new skill pits her against the school bully and the entire varsity baseball team.

That night, after her exciting showdown in front of the entire school, Danny shows up at her bedroom window. If she will agree to meet him behind Rutledge High at midnight on the ball field at the edge of the woods, he promises to reveal a secret meant to alter the past and change her life forever.”

Strange and Lovely: Ten Paranormal Tales of Thrills and Romance

Saturday, October 4th, 2014

Cynthia Jane Savage Anaya talks about the Anthology  “Strange and Lovely: Ten Paranormal Tales of Thrills and Romance.”

Cynthia how did you came up with the idea for an anthology?

Rebecca Gage was the author involved in planning this anthology and specifically seeking out the other nine authors involved. She wanted to create a fun, clean, paranormal book filled with short stories for teens and up to read and enjoy.

Great idea. How did you find all the authors for it?

Rebecca and I met at an ANWA conference last February and hit it off immediately. When she contacted me a few months ago about her project idea she asked for author suggestions. I thought (more…)

Author Interview for Kim Williams-Justesen

Wednesday, October 1st, 2014

Kim, welcome to my YA Dark blog. What makes you passionate about writing?

I like that I’m the one in control of things, and that it isn’t done until I say it’s done (or until my editor says it’s done!).

Very nice…Do you have a writing routine?

I work full-time, so I write in the evenings and on weekends. I usually grab a handful of Chips-Ahoy cookies, a big glass of water, and head to my office. I reread the last few pages of where I left off, then I take a deep breath and dive in.

What a great scape. What is the title of your book?

My upcoming YA is called DEATH’S KISS. (more…)
